It had been a year since we'd been here and we were all set to do some dancing, but it appears that they need more tables for food service, which is always good news for a dining establishment. Instead there was live piano music which was a great accompaniment for dinner."

Waited in our car for five minutes all while watching a the large wide open key box . Its a good thing we are honest people or we could have had our pick of cars to steel. Service was good.   • "We are locals, born and raised, and had never dined here. I am glad we decided to come for restaurant week as I would have been disappointed paying full price. The appetizers were the best part (escargot, ahi, oysters). The entrees all needed seasoning (I cannot stand this modern trend of restaurants not having salt and pepper shakers readily available on the table), and were nothing extraordinary (lamb, pork, fish dishes). We are foodies, so trust us-you are better off spending your money at Le Vallaruis or Ruth's Chris. Also, while the restroom does have handicap railings, it is not handicap friendly. Our mom's wheelchair would not fit in the stall without the stall door being open. That is just unacceptable. We won't be back."

With many places to choose from, we were lucky to have chosen Wally's as it's everything you could hope for in an evening out. The place is beautiful, the service was outstanding and the live piano music was a wonderful bonus. As for the food, just wonderful. So elegantly presented and of course, delicious. One thing I will remember is the pear tart - it was heaven - and that from a chocoholic!!!"

  • "We revisit Wally's for Restaurant Week (RW) - the menu looked great at $38 - a full dinner can run $80/per + wine (corkage is only $20). As usual, the food & service were very good, and our booth was very romantic. But there were problems with the RW menu - the Rack of lamb was one rib chop + a piece of lamb loin & braised lamb shoulder over a little rice & mixed vegetables - no eggplant. This was not as advertised & if it was the same as on the regular menu ($50) it would be over priced. The Tuna Tartare was excellent, but a minuscule portion - regular menu price $17. The rest of the items, a Caesar salad, Carrot Cake, and Lava Cake were good, if not creative, with good portions. Bottom line, Wally's is very expensive for what you get. "

  • "This was our first time to Wally's Desert Turtle. The ambience is like a true "old school" classic supper club. Very nice decor, no rush in service which was fantastic. We went for restaurant week and chose from the fixed menu. I would have preferred other items on the menu, but chose not to. This is not an inexpensive restaurant, but the menu items looked very enticing. We would consider this a "special events" restaurant upon return."

  • "Shockingly bad experience at one of our favorite restaurants. My wife ordered the lobster, not inexpensive, which was served cold and was tasteless. It should have been returned. My rack of lamb was not a rack but a single chop served with a sauce that I can not identify. The best part of my meal was my glass of excellent wine. We have had some wonderful experiences at this restaurant. Let's hope that this was just a bad night, though inexcusable at this price level. Phil Palm Desert"

  • "I use Open Table all the time, and I seldom write reviews, but Wally's Desert Turtle in Rancho Mirage is worth an exception. FIrst, it is not what I normally like, meaning the preparations don't have the light touch of most modern chefs. But the menu overflows with extremely well-prepared classic fare , with a premium on fresh ingredients. The serving teams work together with the ease and swiftness of a solid French wait staff. Ignore the decor, which resembles a smaller, more intimate version of a Holland America cruise ship. Honestly, get over it: the food and the friendly staff are worth the carpet and mirrored ceiling. Can't wait to go back."

  • "We enjoyed a most special Mother's Day at Wally's! We were seated in the beautiful and quiet foyer room, our favorite location in Wally's. Three-course lunch - fabulous choices and the food was delicious. Brunch included champagne or mimosa. My husband chose asparagus soup, quiche with salad, and chocolate trio layer for dessert. I chose bib lettuce salad with shrimp and tarragon dressing - fabulous! Followed with halibut served on bed fresh tomato basil sauce followed by bread pudding for desert. My husband and I enjoyed a much needed "date" together - wonderful place for intimate conversation while enjoying the best food in Coachella Valley. Wally's is our all-time favorite restaurant for food, service and ambiance."

  • "We were excited about trying Wally's. We booked a brunch for Mother's Day. When we arrived, we were seated right next to the piano. It was loud and distracting. We requested a new table and after some confusion, we were seated in another part of the restaurant. The table was only ½ set and when I mentioned that to the waiter, he brought us two napkins, but not silverware. Our meals were delivered after a very long wait. Unfortunately, they were the wrong meals. The same mishap for our dessert. The food was nothing special, but very small portions for the $38 brunch. We will not be returning. "
