A word from Workshop Kitchen + Bar
Dedicated to food, drink, design, and community. Workshop Kitchen + Bar is Palm Spring's newest gem in the heart of the Uptown Design District.
Located in the Class 1 Historic El Paseo building from 1926, Workshop’s Industrial chic interior gives the historic space a contemporary edge befitting the locale.

Our kitchen is based around seasonal products from local farms, so the menu changes often. Although "Americana" may best describe the style of our food, influences are many. Favorite techniques in the kitchen include our wood-fired pizza oven, wood-fired grill, and custom sous-vide station.
The bar looks mostly to American classics and carefully homemade basics. Original cocktails vary with the market's availability and our bartender's mood.

* Please note: Booth seating is limited and is reserved for parties of 3 - 6. We will do our best to accommodate your requests, but make no guarantees. For special requests, please call us at (760) 459-3451. *

Diner Reviews
  • "After finishing Coachella festival with my partner we wanted a nice dinner to really finish our break well before heading home to London. After seeing a picture of Workshop on Instagram and falling for the design I decided to give it a google and was impressed by the menu and craft cocktails on offer. Value for money is decent and if you want somewhere to escape the everyday I would give this go!!"

  • "Great place for brunch with many healthy, vegetarian options."

  • "Table was ready as promised, we did get a booth because we had a party of four. The food was very tasty, fresh and just the right portion amount. The bottomless mimosa was worth the price, juice used was very fresh."

  • "Lived everything about workshop. We had many items on the menu; brussel sprouts, pâté, beets, pork chop (amazing) steak (to die for) kale salad. I would say all were outstanding. The desserts were stunning. Had the chocolate cake, lemon tart, and affogato. Loved, loved. Highly reccomend outdoor seating, quieter, and gorgeous. I'll be back as soon as I can get back to PS."

  • "They had some cancellations so we were able to get a booth instead of sitting at the communal table. The food didn't wow us like it did the first time we were here but it was still a good meal. We had the chicken diavolo and the Brussel sprout salad. The service is still inconsistent and could be improved. It took the waiter about 10 minutes to get to the table so we went ahead and ordered since we didn't know when he would come back. The food and drinks came at the same time. We were told it would be a few minutes for bread since it was coming out of the oven. What we got wasn't hot or even warm but very dried out. "

  • "The workshop was a great dinner experience. Try the app of fried goat cheese and lentils. Highly recommended!"

  • "Waited too long for our order as the kitchen 'lost our ticket' not really acceptable for the prices. Waiter was great and gave us one free dessert but wouldn't come back "

  • "This amazing located restaurant, has a great outdoor patio and wonderful loft like interior. The building is very historical and has been a furniture store, city council and even a 1950s movie theatre. The foods is extraordinary and I really recommend the vegetarian enchiladas which are out of this world. Also the bar is a pure mixology bar with amazing cocktail that have a vivid and fun descriptions. You will definitely hear people talking about the food of this restaurant and how if you want handcrafted amazing cocktails then you have to go to Workshop."

  • "The wine menu is outrageous as only one, and I mean that literally, bottle is priced reasonably. Not a single main course appealed to the three in our party and the waitress advised that the fish was tiny. We settled on a hamburger, Ho him, risotto, too much starch for a main course, and vegetable enchiladas, yes, they were as bad as they sound. The starters were quite good though. The booths are uncomfortable and if you end up in the center table be prepared for a bad experience. Go here for a drink before or after you eat elsewhere as the bar staff are quite good and visually the room looks great. Pity the main courses do not rise to the occasion."

  • "Workshop delighted from start to finish. Everything about it is fresh and creative and while it is serious about farm to table it doesn't take itself too seriously. There were 6 of us and we passed around each dish because we wanted to share with the others every wonderful dish. Workshop is a restaurant that would be outstanding in any city."

  • "Finally a restaurant in Palm Springs that incorporates ambiance, service and a commitment to fresh ingredients prepared an excellent chef. There are way too many restaurants that aren't about the total experience. Hopefully the locals support it!"

  • "We took an impromptu trip to Palm Springs and found this gem. Great bar, great service, best of all great food."

  • "The communal table is a centerpiece of this restaurant, which we did not realize. The restaurant has 10 booths. Although 5 of the booths were empty, we were placed between 2 families at the communal. When we asked for a booth, we were told none were available. When we asked if we could sit at the end of the communal, we we're told it had to be saved for a large party. Eating at the bar was the other option offered. It was too late to make other plans, so we reluctantly ate. There was at least one empty booth the entire time we ate. Although the communal table was half empty at times, we saw the hostess send others to the bar. The seating policy made us feel like it was our privilege to dine there. I couldn't go back or recommend."

  • "The menu was difficult to figure out and determine if the items were individual or meant to be shared, partially because of the high price on starters and salads. The waiter explained things only after prompted and with our group asking questions. It is very expensive for the meals and everything is ala carte. I think the menu is very limited if you bring people who don't have experience with more unique food or a sophisticated palate. ex: Oxtail Hamburger. There are so many great restaurants in the area we would not go back."

  • "Restaurant recommended by our local Minneapolis food critic. Didn't disappoint. Loved the variety of small plates. Service was prompt and our waitress was helpful in recommending great dishes."

  • "My husband and I came here on a Tuesday evening in April. The place was packed. You definitely need a reservation. The space is very cool- ultra modern even by Palms Springs standards. We loves the hand made craft cocktails and the farm to table menu. There are booths and a large communal table. We requested (in advance) and received a booth. The booth is definitely best for couples. The communal table had larger groups and groups with children."

  • "This was definitely one of our top ten meals ever. Food is creatively prepared, fresh and amazing flavor. Meals are small enough that you can sample a multitude of menu items. Inside was comfortably loud - not a quiet intimate restaurant by any means, but social and a great crowd. Service was exceptional. We still haven't stopped talking about it!"

  • "I took my sister and brother in law to this restaurant. They have an organic grass fed farm in New Jersey and ar used to really healthy simple tasty food. I was so pleased Workshop Kitchen expresses a real respect for food, and actually served real organic farm to table food. The food was great. It spoke for itself in freshness and vitality and great flavor. The dishes had an integrity and simplicity that can only happen when real food is the basic ingredient. I would go back any time I am in Palm Springs. WE ate Alfresco in the patio with the sky above. It was a great pleasure."

  • "We made our reservation late the afternoon of our planned visit and had no problem getting the reservation. However, when we arrived, we were seated at the end of a very long table down the middle of the restaurant on stools. There were several other groups along the table - not immediatly adjacent but very close. They also have booths but we couldn't get one. Service was very friendly and the servers and bus people were well-informed. Food was different but very good and very fresh. THe portions were a little small."

  • "The food was excellent - best in the desert! Every fish was prepared with care. Cocktails made with in-house prepared ingredients were top notch. Don't miss this place."

  • "Workshop has improved their game. Brunch was wonderful, with a nice selection of items -- lobster burrito, fried chicken and waffles (apparently an East Coast favorite), croissant BLT, duck confit hash, etc. The bottomless mimosas for $12 are especially delicious, because they pour excellent bubbly (not the usual plonk that passes for "champagne"). Service has gotten quite attentive, and the modernistic courtyard is a pleasure."

  • "My wife and I both loved Workshop. The decor is cleaned lined and modern and the food was fabulous. We shared a couple of small plates to start and then chose an entree. All were great and nicely presented. Other diners were just sharing a variety of small plates and either option would work well. Service was friendly and very attentive. We will definitely be back!"

  • "ONLY I would remember to request a booth or patio dining when I booked my reservation. My date does not like the communal table so we ended up taking bar seats because our 8:30 reservation was going to be 9-9:30 for a booth and 9:30-10 for outside dining. Specialty cocktails are delightful - pate always pleases and dinner is delish"

  • "This restaurant has all the ingredients to be great, but it is not there yet with the food. The menu is wonderful, very inventive with unusual ingredients. The combinations just did not quite make it. For example, the small plate with gizzards and lentils sounded divine, but the lentils were mushy and overcooked and as were the gizzards. The fresh brussel spout salad was very good, but needed a bit of zest in the dressing. The spinach salad was bland and overdressed, so the greens were wilted. On the up side, the octopus small plate was very good and something you would never have elsewhere. The roasted peppers were divine. I would not go back until some time has passed for the chef to work out the kinks."

  • "All was perfect - food, service, little touches such as high quality wine glasses. We loved the roast chicken but would have liked to try everything on the menu. Workshop stands head and shoulders above other restaurants in Palm Springs."

  • "This place was recommended to us by friends who own a home in PS. I am so glad we took their advice. We went on a Monday evening, so we had no problem making a rez on OpenTable and the restaurant wasn't too busy. It was a lovely, warm evening so we ate outside on their patio under the stars (a thrill for a couple of still-frozen northern boys). Beautiful space/ambiance; friendly, unobtrusive service; and hands-down the best meal we ate in Palm Springs all week. I would go back to Workshop Kitchen in a flash."

  • "We chose this place on a whim based on a Zagat blog post. The ambiance was great, the food was pretty good, but the service was mediocre. Our server seemed irritated when we had questions about the menu, and when a really sub-par dessert arrived, he was hesitant to swap it out for something different. I'd go again sometime since it seemed so promising, but I'd be unlikely to return again unless our second experience was much better than the first."

  • "Workshop Bistro excellent for food and drinks. Original martini, Mertage wines were excellent. Steel-head fish was great, Scallops were outstanding. The Brusslesprout salad was the best ever. Nothing we had was less than excellent. Must go!!!"

  • "The decor is minimalistic; in fact it resembled me on a jail diner I had to visit sometimes through a job a long time ago. Anyway the food was very good with the exception of the duck liver pate, I ordered. I knew it is not going to be a foie gras pate but it was very bitter (full with bile)."

  • "The food was ok, wait service attentive. The hostess and seating arrangements were appalling. We were a reservation of two, arriving to a near empty resteraunt, to be told that that booths were for large parties. We were seated, alone at the massive uncomfortable table in the center of the room. After about 30 minutes alone in the room, hostess started seating couple after couple in the booths, yet there we remained alone on display, no intimacy. We used to the best of the best in NY and globally, we somehow felt part of some wierd hierarchical or seating chess game based on status or dress or dress or something else. Not cool at all, particularly with these prices. They could have a gem here, but not with these front house tactics."

  • "After eating at Workshop twice, I had to write a review because I think it's such a great restaurant. And a refreshing change from most of the eateries in PS. The contemporary design is industrial-chic, no tiki's and no turquoise here. The food is creative, with bright flavors and interesting combinations. The wait staff is attentive and knowledgable. The wine list is excellent."
