Webster HouseGraduation celebrationGreat brunch for family following graduation downtown.5/19/2013 12:00:00 AMOne of the best restaurantsOne of the best restaurants in Kansas City.
Period !5/18/2013 12:00:00 AMGreat for Business LunchFood was very good, service attentive but not overbearing. Noise level at restaurant was perfect for lunch meeting of 4 people. Could talk about things and hear each other, yet not so quiet as to make our party feel like we needed to talk in hushed tones. I had the pulled pork sandwich- it was very very good. A couple of people got the tomato soup and said it was delicious. The Sicilian tuna looked great also.5/14/2013 12:00:00 AMA little crowdedIt was Mother's Day and quite crowded-our table for 4 was uncomfortable as the legs were in everyone's way. We had the salmon benedict and the poached eggs were cold. Other than that the food was very good. I have been there for other meals and this was a little sub-par.5/12/2013 12:00:00 AMThe food was great and staffThe food was great and staff was incredibly friendly and attentive. The only downside for us was the mostly curmudgeon-like clientele shuffling about the place.5/12/2013 12:00:00 AMGreat food, service and historyWebster House, located just next to the incredible Kauffman Center for Performing Arts, is a fantastic restaurant and European antique store inside of one of Kansas City's first school house. Restored to immaculate condition, Webster House provides a romantic atmosphere and truly enjoyable menu. This is definitely a must go location in downtown KC.5/12/2013 12:00:00 AMOverall good experience.Service was very good. Entrees were excellent as well. Cheesecake however arrived at our table frozen. It was send back and we were given credit for it.5/10/2013 12:00:00 AMcool beans!!The setting is so interesting.....in an old school house, really! The view is great if one is standing up, difficult to see much from a seated position. I like all the different charming classrooms and appreciate the restoration work that was done to bring the building back to this level. The acoustics are very poor and the noise level gets annoying when the place is crowded. One big perk is the freedom to leave our car in the parking lot while attending a performance at Kaufman, and the shopping on the lower level is a nice bonus. The salmon for dinner was outstanding and the French toast that I had during a brunch at was excellent. Waitress Carey is a peach of a kid, and we are filling out adoption papers on her.5/9/2013 12:00:00 AMgirls day outThere were 5 of us in our group. We all had the trio lunch specials with soup, salad and sandwich. I thought the panini was awesome and the potato soup was very good. Our server was very courteous and didn't hover, which was great. She was very helpful with the menu questions. Atmosphere was very pleasant and we enjoyed the beautiful rose room. Only one of us had been there before; we would all come again!5/7/2013 12:00:00 AMLoved it!This is my very favorite place for brunch and /or before the Kauffman!5/5/2013 12:00:00 AMMy daughter and I enjoyedMy daughter and I enjoyed our visit to Webster House. The server was friendly and attentive. The food disappointed a bit because the choices seemed so heavy although the crème brulee was terrific. We'll return in a couple of weeks and will hope to find something lighter on the menu.5/5/2013 12:00:00 AMThe food was outstanding andThe food was outstanding and a very quiet place to take my folks who were visiting.5/4/2013 12:00:00 AMWonderful, WonderfulWe took an out of town guest for dinner, and we were sure it would be the wonderful experience that it was. Our server, Sarah, was first rate--attentive without being intrusive. Everything that was ordered from drinks to entrees to dessert was prepared perfectly. Webster House is a gem.5/4/2013 12:00:00 AMWhy-Webster House.I had intended for some time to visit Webster House and finally got it done. It was truly outstanding in every way. I was accompanied by my wife and daughter who also enjoyed it very much. We certainly intend to visit there again, Soon. John Haynes
The service was exceptional and the staff was always right there for you. John Haynes5/3/2013 12:00:00 AMHappy AnniversaryWe had a great time celebrating our anniversary and made it to the Kauffman in time too.5/3/2013 12:00:00 AMAll one could ask forA small group of friends after a concert at the Kauffman Center, a romantic dinner on a special night, lunch with Mom before or after shopping, or a grand gala event. The Webster House can do it all, and comes as close to perfection as I've found in Kansas City.5/1/2013 12:00:00 AMEverything is great, except ...Everything is great, except ... Where is the hot, fresh baked break we used to love so much?4/30/2013 12:00:00 AMFood/service/atmosphere wasFood/service/atmosphere was fabulous! Candy was aFantabulous! Candy was a darling server--prsonality and terrific competence. Loved our lunch!!4/22/2013 12:00:00 AMThis was my third visit toThis was my third visit to Webster House in the past month. We are season ticket holders at several venues and will continue to dine at Webster House. The food is always excellent and the presentation is lovely. We have had different servers each visit and they were all very efficient and courteous.4/21/2013 12:00:00 AMTaste bud explosion! That was first time.... I was so impressed. Food was absolutely fabulous. I had eggs steak benedict and my friend had chicken waffles and we also had a side of biscuits and gravy. ..I don't like biscuits and but I had to taste it was so good...and the coffee was so good too...I've been to several fine dining Restaurants. Webster house is definitely 5 star....lets start a six star...Webster house would be at the top...I can't wait to take my out of town guests there..price are good too.....4/21/2013 12:00:00 AMGreat experience and setting,Great experience and setting, service started slow but once she got to our table she was very attentive. Scallop and filet dish were outstanding.4/20/2013 12:00:00 AMWe made it!It was difficult to time right. We have tried to dine there a couple times but always caught it on a day they were closed. Well worth the wait! Great food, kind staff and beautiful atmosphere. The tables were set up so weren't looking at other tables and really didn't feel like there were many other tables there. menu was eclectic but not trying to hard. We wanted to try so many things! We will be back but maybe will try the bar scene next time. See you again Webster House!4/18/2013 12:00:00 AMWonderful ExperienceMy granddaughter and I chose Webster House as our pre-dining spot before attending the Sunday matinee of Mary Poppins. Their Sunday Brunch offered choices suitable for a nine year old (she had the French Toast -- minus the pears) and I enjoyed their Quiche of the Day. Afterwards we had time to shop in the lovely old school rooms before heading off to the performance. Our waiter was attentive and treated my granddaughter like a princess, which, of course, she loved. Thank you Webster House for restoring an old schoolhouse into this lovely dining and shopping venue.4/14/2013 12:00:00 AMThe tables for 2 along theThe tables for 2 along the outside walls are too close to one another----you don't have any privacy. I almost refuse to be seated in those tables.4/11/2013 12:00:00 AMPlush decor greeted us whenPlush decor greeted us when we entered, setting a tone of luxury. We were seated next to one of the large windows. Although it had been raining, it was still bright enough inside to enjoy the colors of the oriental rugs. My mood was for something healthy, and the kale and quinoa salad hit the spot, though an unexpected but delicious sprinkle of bacon lowered the healthy quotient a bit. My cup of eggplant soup was luscious. My two friends ordered sandwiches, one the panini, one the herbal turkey, both very tasty.Since we saved some room for dessert, we ordered two to share, the panna cotta and the creme brulée. Not only were both delicious, but both were quite large servings, which suited us just fine. We all agreed we'd be back again soon.4/10/2013 12:00:00 AMBrunch was very good tastingBrunch was very good tasting and moderately priced4/7/2013 12:00:00 AMNot the first time here, andNot the first time here, and this time they had mixed up things a bit on the menu. The Fried Green Tomatoes now have a Texas Pete spicy aoli and a green tomatoe chutney. For some, the shutney will be a bit tart. Sarah D provided excellent service and the recommendation for the special (halibut and pork hash) was spot on.4/7/2013 12:00:00 AMThe menu had just changedThe menu had just changed and we had a very difficult time deciding what to have. The only option is to keep going back and trying something new!4/6/2013 12:00:00 AMFood, service, atmosphere,Food, service, atmosphere, they all get an A in this old school house.4/5/2013 12:00:00 AMRelaxed EleganceA relaxed memorable meal before the KC Symphony. Beautiful location and dining experience.4/4/2013 12:00:00 AMWe both enjoyed the combinationWe both enjoyed the combination of foods presented in the dishes (mine the scallops with the tasty polenta and the cherry tomato reduction). Will probably come again when friends of hours visit KC. Disappointed that the lobster roll wasn't available as I grew up in the northeast and hadn't had one in some time.4/3/2013 12:00:00 AMWe went to Webster House forWe went to Webster House for Easter brunch. The restaurant is elegant, yet not stuffy. The food and service were very good. We especially like the dessert buffet!3/31/2013 12:00:00 AMGreat meal in a historic enviornmenWe enjoyed our Sunday brunch at Webster House. My husband was a little disappointed with the salmon eggs Benedict, but otherwise, we were quite happy with our meal. Our waitress was very attentive, especially to our son.
This was our last meal in Kansas City before returning home, and we are glad that we chose this venue. The food was fresh and inviting. My boys loved the dessert bar. I had a small strawberry mousse, which was the perfect size for someone not wanting to eat a large dessert. When next we are in KC, we will certainly include the Webster House on our must-eat places.3/31/2013 12:00:00 AMMy guests agreed that I choseMy guests agreed that I chose the perfect restaurant for Easter Brunch. The food was
good - the dessert buffet was wonderful!3/31/2013 12:00:00 AMNot as good as usual but still goodOur dessert came out unintentionally frozen, but they comped it and gave us another, no questions. We had ordered an entree, crispy pork shank with bleu cheese grits, but it was too much with our appetizers (crab cakes and shrimp and grits, both great), so we took it to go. Unfortunately, the meat was overcooked and just not up to par, and there was way too much bleu cheese, even for someone like me who really loves it. We actually threw it away :(
We will be back, but won't get that again.3/30/2013 12:00:00 AMWill definetly return greatWill definetly return great price, location and service3/29/2013 12:00:00 AMPotato soup was some of thePotato soup was some of the best we've ever had. Wine recommendation by the server was excellent. Scallops were cooked to perfection. Very cool environment. Overall meal and experience were excellent, but pricey. Not a place we could afford to go to frequently.3/28/2013 12:00:00 AMAnother Excellent ExperienceWe absolutely LOVE Webster House. So much so, this was our 2nd visit within a week. Webster House is our go-to restaurant when we have friends in town and want to give them a wow experience. It has not disappointed us yet! Go early to shop downstairs before dinner and then order up some fried green tomatoes, shrimp & grits, or the grilled caesar salad. Entree suggestions are the tenderloin, salmon, or scallops. It really doesn't matter what you order, because it's going to be great! We love Webster House and will return - maybe not next week, but we'll be back next season! Excited to see what the new sping menu will have on it. Added bonus for Kauffman guests - free parking & late night menu after the show! This place is great!3/27/2013 12:00:00 AMWe love the ambiance of theWe love the ambiance of the Webster House. It's romantic, an excellent location for special occasion (or pre-Kauffman Center) dining and an ideal place for girl's lunch/drinks/dinner, etc. The menu is interesting and healthy and the food is always excellent. Be wary of going for lunch if you're on a tight schedule though, because although the service is usually prompt, if there's a also large lunch party you could be there for a quite a while (we were there for almost an hour and a half over lunch w/o ordering desert and coffee and were late for work...)3/26/2013 12:00:00 AMAlways enjoy the quiet atmosphereAlways enjoy the quiet atmosphere and lovely setting of this old school house. One of the best parts is the proximity to the Kauffman Center. I frequently enjoy pre-concert dining before an event at this fantastic new concert facility. It is always quiet, and the food is dependably fresh and tasty.3/24/2013 12:00:00 AMEverything was perfect again!Everything was perfect again! Best Brunch in Kansas City!3/24/2013 12:00:00 AMReally great food and experienceThis was my first time here, and I really found it to be an interesting dining experience. They have antiques for sale, and some different rooms that I wasn't able to fully explore because of time constraints. The server was really great (like a 4 1/2 stars) and very knowledgeable on the wines and history of the this place. It was nice with a relaxing environment. Not overly upscale, but definitely had a very classy vibe. I didn't feel like the prices were outrageous and the food presentation was great. Everything tasted awesome, and the tenderloin was so good! I'll definitely go there again and maybe explore a little more next time. So happy that I went there!3/23/2013 12:00:00 AMSpecial Webster HouseLove Webster House. Eat good food and Shop! What could be better.3/22/2013 12:00:00 AMThe Ginger Elderflower cocktailThe Ginger Elderflower cocktail was wonderful and my dinner companion loved her Pimm's Cup too.
We just had salads and appetizers and they were really good for the most part. Beet Salad was fantastic, as were the crab cakes. I found the mussels somewhat lacking in flavor (especially the broth).
Will go back again and try some of the entrees...we just weren't that hungry this time.3/22/2013 12:00:00 AMOur first dining experienceOur first dining experience at Webster House was superb! We loved the opportunity to browse the shops on first floor prior to dinner. Our greeting at the restaurant was elegant and felt very special. A delightful competent waitress guided us through the menu and was very helpful in dessert selection. Without a doubt this is one of the finest dining experiences we've had in Kansas City. We will be back.3/21/2013 12:00:00 AMWe had a wonderful meal withWe had a wonderful meal with friends before going to a performance at the Kauffman.3/21/2013 12:00:00 AMi had a friend in from bostoni had a friend in from boston who'd never been to webster house.
we had a late lunch and consequently were some of the few late diners at 2pm.
we were seated in my favorite spot in the bar against the wall on the bench;intimate and charming.
my friend had a side salad, i had a cup of tomato bisque, and we both had the new item on the menu, the ahi tuna.
absolutely delicious!!
pleasant experience.3/21/2013 12:00:00 AMOur group had a very enjoyableOur group had a very enjoyable time..a little pricey, so won't come to often, but great occasionally. Good place to take out-of-town guests.3/20/2013 12:00:00 AM
