Normally an excellent choice, especially when attending an event at Kauffman. This evening however, my wife ordered salmon and found it "salty". This may be more a personal choice and others may have found it to be fine. The kitchen did mix-up my order and sent me the wrong main course but quickly made it right. So all in all the Webster House is still our choice for dining when attending a Kauffman event or anytime for that matter. My wife enjoys arriving a little early so she can browse the store and seems to always find a "must-have". One of downtown KCs best.

Webster House was the perfect place to have brunch before going to a Sunday afternoon performance at the Kauffman. The food and service were great. After brunch, we had plenty of time to wander through the ground floor shops. Will definitely do this again!

Enjoyed every minute and every morsel of my Sunday brunch experience. The waiter was very helpful and pleasant. We arrived for a 1030 am reservation which was perfect. Not to busy and they made us feel very welcome. The food was very good. Presentation was great, ingredients fresh and tasty. Prices for what we got very reasonable. Plan on returning soon.

I would recommend this place. Definitely get the fried green tomato appetizer. It is a delightful presentation!! The food was wonderful except the kale salad was not tenderized. We specifically asked if the kale salad was tenderized. We were told it was by the table server. The only other recommendation I would give is to the wait staff. Our table staff member was good but she & the under staff were not trained to clean the table at the proper time, nor were they aware to hold the food hot until a table member returned from the wash room. It was left on the table to get cold until that person arrived back. This would be a 5 star recommendation if the wait staff was trained & the table server knew to ask the chef' about the preparation.

Figured $30 plates were moderately priced. We ended up spending around $115 for 2 for entree, appetizer and bottle of wine, less tip. Mussels were good but small as we split them. One piece of garlic toast was burnt. We used our "bread plates" for the appetizer since no other substitute was offered, then when bread was brought no additional plates were offered which was kind of awkward. I ran out of wine once and had to pour my own...no big deal but with the moderate pricing service would be expected. Portions were small. My wife had the pasta which read like it would have seafood in it...none that was really visible it was sweet and ok. I got the scallops. They tasted fine, the spinach salad tasted like a bacon with mayo.

Four of us "girls" went to celebrate a birthday and it was delightful. None of us had been to Webster House before so we didn't know what to expect. We were so happy we chose to go here - and we will be back again! The food was wonderful, the wait staff was very attentive and the atmosphere was great - not too noisy, you didn't have to shout to speak to one another.

We dined here Saturday night Oct 4. Our whole experience was perfect really. The food was wonderful (my hub had short rib campanelle and I had the scallops...which you get 3 of :-( At least one more would've been nice.) The house salad is very tasty. My husband had the Caesar and liked it a lot. The only setback, at first, is that our female server seemed inexperienced and new at the job, a bit confused about martini offerings and type of Irish whiskey available. Other than that, a perfect night!

Did they change Chefs? Monthly/weekly? menu selection was not up to par. No soups were offered either. Taste of my entree was bland. Even their house salad/ dressing was not what it used to be. Still loved their ice tea! Sadly, I'm crossing this off one of my fave places to dine before a show downtown.

We went to the Webster house 90 minutes before the curtain for a performance of the symphony at Kaufman Center just in the next block. We had a lovely dinner, unhurried, and made the performance in plenty of time. Dinner felt unrushed even though our server was making sure that we stayed on schedule. Our three dinners were tasty as we sat in the lovely library. We even had time for shopping on our way in and out.

Always go here before a show at the Kaufman next door. Webster House has its own parking lot that is easier to use than the Kaufman lot. Unique atmosphere, best restrooms anywhere. Food is top notch and service is excellent (but at a slow pace). Wonderful place to take out-of-towners as it is unique with the store downstairs (allow time for browsing). Highly recommended.

I ordered the Tuna Nicoise Salad. I ordered the tuna medium rare and it was served well-done. The tuna was chewy. The salad portion was very small, for a $16 salad. Service was marginal. We were never brought bread, we were never asked how our food was tasting after it was served and our water glasses were never refilled until after we had finished our meals. While I enjoy shopping at the Webster House, our lunch experience on a not so busy weekday was very disappointing.

We are from Kansas City, but are living in Houston. When visiting relatives in KC, a visit to the Webster House - usually for lunch - is always in order. Having just visited Charleston, SC, I immediately picked up on the "low-country" items, e.g., shrimp and grits. A real treat. All food items were great and our server, Caroline, was very knowledgeable and attentive. All dining rooms are charming. We ate at a number of places during our recent 10-day visit, but the Webster House was our favorite! Keep up the excellent work.

We ate at Webster House on a Friday evening. Our seating was in the "Library" - the cozy and upscale bar. It was a special occasion for me, I was treating my favorite mentor to dinner. Everyone in our party enjoyed their food - Steak, Salmon and Lamb - all cooked to perfection. Be aware - the food is quite decadent so as normally quite healthy eaters we all vowed to stick to oatmeal and veggies the following day. Our server, Brandon, was excellent. We will definitely return.

We have dined at Webster House many times and have always had an enjoyable meal. We had a couple from out of town and there were four of us. The meal was excellent as usual but the service was absolutely poor. We were greeted appropriately by a server. She took our order and we never saw her again. I flagged down someone from the wait staff and someone else was finally assigned to our table but even then service was slow. I hope this is unusual and does not become routine. Thanks.

I was disappointed at my latest experience at the Webster House. I have always enjoyed it in the past. I had an out of town guest with me. We had been there before together. This time the service was not as good as the past. My friend's salad arrived late, was overly salted, and the chilled fork seemed to have been in the freezer. One of my shrimps was cooked well, the other was undercooked. The server seemed inept. The entire experience was below the standard of the Webster House.

This is one of the best restaurants Kansas City has to offer. We sat at the chefs table, which is a four seat bar that is nestled up to the kitchen. Watching the kitchen staff and chef prepare the meals was like watching a well orchestrated dance. Everything that we ordered was mouth watering. I had to remind myself to breathe between bites! If you haven't experienced the Webster House then you are truly missing out on a KC gem.

We have eaten there before, but quite a while ago. The food was excellent, as was the service. It was a bit noisy as we were near the kitchen & it was a very busy night. We felt underdressed. People were dining there before the Kaufman event so they were exceptionally dressed, and there was a wedding party dining. This was a Friday night so we should have expected a little more upscale attire. The rooms of merchandise were exceptional. If you want to find items that are not readily found at other specialty shops, this is the place. Lovely shopping venue, great food!

We ate there before the season-opening Symphony concert and enjoyed the dinner. Having made the reservation several weeks in advance, we were shown to a table crammed into a corner next to the bar. We asked for a better table in a main dining room and were accommodated, though not without a bit of grumbling. Once at the second table we had a very pleasant dinner experience.

given the favorable reviews, I had high expectations for Webster House but when my mussel special arrived, I was somewhat underwhelmed with when they were way overcooked (I'm guessing they were cooked long before my order and had shrunk to raisin size). My main course (salmon) was excellently prepared, however. Dessert was good albeit boring. Prices were high. This is a good "dinner w/ grandmother type place." Wide spaced tables, effective service, hit and miss on the food.

We visited this restaurant for our four year anniversary. Upon our arrival the building is beautifully renovated and the hostess greated us politely and pointed us in the right direction. The dining room was elegant and the view was nice. Candlelight and only a few other patrons was setting up for a romantic evening. It ended with that, dinner was bad! Over priced and small portions. Not what we was expecting for $80 for just two people. The chicken was so small we joked that we got a chick instead of chicken. It was covered in lemon also the broccoli. Potatoes was just plain, no spice or flavor and my pasta was no better then mac-n-cheese. I had maybe four or five small shrimp in it. We left hungry and disappointed.
