Great relaxing atmosphere with delicious food at a very reasonable price. Service was excellent and the ocean side dining spectacular at Sunset
This is by far the worst Maui dining experience we have ever had. The service was extremely poor and the food was not much better. I will be shocked if this restaurant stays open much longer.
Went there with my wife in a special occasion at 8pm. We ordered entrees, the lobster and steak. The complementary Wycliff champagne was lovely.
The food was exquisite in every way. The service was friendly and we felt very welcomed.
The restaurant is right on the beach and the waves were breaking at our feet.
We chose to sit inside but the huge windows were opened and it felt like we were outside.
Great place. Well worth it...
Excellent food choices and great service. Well worth a short drive from No. Kihei. The view from the outside dining Area is fabulous.
Stunning views, friendly staff and great food made for an enjoyable dinner experience! We also like going here for their happy hour.
Great view and fantastic food in very good quality. The service was outstanding and perfect.
The 5 Palms dining experience was out of this world. The food was fabulous as was our waiter. An experience we will not soon forget
We’re here visiting Maui for our early 40th Anniversary. And it’s Mothers’ Day as well. I made reservations to enjoy a nice dinner with my husband for my Mothers’ Day. Nothing was indicated beforehand that the only type of meal that you were able to have was a Mother’s Day buffet brunch. So we get there anticipating a nice dinner with someone to wait on us. We go in and they seated us at a table inside that had a booth for more than two people. I told the hostess that I didn’t care for that table and couldn’t really talk to my husband too well the way this table was configured. I told the hostess that we could wait there in the dining room while she found us another table
and she rudely said no you can come back out here with me. She told us to sit down and wait. We waited and she finally put us outside where we were squeezed into a corner and plenty of noise with people everywhere with bathing suits on. We felt that we were committed and couldn’t leave since we had given our credit card in advance to hold the reservation. And at the last minute and not knowing the area where were we going to go!? The food was so-so and for the price we paid it basically wasn’t worth it at all. $59.95 each before tax and tip was outrageous. I was so depressed for the rest of the day and my husband tried to make the best out of a bad situation. He said he felt bad about my dinner and thought the food was totally not worth what we paid and was so disappointed that we didn’t have that nice dinner out that we thought we were going to have. We had read the reviews about this restaurant and how good the food was and that’s why we made our reservation for Mothers’ Day there.
After having an incredible experience one previous time several years ago, tonight was a huge disappointment. The only thing that saved our experience was our incredible server! While the food presentations were great, it was the food, from entree to dessert, that really missed the mark. Their "En Bastile" lacked flavor and the fish had a mushy texture. Great concept, just wasn't executed properly. Then, our dessert came with broken whipped cream. I was amazed that the kitchen over-whipped it to the point of butter, but they still served it. And when brought to the attention of our server, we only received an apology and an assurance she would let the kitchen know. How does a higher end dinner house miss on whipping cream? This was the finishing touch to remind us of a poorly managed kitchen. After leaving, we waited 10 minutes for the Valet to show up so we could get our car. We drove away very disappointed about our experience.
Refreshing breeze from the ocean nearby and upbeat but decent atmosphere. Most of all, staff’s warm hospitality. Four thumbs up (two from myself and another two from my beatiful wife😍)
It wa one of our top-3 dinners in Maui during our trip. We will definitely come back.
Cannot beat the sunset views, the delicious food and terrific service!
Great ambience, nice waiter and the food was great. The check in service wasn't so great but once in everything was good.
I was disappointed on several counts. First, the ocean/beach front settings is 4-5 star. The rest is mediocre at best. The food (we had the 'fresh fish" special - opah with what was an interesting bread crumb stuffing that supposedly had lobster - never saw or tasted any) and a 'likikoi hollandaise ' over the top. One cherry tomato cut in 2 and positioned as fish eyes... eh. The fish was a bit dryer than it should have been and my favorite bite was the mini scoop of mashed purple yams. We chose the chocolate lava cake which was sold to us as a souffle - NOT even close... it was ok but we were expecting a souffle not a lava sludge cake. Also - dont ask for a decaf to enjoy with your dessert - too much trouble apparently. . Then the crowning disappointment for me.. being presented a ck with the gratutity already included with a line asking for "additional gratutity'. We were a party of 3. Now. Its a shame. As i usually tip 30% for really great service but their 20% auto tip disappointed me as did the service. BTW..I do NOT dock tips for disappointing food. And FURTHER the server chased me down to 'see if everything was ok' as i have provided him with an additional tip to the apparently mandatory 20%. Ive eaten at 5 palms multiple times and have not noticed this before- however- i will not be back for any reason due to the mandatory tip policy.
Used to have a tasting dinner.
Terrible waiters. No water refills.
Forgot our dinner order.
Waste of time and money.
The view truly makes this restaurant. Very romantic. The coconut shrimp are sublime ! The gnocchi could be better. Overall a lovely evening.
Go for the incredible sunset view, drinks and pupus (appetizers) but not for the main dish food. In 12 years I’ve never had a great meal there and been disappointed more than once. The breakfast is better than dinner and the lunch salads are decent too. It’s a shame because the location is perfect and the friendly staff do their best. The kitchen simply can’t get it right. Yet. I keep hoping!!
Every time we come to Maui, we have at least one brunch at 5 Palms, because we love the view and people watching, while dining. The service is always fantastic and very attentive. The food is always made correctly, and they have some delicious options that are favourites, and new ones that we're excited to try. The restaurant overlooks the well-manicured grounds and beach beyond. It's fun to watch the littles build their sand castles, and see the assortment of people walking by and tanning on the beach, or just going about their activities. Paddle boarding and snorkeling are two sports that take place within view of the restaurant, which are so interesting to watch, as well.
I took my wife here for her birthday. I was a little leery as some reviews were not favorable. We found the service, food and views to be exceptional. I’m so glad I chose here. My wife thoroughly enjoyed everything about it.
Entrance through bar with sketchy hostess was awkward, waitress lacked any kind of personality or enthusiasm, food was way overpriced - bread was dry, ‘fresh prawn cocktail’ tasted frozen, and the prawns in my pasta were over cooked to the point of tough and chewy. Full sushi menu but Waitress all but steered us away. Weird experience and for the price I would never eat there again or suggest it to anyone i know. Only redeeming factor was water view. Really disappointed we listed to the ‘good’ reviews and chose it for one of our special dinners on our trip. Never again!
Dasha was amazing!!!!! She kept well hydrated and she was so sweet!!!!! Food was delicious!!! The view was to die for!!!!!
The waitress was a young girl and I could hardly hear her. Seemed like she really didn’t want to be there
This restaurant offers indoor and outdoor seating. The outdoor seating affords you a scenic view of sunset. Their menu is varied. I had the gnocchi and it was delicious. We also shared a fresh fruit desert with ice cream.
The food was expensive and not of terrific quality. One of our group made a comment that it was more indicative of grocery store sushi than a high end restaurant. We ate at a number of outdoor restaurants during our week long stay on Maui, and there were more bugs at the table here than any of them including eating outdoors in the wilds of Olinda.
Food was good, purchased the sunset special which was 3 courses good value but unfortunately the server Tara was not friendly never bothered to offer second drinks and was not at all sociable definitely reduced the enjoyment of the evening. Too bad as it’s a beautiful location
Great location on the beach in Wailea/Kihei area. Very excellent service from Cole, and Hannah saved us an excellent table as I made Rez well in advance as only on the Island for one day (off a cruise ship). Highly recommended!!
The chef specials were amazing. Awesome sushi. Very delighted with everything.
Lunch was delicious! Has the lobster sandwich. Great service.
Special for the evening was Ono. It was mushy. Tasted bland. Not fresh and flaky as described.
I do not recall her name, but our server was a most excellent server and so friendly. She knew such detail about the menu! We celebrated my husbands 70th birthday and he complimented her on being the BEST waitress in all his 70 years. She was outstanding. She gave him complimentary cheesecake after learning it was his 70th bday. We felt such genuine warmth and care from her. The food was just prepared perfectly and presented with flare on the plate. Nice...totally nice.
Excellent food. Service was good to start then by the end, we felt completely ignored. Had walk to the front to get attention to pay our bill so we could leave. Left a bad impression.
They went out of their way to give us a fabulous table!
Food and service were wonderful.
The "jumbo prawns" were far from jumbo and so overcooked as to be inedible. Service was lackluster. Seriously over priced
Great ambiance, but food was blunt and cocktails were just full of ice... at best. I know you pay a premium for a view in HI, but this is definitely overpriced and not worth $$
Brought up memories of Chez Michel in HNL in the 1980s. Lovely dinner.
Sunday brunch. Not enough food.
Easter brunch not anything special for $50 per person
It’s beautiful but buffet was so so. Staff was very friendly and attentive!
Wonderful experience all the way around! All you could hear were the waves crashing (albeit small waves) Amber our server was fantastic. Never felt rushed and never went without want!
