  • "Trulucks is the place in Houston for fresh crab. Date and I went for early dinner on Easter. Excellent service. Piano live music. Awesome large crab claws with Alaskan king crab. Goat cheese salad and lobster bisque for appetizers. Excellent wine selection. Glad we saved room for huge portions of carrot cake and to die for chocolate cake - doggie bag required. Only drawback - expensive, but not as outrageous as the Palm. "

  • "We have always been able to count on great food & service at Trulucks until we dined there last week for lunch. The server was not friendly at all, was not attentive to our needs, didn't get our order right (put anchovies on my salad even though I told him I DIDN'T want them on the salad) and your run-of-the-mill waiters usually found at restaurants of much less quality. I brought my 3 daughters here for lunch (2 from out of state) and they were looking forward to the chocolate bag for dessert but it came with a huge hole in the very front of it. This was not very good quality control and considering my bill for 3 women and a teenager was $200. However the Seafood Louis salad was to die for and the red door drink were fabulous! "

  • "Excellent food - signature stone crab was wonderful! Wedge salad was great - nice fresh lettuce with truly excellent blue cheese dressing! Also really enjoyed sides of mushrooms and asparagus. We had dinner early, so the lingering "vibrant" bar scene was still a bit loud for us, but away from the bar it was quiet enough to have a pleasant conversation."

  • "I took my fiancée to Truluck's for a birthday celebration. It was easy to make reservations online and to make certain requests. I asked for a quiet, secluded romantic table and alerted them that it was a night out to celebrate my fiancée's birthday. We got all of that and more. The table was perfect and the waiter brought out a dessert for his birthday (compliments of Truluck's) with a birthday salutation on the dish outlined in chocolate. It was a great night and we plan on celebrating many more occasions there. Top notch atmosphere and service all the way....loved, loved, loved it and so did my man!!"

  • "Our experience at Truluck's was an awesome experience. The atmosphere was relaxing and we were actually able to carry on a conversation in peace. The food was divine and the wine list was worthy. I would recommend the Shrimp Cocktail (which comes with a surprise presentation. Not to mention the shrimp are a hefty size), and a cup of Lobster Bisque that tastes divine. I had the Scottish Salmon with Steamed Asparagus & Bearnaise Sauce...the salmon melted in my mouth and the asparagus was steamed to perfection. My husband had the Hot Crusted Idaho Trout with Rice Pilaf. He could not stop raving about how scrumptious it was along with the sauce that was provided with it. Our waitress was so friendly and very attentive. Great experience."

  • "The stone crabs are fantastic and the daily specials are always spot on. The few occassions where I've treated a group, almost all of us go with the daily specials...they're just too good to pass up. One dessert is big enough to feed 4 people."

  • "Have eaten at Truluck's a dozen times or so in the past 15 years starting at it's previous location on Westheimer. Had been about 4 years since I was last there and was shocked at the decline in every metric. Food was disappointing. The "sashimi grade" tuna was of poor quality. The stone crab claws have gone up in price and down in quality. The lobster bisque was served with some fanfare but failed the taste test. The side dishes of mashed potatoes and steamed broccoli were served at less than room temperature. Service - Our waiter gave the impression that he'd pretty much rather be doing anything than to be serving us. His mumbled delivery of the nightly specials had my wife and I leaning over the table afterwards comparing notes."

  • "The food and ambience were very good! I had the Blackened Redfish with creole sauce and crawfish tails - I have yet to find a place that has a better lobster bisque than Gaidos in Galveston, and this place was no exception. Trulucks lobster bisque was very good but it was still leagues behind Gaidos. You only get two very small pieces of lobster with the bisque, as oppose to Gaidos where you get a small pile of cut-up lobster so you get to enjoy the lobster all the way to the end. I may be harsh on the bisque, but i really think the food at Trulucks was excellent. I will definitely be going back as much as I can!"

  • "Truluck's - The Traveler Review #1,349 The decor is very similar to Shaw's Crab House in Chicago. The live keyboardist playing in the bar and broadcast through the restaurant sound system was awful, diners at Truluck's deserve better than this musical choice. The wine list is deep, I chose a 2010 Artadi Rioja which was great. I had the Blackened Redfish Pontchartrain with a side of steamed broccoli. Someone forgot to tell the chef that I ordered a fish entree, not a tiny 3oz piece of fish. The Redfish I did get was delicious and loaded with flavor. The menu offers plenty of opportunity to indulge in fine dining at its best. If only they can just find the rest of my Redfish and a better musician..."

Surf and turf excellent; the steak was very flavorful and the Dutch harbor king crab leg was delicious. The surprise standout was the miso-glazed seabass. The flavors and crab fried ric were to die for. Ambiance was old school, romantic, and intimate. It was my boyfriend's birthday and they brought him a chocolate bread pudding on a plate that had happy birthday written in chocolate. To top it off they poured cherries jubilee on top and set it on fire. It was a wonderful experience."

I have visited the Trulucks in Ft.Lauderdale and had high expectations for this location to live up to. By no means did this location fall short of any of those expectations and the manager even gave me a call the next day personally to thank me for dining!! If that is not outstanding customer service i am not sure what is."

Outstanding service — timely, personable, friendly, efficient, helpful — and excellent food, especially the Florida stone crabs for which they are famous (and to the best of my knowledge, unique in the Houston area) and a very tasty Italian pinot grigio that accompanied them. We are admittedly wimps about spicy foods, so would have preferred a bit less spice or pepper in the tasty lobster bisque, which other Houstonians might consider fairly mild, but that is literally the only thing we could even think of to mention that wasn't 100% how we'd have wanted it. A wonderful, lovely evening, definitely look forward to the next one."

  • "I had a wonderful evening at Truluck's. The food was great, the mixed drinks were perfect and more affordable than I expected. There was an immense wine list but we didn't have any. Maybe it was because of the time we came but the service as Impeccable. we didn't wait that long for anything. Our waitress was wonderful (If i could have given her a $100 tip, I would have) and everything went smoothly. best dining experience I have ever had."
