It was cooked perfectly and the servers were ever so attentive. We will definitely be going back to enjoy the bar area which has a piano player.   • "The Vail Ranch Steakhouse is not the restaurant to pop in on for a hot, quick meal. It's definitely more of an old school place for adults. It's a bit dim, the music is provided by a live jazz pianist & the steaks are tasty. The prices are high, but you're really getting what you pay for. We recently visited for my wife's birthday. When making my reservation, I asked if it might be possible for someone on the staff to recognize the special occasion. From the moment I spoke our name to the hostess, every staff member we encountered wished my wife a happy birthday, including the managers who made special trips to our table. A good time was had by all. I highly recommend this place for your special occasion."

  • "My boyfriend and I visited the Vail Ranch Steakhouse for his birthday. The dinner was very expensive: roughly $150 for two, including tip . He had the dry aged ribeye, bone-in, rare. This in no Ruth's Chris. Meat had no char, looked anemic, not juicy. The fat was not in any way carmelized. I had the house cut of prime rib, medium. At 7:00 p.m., they had no more end cuts and were out of mashed potatoes. The meat appeared to have been sliced rare and cooked to medium. This is no Lawry's. Again, there was no crust or carmelization. The sides were average. Green beans- perfect. Au gratin potatoes- gross. Fries-good. Caesar salad was good. French onion soup - fine. I would not go back or recommend the place to anyone else."

  • "Great food, would have preferred the rack of lamb without the sauce to let the meat flavor stand out on its own. Eric our waiter was superb. The balance of the wait staff, unfortunately, always wanted to take plates away before our party of 3 was completely finished eating...a very big problem. While we were still chewing our food, someone was pulling a plate out from under us. This is a huge dining disappointment. On a separate note, I would have preferred a table cloth for a Saturday night dinner out. The water glass condensed on the table top and there was no relief from the dripping every time I drank some water. That's OK for a lunch environment, not for a nice dinner out on a Saturday night."

Great service, great food, and reasonably priced. we will be dining here again and as members of several wineries in the Temecula valley we visit often and will also telling all our friends. Wish I could remember her name…. The only downside was a large group right next to us that were noisy. Would have preferred a quieter place to celebrate his 69th birthday."

  • "We went for V-day, good thing I made reservations long before we got there. Would recommend reservations on the weekends. Had the black and blue top sirloin which was excellent as usual. Hope for the green beans as the vegetable, they are great. Only drawback is when the place is full, it can be loud."

  • "Valentines Day ok it's busy...So hire some extras help for special occasions. Waited for 20 minutes in bar before even being acknowledged. So no drinks at bar. Seated at 7:30, took 15 minutes for bread and water. Order took 40 minutes to prepare. OK I get it...special occasion. Do some forecasting!!! Extra chef, extra waiters, extra bussers. NOT A GOOD TIME TO TRAIN BUSSERS!!! We spoke to the owners daughter, very nice lady...Dad...where were you??? Food is ok, steaks were dry and lobster $50!!! dry. How about some dividers for a more romantic setting...felt like I was Denny's...I'm sorry, neveragain NOISY!!! Oh well, back to Claim Jumper (always reliable)"

  • "Staff was very nice, nice ambiance, but the food felt a little lackluster to me. It wasn't bad it just wasn't great, and for the price it should be amazing. My husband got the prime rib and lobster. He said the lobster was a bit rubbery but it still tasted good so he ate it. The prime rib was good, but nothing super special. I had the petite filet, it was prepared correctly, medium-rare and it cut like butter. The problem was that it just didn't have much juice or flavor. It was good, but not great. This place might be better on a normal night but for the price I don't think I would venture back to give it another go."

  • "First time going to Vail and it was just "ok". Maybe a lot better when its not Valentine's Day as the staff seemed overwhelmed even though visually it didn't seem too busy. The food was good, but not anything special when I factor in the service, ambiance and overall feeling "I" personally feel when paying somewhat premium pricing. However, I'll give it a second chance on an off night and see what happens."

  • "For the amount of money being spent you would expect a bit better. The food was OK, not omg but just OK. Our table was suited great for a family with kids which I had 3. The biggest bummer of the night was the fact that you couldn't see very well and the entire place was like this. The lighting was not good at all. My FIL was using his phone for light to read the menu. I couldn't see what I had ordered very well. Hopefully it gets better."

Wouldn't recommend the Au-gratin potatoes but the baked potato was good.. Soft drink a little flat. Prime rib and the Lobster were done to our satisfaction. The cost of the meal was too expensive. Ambience not great for quiet, romantic evening out."

  • "I invited a couple of good friends to try out this restaurant. The sitting was smooth because I had reservation. However, the experience that evening was the worst I’d had. Our server did not bother to acknowledge the lack of service and the long wait for and in between courses. She even forgot to bring back to us our to-go box. During dinner, I had to keep up the conversations to fill the time and repeatedly apologize to my friends for the poor service. I was embarrassed and will not patronize this restaurant again."

  • "Great dry aged steaks and well prepared side dishes (potatoes, green beans). The lobster bisque had a little bit too much cream do the bisque just tasted like cream, slight hint of lobster. We wouldn't order it next time. The shrimp cocktail had 6 jumbo shrimps and were decent with spicy cocktail sauce. Our steaks were good. I loved my ribeye (although it's a little under seasoned).My spouse ordered filet and lobster. The filet was done to the right wellness (medium rare) but the meat was a little dry in some parts. The lobster was really small but cooked to perfection, just wish it was bigger. The service was friendly but slow. It took a while for us to order, received our appetizers 30 mins later. The server was too busy to check on us."

  • "This place tries to portray itself as a classy, upscale steakhouse but it really isn't. It was just okay, nothing special. I had the bone in ribeye which was cooked perfectly but very, very fatty. A ribeye should have some marbling through out. There were only 2 non-fish appetizers which was disappointing. The french onion soup was fabulous, however. I've heard and read about the hype of this place. I'm glad that I tried it but I probably wouldn't go back."

  • "My wife and I discovered Vail Ranch about three years ago. We wanted a good steakhouse to visit from time to time when we are in the mood for some good beef and we are too lazy to bar-b-que our own. We live in Fallbrook and there are no good steak houses in our town so we decided to look in Temecula. We found Vail Ranch and we were very pleased from the outset. The ambiance, the quality of beef (especially the aged beef), the service, the pricing...all very good. Since we discovered Vail Ranch we have become loyal customers and it is the only steakhouse we will eat at - and we have tried many from San Diego to L.A, to Las Vegas. Vail Ranch is a winner in our book and we are very happy we are close enough to visit often."

  • "Went for Thanksgiving. Plenty of staff on hand since there were only a few diners at the time we arrived. Nice selection to cover every taste- from traditional Turkey dinner to Rack of Lamb. The portions were quite large. I had a 12oz prime rib. It was perfectly cooked and seasoned but it was just too much. I'd have much preferred a smaller portion and a smaller price to go with it. Vail Ranch is always a good choice for lunch or dinner and check out their great happy hour."

  • "The turkey dinner was not how this Yankee girl likes it. The turkey didn't taste like a fresh bird. Gravy was too thick and kind of gelatinous. Green beans were basically raw. They crunched when I chewed and I had to cut them with a steak knife. Everything was so heavily seasoned with garlic I couldn't taste anything thing but garlic. I like garlic and always cook with it but it just doesn't belong with turkey. All in our party that ordered turkey ended up not eating it. The bread was toasted and turned hard like a crouton. The salad was very good. The Salmon was very good. The pumpkin pie was good if you didn't eat the crust. Except for the wine,company and atmosphere, the meal was very disappointing."

  • "2013 was our second Thanksgiving Day dinner at Vail's, the first being last year. We enjoyed the wonderful selection and presentation of the traditional Thanksgiving food items. Each food item was was thoughtfully prepared and seasoned; truthfully, the dinner was second only to one we would have done at home. However, in both years our Temecula family members travelled north to a reunion in Walnut Creek. In coming years please keep the restaurant cooking Thanksgiving Dinner for those of us who really enjoy the experience, delightful in every respect!"

  • "From the outside this restaurant isn't much to look at. It's not run down at all but it has a completely different vibe from outside than from in. Outside, florescent lights, sort of "outback steakhouse" without the polished branding. Inside, polished wood, nicely displayed dry aged meats, well lit but not over-bright, cozy, not too loud, comfortable and ample seating with good separation. Outside to in it's a very different place. The service was spot on, timely but not overbearing, good recommendations for both wine and food and attentive at just the right balance. The food was well prepared, hot, done to order and delivered altogether. This was a real find (we booked last minute due to change in plans and still got a great table)"

Only one thing to mention would be the large potatoes are great however they would need at least 2 hours to be fully cooked. Nice place and my mother loved her steak."

  • "My husband and I were in Temecula for a few days for our anniversary. I booked the reservation based on reviews on Open Table. The food was decent, but not the best I've had. Everything was good and the service was attentive. Portions are large so make sure you go there hungry. I recommend the lobster bisque. I'm particular about my steaks and the filet mignon was pretty good."
