On our visit to Maui we always go to 5 Palms for the ambiance and also the good food.
Pleasant restaurant with good food but service is mixed and could be better in places.
will try again this week and hope for better.
Ambiance was great, table was in an odd area of the restaurant and service was very slow. Food was pretty good.
Over priced for mediocre sea food - very few gluten free options for my wife - surprising for upscale establishment - our entree’s came out while we were in the middle of our starters and they were both Luke warm
Waiter needs to be a little more attentive also made a major mistake on the bill charge us for another couples bill hand wrote void on the ticket lane excuse about bad eyesight had to get to the manager to clear it up not happy about that
We used to like 5 Palms a lot, but they have priced themselves out of our budget!
The sunsets are unbelievable at this restaurant. Ashley was awesome and treated us well. Food was super and we will be back....mahalo
They’ve put their prices up so much recently that it is no longer worth it. I think they really take advantage of people that are their once a year. Excellent food and ambiance depending on where you sit. Noisy if you sit near the bar. Won’t be going back until they put on a decently priced special on again.
A wonderful dinner at an amazingly beautiful place!
Great food, ambiance, atmosphere, and staff. Would recommend this restaurant to friends and family
Service and food were amazing. Sat outside which was lovely. Ah was perfectly served.
We come here for the view on the lanai. Breakfast , lunch and dinner is always good but you are paying for the view. We had monchong special and poke bowl and the were good. Service was good until celebrity showed up and our service went downhill . Will go there again for breakfast, lunch , or dinner !!
One of our favourite spots on the planet. Food was great and service fantastic. Thanks
Nothing beats ocean front dining that includes really good food. Excellent service and decent pricing. The only thing you hear is the sound of waves. One of my favorite restaurants in Kihei.
Entree's of Ahi and MahiMahi were Very good but Very small portions for the price. Salads were nice but again, Very expensive. Difficult to enjoy our meal in the cold wind! Might go back if they serve lunch so we can see the setting.
Love the 5 Palms.
Excellent Service and excellent food, although a bit pricey. We made reservations to celebrate a Birthday and would do it again.
The one and only issue for me, and it was really not that big of a deal, was that the bus boys were no where to be found, and did not clean up our plates following our meal; we had to ask a passing waitress to help out..... but really, that is not a complaint, just a small nit.
Overall, I would recommend 5 Palms, in particular, for a special occasion. You will not be disappointed.
Our waitress was awesome! Great ambiance and great food!!
If you are seeking ambience by the Oceanside with the possibility of Wales breaching the water and beautiful sunsets then pay the price. Average entre $45 Otherwise this restaurant has lost its edge on culinary delights. Salads that look factory assembled, missed named beef selections in their surf and turf with lobster that was dry and over salted. The veggie dish was very nice and the fish special was ample if not oversized.
The hosts are very kind and the evening was pleasant however as with every venue in Maui one needs to be prepared for the sticker shock. A modest meal for four with a baseline white wine will set you back $300 plus gratuity.
Very expensive. View amazing. Whales jumping nearby. Waitress was run off her feet. Definitely understaffed. Ordered wine when my meal came and it arrived when we ordered dessert. It was our 10 year anniversary dinner and I made a note on our reservation. They never mentioned it, not a big deal. Heard them congratulate the couple next to us though. It was pretty busy there though. Don’t think we would go back even though that’s where we had our wedding dinner and all of our anniversary dinners (4 times we’ve made it back to the island)
Too costly food not tastey, too expensive and not enough food selections.
Service was good, steak done well. Not much on menu for non meat eaters. Pasta dish was fine but nothing special for the price. Ordered a drink on the rocks but came straight up, just added ice from water. Pricey but great ambiance with ocean view table which made the whole experience!
We head to 5 Palms every year when we visit Maui. The views are outstanding and the food is great. Nearly every time, we get a whale show. Brian was our server - and I remember him from last year. Professional and attentive server. Great experience. We will be back again next year!!!
Our 12th anniversary. Lovely service. Great food. We were welcomed with champagne. Very nice. Mahalo!
Although the meal was OK, it didn't meet the standards of the past. I was also disappointed that the torches were not lit.
My Hama kama was not hot and it was undercooked and not worth it for the price. Ordering a salad was expensive enough but if you wanted to add chicken, it was another $17! That’s ridiculous. I won’t go back for dinner (happy hour—maybe).
A little pricey for the amount you get but presentation is top notch.
Not much for Vegan choices.
The Five Palms is a wonderful place to dine. It’s hard to beat the view and food, yet be comfortable dressing very casual , if you wish.
We started with a Mai Tai each and they were very good. I had the roasted rack of lamb and it was perfect! Not too thin and not too thick. Very flavorful, served hot and cooked just the way I ordered it. It was served with mashed potatoes and a few asparagus. I had no leftovers even though I’m not a big eater. If you do have a larger appetite, I would recommend adding an appetizer or salad.
My husband had the seared ahi and said it was very good. I didn’t try it because I was so consumed with my lamb!
Servers were friendly but not intrusive. They made sure we had what we needed and discretely removed dirty dishes and glasses.
We are going back tonight.
Worst restaurant experience on Maui. Our server was pleasant but very lacking in customer service, long waits in between checking on us, never once checked on us after receiving our meals and lots of dirty dishes left on our table for long lengths.
We wanted a nice bachelorette get together for happy hour and ended up with a formal dining room and sushi roll for $36, just the beginning.....So costly it was unbelievable and very disappointing.
I was also way overcharged for my wine, if I hadn’t paid close attention to my bill then, nice perk for 5 Palms. I ended up getting a credit on my card.
To sum things up, avoid coming here unless you have no regard for high cost, poor service, hot sun with no recourse in the early evening and very possible over charging.
Also, I had the ribs and they were very salty, the sweet potatoes were nondescript there was no salad unless I wanted to pay an extra $16! So ostentatious and overpriced. Never again.
This was our second time eating at 5 Palms and unfortunately it was very different than our last experience. We are extremely disappointed. Our table location was perfect as it was on the edge overlooking the ocean and the stunning sunset. That was the best part.
Our server was borderline rude and clearly didn’t want to be there. He barley spoke two words to us as we tried to ask him questions. The coconut shrimp appetizer was greatly overcooked and when I ordered the Mahi Mahi, it was so spicy I couldn’t even eat it. When the server came over we told him it was far to spicy to eat ( my husband loves spicy food and couldn’t eat this) he said “ well yah, it’s made with local flare”. We asked him what they meant and he said “ extremely hot”...probably something he should have told us before we ordered. He asked if I needed more water and than walked away clearly seeing I couldn’t touch my meal. He didn’t bother to try to help me order something else or bring over a menu. So I sat there having bits of my husbands meal. My husband ordered the ribs. They were ok but were just over saturated in sauce. As it was a special birthday dinner it was a major letdown. The first time we went a couple years ago it was such a perfect meal. We won’t be going back.
Five Palms is always dependable for high quality food, great service and outstanding ocean views.
Best restaurant in the Wailea/Kihei Area.
Words cannot express how stunning the view of the ocean was. Having been in Maui for 8 days we had managed to see more whales from our table in one 2hr seating than we had since our arrival. Food was fantastic and the service was great.
The service was great and the location right on the beach is outstanding. The spicy shrimp appetizer was very good but the coconut shrimp appetizer was not very good. The ribs were so tough we could not eat them and we had two people order them do it wasn’t just a bad rack. Too bad as it made us not even want to stay for dessert.
Great service, wonderful fool the view can not be beat. We always enjoy going to 5 Palms for Breakfast. We love seating there enjoying our coffee looking at the Gorgeous view. It is a perfect way to star the day.
Brian our waiter was fantastic and fellow Bostonian!
Cole was our adorable server! Food was awesome and view was gorgeous! Can’t wait to go back!
Best filet I’ve had in years! Beautiful sunset to boot...we had a great evening
The location of this restaurant is the best. Fabulous view of the ocean and beach. We both had the fresh fish and it was excellent. A little pricey but not far off similar restaurants.
Great views, food and fabulous service. Our waitress, Lillian was extraordinary!
We two attended the 5 Palms for the seafood and the sunset. Neither disappointed, although at USD$225 (including tip) the price was high. Our server, Brian, was just perfectly attentive, not overbearing at all.
The view down the beach to the south, is spectacular.
The "Maui" lobster (Atlantic, but farmed locally) was quite good. The Wedge Salad could have used more blue cheese, and more dressing in general. And maybe a little bacon. My gold standard for Wedge Salad will always be the Gordon Biersch Pub in San Francisco.
