Diner Reviews
  • "Another excellent meal and great place for a business dinner"
    Dined on 4/20/2014
  • "We were traveling through the area and found this restaurant through list the hotel provided. Great choice to enjoy glass of wine and delicious meal."
    Dined on 4/14/2014
  • "Enjoyed a fantastic server, catering to keep our glasses filled as 6 of us immersed in serious business conversation coupled with humor and laughs. Healthy Kale salad, coupled with baked whole Branzino fish for me. The others had pasta dishes and 3 had giant bisteca. Great experience."

  • "We ate outside on Sunday evening. Our waiter was slow inattentive and impersonable."

  • "I actually think that the location, scene, and the service outclass the menu at Vivace. Good decor; vibrant setting, nice outdoor patio, lively bar scene inside, but average menu in my opinion."

  • "Vivace is everything you'd want from a nice Italian restaurant. The food is delicious, there are a hundred wines to choose from, and everyone in the restaurant is talking and laughing and having a good time. My husband and I really enjoyed our dinner here. He got the pork Milanese and I barely got to try any! I got the Veal Saltimbocca - which is the perfect dish to split if you are looking for a smaller portion. It has two veal cuts and four raviolis and is superb. The waiter was perfectly attentive while not being conspicuous or interrupting the conversation. Overall, a really excellent place."

  • "Wonderful food. I had the scallops and bruchetta and they were delicious. My martini was very good too! Great for groups and a very lively atmosphere."

  • "We found Vivace through a friend's recommendation. It was exactly what we were looking for. We wanted an intimate restaurant with delicious food and an outstanding ambience to celebrate our one year anniversary together. Definitely a recommended spot!"
    Dined on 4/5/2014
  • "The food and service were both very good, although a bit pricey ($18 for the half-portion of spaghetti and a side of grilled brussel sprouts, $17 for 2 glasses of the house red wine.) The restaurant is beautifully decorated and the ambience would be lovely if patrons weren't packed in like sardines. The noise level is louder than a sports bar on game night, although we ate relatively early (7:30) on a Friday. By 8:30 you couldn't hear yourself think, much less carry on a conversation. We had to yell across a small table for two to be heard. We didn't order dessert just to get out early."

  • "The wild boar dish was abit salty for me and so I didn't finish it. My 14th years old son was hoping to order Bacon aglio olio..as kids love bacons! Thanks."

  • "My daughter was in town from Vermont and was treated to out door dining on April 3rd, warm, sunny, vs cold and snowy at home. Her significant other, he is a culinary graduate, and she stated that the food at Vivace measured up to her expectations, at home he cooks and she cleans up, which is O.K. by her."

  • "Loved the ambiance and location. Waitress was outstanding. ..service was on point! Our lunch was delicious. We"ll be back next time in Raleigh."

  • "Always has been top notch and continues as is all restaurants owned and operated by Urban Food Group."

  • "True Italian spot with great wait staff. A bit of a yuppie crowd but to be expected in this area. I would recommend an early or late dinner if you dont want to deal with a noise level issue. Food was fantastic and wait staff was very knowledgeable. I do wish the lighting was a little brighter and they had fewer tables crammed in there. Oh and if you like tiramisu this place had the second best I have ever had."

  • "Attentive wait staff, broad selection of Italian wines, and great food!"

  • "Great food and service. They do know the menu and we're prompt to answer questions. Overall good place that we will most likely visit again"

  • "Our food was presented well, served professionally, and prepared perfectly."

  • "From paying attention to the requests on the Open Table reservations to the end of our visit, every detail was covered, every bite was outstanding and the service was great."

  • "Perhaps we hit Vivace on an "off" night but the food was good, not exceptional. My wife's pasta dish was very small and the pizza my son and I had was good but nowhere close to what we have had at other Italian restaurants in the Triangle area. For dessert, I ordered gelato and it was terrible. We've been to Italy and had real gelato, we have enjoyed gelato at some fine Italian restaurants and we don't know what we were served at Vivace, but it was not gelato. Our waiter was very attentive and we tipped him well for his service but not because of the food. There are too many other outstanding choices in Raleigh for us to waste a special evening on Vivace again."

  • "Lunch at Vivache again. We were greeted by name when we came in (w/ Open Table this is fairly easy, they knew we were coming) our favorite table was already set up for us, and the service and food was as we have come to expect. The bar scene can be fairly active at night since it's in a building with apartments above, but it's still a great place for dinner, also. We recommend it."

  • "We've been here four or five times and this visit did not live up to our previous experiences. The food this time was fine, but nothing special. Perhaps it was because only the Sunday brunch menu was available."
    Dined on 3/16/2014
  • "Had the seared scallops and loved them - great "char" on the scallops and not overcooked. Husband had the braised pork shoulder - very tender and "fell apart" - no need for a knife. Very lively and energetic atmosphere. Great selection of wines. Attentive but not over-bearing service. Waiter knew his wines and made great food recommendations. Would definitely go back."

  • "The food was nothing to write home about, but the restaurant and its ambiance are beautiful. Seems like a place to go to be seen."

  • "Vivace is our go to place when we have out of town guests come in. The food is consistently great and the service is impeccable!"
    Dined on 3/6/2014
  • "Vivace has remained consistently good in just about every aspect including quality, management, service, price, ambiance and both menu and wine selection. I have dined there several times for both lunch and dinner in both indoor and outdoor settings and have been pleased with my experiences. Management and service personnel have always been welcoming and attentive. Having gained an appreciation of wines after living in Europe for many years wine lists usually get special scrutiny from me. Vivace's list is varied in selection and priced fairly . For example, it is difficult in Raleigh to find a good Morellino di Scansano at a decent price but Vivace does have one. I look forward to dining at Vivace again soon."

  • "This restaurant has become one of our favorites for celebrating birthdays and other small group gatherings. The food is consistently good and the service excellent."
    Dined on 2/25/2014
  • "Vivace is all Italian- food and wine selections. The chef is a genius with unique flavor combinations. I am a wine geek and always fine something unique to try here. My only complaint is that it is a bit noisy."
    Dined on 2/22/2014
  • "Enjoyed the porcini ravioli with coniglio ragu--a tomato sauce with shreds of rabbit--tender and well balanced. Also great were the Brussels sprouts and the scallop Milanese. Will return soon!"
    Dined on 2/24/2014
  • "Vivace consistantly delivers great service and cuisine which is why I return time and time again. Great for a business lunch or romantic diner!"
    Dined on 2/20/2014
  • "We made reservations 30 minutes ahead by the nifty OT website. Had good table and plenty of service. My husband always goes for the Saltimboca which is the finest anywhere. I love what Vivace does with scallops and the veggies they came with. Not too rich and so delicious I ate the whole serving instead of boxing some for the next day. The waiter recommended a Pinot Noir I never would have tried and it was divine. How can you not go back to a place like this only a mile from home?"

  • "This place is hopping on a Friday night. Seems to be the place to go for after-work fun in the Mid-Town neighborhood. Food is great, but don't try to have a hushed conversation. Wine list is extensive but exclusively Italian. Waitstaff is helpful in deciphering it if you are not familiar with Italian wines."

  • "Great food and service at this gem of a restaurant."

  • "Always a good place for dinner. Sometimes crowded but not on off days."

  • "Loved it! The atmosphere was cool and food was great."

  • "Food was very good. Service was attentive to our requests. Retaurant fills fast. Even with a reservation, we still sat at a table near the bar. Comfortable, but not expected with a reservation. Significant wine list, but only helpful if you read Italian, your waiter knows the entire list, or you really know your wine."

  • "I reserved online, unaware that you were only offering a special Valentine's menu. Not excessively interested in the items on the menu selection, we asked if we would be able to order from the traditional dinner menu. After the waiter politely but firmly explained that he couldn't grant our request, my wife and I excused ourselves from the restaurant."

  • "It had been a while since we have eaten at Vivaces as we live a good distance away. Coming back brought back all of the reasons we have always loved Vivaces. Creative, expertly prepared, delicious starters and entrees from start to finish. The meatballs are better than my mom's. (She doesn't read these). Vivaces has been above the pack for years. Is there any better reason to dine with them often. We will be back very soon!"
    Dined on 2/9/2014
  • "The menu was varied and the food excellent. Our waiter suggested an excellent wine and was familiar with the choices on the menu. Service was very professional and prompt but we did not feel rushed. I would recommend it for a night out for folks who enjoy good food and good wine."
    Dined on 2/8/2014
  • "We had a delicious dinner - 2 different pasta dishes that were both excellent. The wine was pricey but also very good. And, the caramalized brussel sprout appetizer was worth the whole trip. But, for such an outstanding restaurant, why can't they have better bread??? Very mediocre."

  • "over priced, cheap food quality. Steak was the size of a steak-um, literally."
