We had a wonderful time celebrating my birthday!! Thank you to everyone who made me feel so special!!
Terrific view and excellent food! A perfect combination of good food and ambiance.
appetizers and cocktails were amazing. Unfortunately the entrees couldn't match them: chicken was over cooked and catch of the day was over priced. Server and view were wonderful. Would try them again.
It’s nice to be next to the beach, but $42 dollars for a steak that is cooked uneven so parts are well done and it’s supposed to be medium rare is something I can not recommend. The asparagus was over cooked as well but the potatoes were good.
Normally one of our favorite spots for lunch or dinner, the kitchen was ‘off their game’ this night. The main dishes came out luke warm, and the rack of pork ribs was overcooked and not as tasty as expected. A rare slip for a normally fine restaurant.
Very disappointing! Too crowded, wait staff took far too long to take our orders, wait for food was long, even bread took 20 minutes to arrive. Dinner food was pretty good but not worth the price. I won’t go again.
Fancy place right on the beach, loved it!
It's always a treat to go to 5 Palms...even though I live on Maui! Incredible setting. Great food. Very good service. What's not to love?
We have enjoyed going to 5 Palms for many years. The view can not be better. Our favorite time to go is breakfast. We figure what a great way to start the day. Great food, wonderful service, and outstanding view.
We arrived and Kellie sat us right on the edge of the beautiful sunset view. Our Server Marci was personable and attentive. The food was awesome and we plan to dine again there the night before we fly home.
Great dinner experience. Come for the sunset, stay for dinner and a spectacular outdoor setting. Food was well prepared and delicious!
Came here to celebrate Son’s Birthday Breakfast. The food & Service was Ok. Nothing Special. Not sure if we will be back soon.
A bit disappointing. Everything I hear about this place surrounds Happy Hour which would coincide with the sunset. That makes sense for this restaurant has a remarkable view to enjoy. The problem is a restaurant needs more than that to flourish. My wife and I chose to go here for our anniversary dinner which was noted in our open table reservation. It has become very apparent this year that restaurants could care less about open table 'VIP' status but one would think they would pay attention to special occasions. The host did not mention a word to us and neither did our server about our special night being spent with them. It seemed like the staff here was just going through the motions and when you compare that to other high-end restaurants it is not very becoming. The food was very good but the staff's lethargic attitudes dampen the experience. A great restaurant somehow finds the magic to make you feel like you are the most important guest they will serve that evening.
Good food, service and location. Taste of morning coffee was extremely good!
5 palms is a special place for us. We were married on the beach in front and had our reception there to follow. We have been back multiple tones and always enjoy our meal and service. Breakfast, lunch and dinner all have great menus.
Saw that the restaurant had a points-special through Opentable and we were very happy with both the food and service. We split sushi and a gnocchi dish and I have to say both were comparable with some of the higher-end restaurants that we have been to on Maui. Definitely a spot to try that is under-the-radar.
No comment on this restaurant.
I just say, Terrible.
Dinner and Pupus from the happy hour menu was very good. Can't beat the location, right on the beach and a short walk from where we stayed.
Hostess was very pleasant and warm greeting. That and sunset view was the best part of whole experience. Waitress went MIA most of the night. My husband had to go find staff as we need stuff. My food was not great. The noodles were oily and rubbery. The price of each plate was so overpriced. I do not mind paying good money if food is great. Very disappointed.
My original dinner order was undercooked and they were very nice about bringing me a different fish dish which I really enjoyed. The manager checked up on me and they also gave us a discount. Great service!
"Five Palms" is one of our two favorite restaurants on Maui (the other is "Sarento's" right next door). The food is absolutely delicious . . . well crafted, well-prepared, and well worth the price. Service is generally very warm and attentive, and the setting is among the most romantic and beautiful anywhere. It is almost like sitting right on the beach. The sunsets are absolutely spectacular, and the opportunity to dine on such a beautiful outdoor patio, under the softly rustling palm trees, with the sweet sound of the waves gently lapping the shore, is both precious and rare. It is a GREAT place for breakfast, lunch, or dinner. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED!!!
I used to love the breakfast. But this tome it wasn’t great. My food was cold and the patty was over cooked and my eggs were terrible. I recommend people come here. But not sure I will anymore for breakfast.
All around good experience!
Great service and value for happy hour. However, don't sit on terrace because service extremely SLOW and you pay 3x as much for the same food.
The ambience is absolutely amazing specially with the open air location next to a beautiful beach. And the service is excellent too. However several of the dishes we had were poor in taste. The miso-based fish soup was unpalatable, and none of us finished it. It was too salty and overly fishy. That kind of set a bad tone for the rest of our meal. In fact most of the entrees were also too salty, as if the chef is heavy handed with salt. I tried the sushi, which was also kind of mediocre for the price with decent fish. I tried a bite from my kids mahi mahi and that was excellent! I would probably return again, but only for drinks and appetizers, not for dinner.
We were running late and they were very considerate when it came down to everything. We got there and already had our food ready for we ordered before the kitchen closed. The food was amazing and also the drinks. Totally love the ocean ambiance!
Wonderful ocean view and reasonably good service. Price point for the food was good and taste was above average. Enjoyed the time!
My wife has celiac, so we often judge (at least part of) our experience at a restaurant by how confidently a server can speak to which menu items have gluten, and which items can allow substitutions. For most people, gluten isn't and shouldn't be on their radar, but if you work at a restaurant, food allergies need to be standard job training. Everywhere.
I got a bit nervous when our server said that my wife would need to stay away from one menu item "because of the rice". We were able to correct her and say that rice does not have gluten, but for us, any mistakes like that leave us very uneasy; what other items do or don't they know about the gluten content?
The pork ribs I got were fantastic- fell right off the bone; and we ended up with a meal for my wife that we were confident didn't have gluten, and she was pleased too.
That said, I left with kind of a negative experience because of our server, the cherry on top being a moment where she asked me "do you want your roll?", insinuating that it was included and though my wife wouldn't be having one, I should at least get mine. Turns out, that roll cost $12. How about phrasing that question a little differently?
Great ambience outside and good food, but the service was lousy.
Disappointed. We’ve dined here on other occasions and the food was great. This time food was just bland and the service was not good. Our waitress took our order and brought our check. No checkin no nothing. Should have gone to Nicks!
Very nice place with a fantastic view for susets!!!!
The meal with the ribs was not good, because one part of the ribs were old and warmed up.
The two fish meals were o.k, but not really good.
The location is ideal with a beautiful outdoor patio overlooking to ocean. The menu sounded very enticing but the plates were sloppily presented and flavors muddy.
July- 3 course meal special was good!
Caesar salad, lobster/filet and chocolate mousse dessert. It was good.
Had the lobster and steak special and it was good. Nice view of the beach.
Nice family dinner by the beach was amazing !!
Great food and lovely atmosphere. We loved our time here.
The food was average but not great. The service was very good but the pool noise is a bit distracting.
Best meal we had in maui
Wonderful location for a restaurant. The service was great and the food was excellent! Great for breakfast on the beach!
