The biggest surprise was the house salad while the BBQ shrimp reminded me of the best examples from New Orleans. Service is always top notch and staff is super friendly. Great job, Truffles."

  • "Really enjoyed the bar atmosphere prior to our meal. Dining room was perfectly lit with a nice jazz music playing in the background. Our meal was timely and delicious. Trout is amazing and the beef tartar is easily the best in Saint Louis. Our other favorites include a house salad and the risotto with usually available freshly shaved truffles. Super Tasty! This restaurant continues to impress and we are surprised that there is no line at the door, although some Friday and Saturday nights it is hard to get in. Can't wait to go back."

The best duck ever and some unbelievable Japanese beef off of the special menu for the evening. We are coming back for more. Great experience!"

  • "We had the hamburger--excellent --a mile high with the bun; the duck which was superb, raves only; the dinner salad was dressed just right with a tasty but light dressing; the trout with crab was fine, but swimming in too much butter for my taste. I found it so rich I could only eat a few bites. The bananas foster for dessert was wonderful, but had a bit too much brandy or whatever alcohol is added. The prices are quite high so it's basically a special occasion place. The waiter was wonderful."

  • "All of the food was excellent, but our favorite was the roasted duck. I was the best duck we ever had. It was tender with great crisped skin. The marrow bone appetizer was huge and expertly prepared. Our waiter was knowledgeable, attentive and brought the whole dining experience up a level. I am sure Truffles and the customers will miss him when he leaves for graduate school in the fall. This is definitely a restaurant we will be going back to."

  • "Returning to truffles is like coming back home. The staff gives a warm welcome. Duke makes an awesome drink and the food is terrific. Best duck in town. Excellent burgers. Crayfish wedge is a good bet. French fries are killer. Amazing wine list. Knowledgeable wait staff. All around memorable experience."

  • "We decided to celebrate our anniversary at Truffles this year and we are very glad that we did! We were greeted at the table with Champaign to toast our special night. Our server was knowable and attentive. The Sommelier picked us a great bottle of wine that didn’t break the bank. We ordered the Dover Sole and Smoked Duck and both were amazing! Thank you Truffles we will be back soon!"

  • "I went to Truffles for a nice dinner and to try something new and it was really nice! The service was wonderful and the setting was nice, quiet, and romantic. I would recommend this restaurant to anyone wanting to get out and have a nice romantic dinner or a nice grown-up dinner. I would not recommend taking children there. The food was good for the most part although there were a couple of items that were not the best I've ever had but good."

  • "My husband and I were celebrating a special occasion. While the menu prices are much higher than what we would normally spend, we were very impressed with the food. The roasted bone marrow lived up to it's impeccable reputation, my husband loved the tuna tartare, and we both were very pleased with their specialty... Their in-house aged str steak. The wine list was very impressive, as was the knowledge of our server, Chris. A definite must for St. Louisians looking for fine dining, and a great place to impress visitors. (We also appreciated that the dress code is casual!)"

  • "Service was excellent. Food was all well done; however, it was promoted by waiter as "best you'll ever have" which set expectations higher than what was delivered. Well prepared, nice presentation, tasty selections but not so memorable as to say it was the "best ever." Well worth the price though and we'll happily return."

  • "The chicken dish was outstanding as well as the barbeque ribs that were falling off the bone. We were greeted with a glass of champagne for our anniversary and given delicious house made chocolate truffles at the end. Overall, the service was excellent and attentive despite the busy night.   • "we went friday night with friends. While the service was fine, two of the four dinners (dover sole and something else (see not even memorbale)) were lame and had little flavor. The salad was suppossed to have goat cheese on it but only had trace amounts smeared on the bottom of the plate- very odd. We told the waitress who gave the customary "we'll let them know" which means do nothing / whatever. Check was almost $400- at least $300 more than it was worth. Won't go back- very dissapointed."

  • "This restaurant continually manages to satisfy variety of tastes and ambiances. We had it all here, from quiet corner chef tasting dinners to laud and casual bar burger (the best in town by a wide margin) outings. I even had a private party in the back room and it was amazing. Pay attention to how much effort goes into making sure that the food is served all at once. No one does this in the entire city. It is theatrical, impressive and most importantly, effective. The quality of food is second to none. Try duck, any steak, chicken, scallops, bone marrow, trout...I could name the entire menu. Can't get enough of Truffles!"

  • "Disappointed with the menu. This restaurant has undergone MANY chef changes in the past. Had a hamburger -- had been recommended - too much meat and overdone. One OUTSTANDING offering - bone marrow -- if we go again -- I'd order it as an entree. Again -- there was too much on the plate for an appetizer. My husband ordered the trout and said it was very good. Very little else on the menu I would order."

  • "My husband and I went for our wedding anniversary. 3 courses + dessert. perfectly proportioned. 1. cured salmon with some chives, creme fresh - light, lovely without relying too heavily on citrus/acid. 2. soup with shaved white truffles - nice proportion because after a few spoons with their lovely ciabatta toast with truffle butter, you want more. 3. new york strip with their Worcestershire sauce, brussels sprouts and potatoe. Great dish. I like my steak well-done and this was exactly so without being dry. Dessert was 4 chocolate truffles - one white, one milk and two dark chocolate. All lovely. The waiter was good. Only 3 stars for service because of wait at the entrance without being attended. Wonderful meal. Great value."

  • "This is my second time eating at Truffles and both times I was extremely impressed with the preparation of the food, quality, taste, presentation and the service. I ate there on a Thursday night after Christmas and it was not very busy in the restaurant, and the prior time it was a Saturday night and again not overly crowded, which surprises me given the amazing meals I experienced both times. I guess by St. Louis standards this restaurant would be considered expensive, but I feel the overall experience and incredible service I received made it a good value in my mind. This is a great restaurant to celebrate those special occasions!"

  • "We dine at Truffles every year for a special holiday dinner with friends. Our meal was excellent. I had Dover Sole which is hard to find on a menu and difficult to cook and debone well. Mine was cooked to perfection and hot! My husband had a very flavorful strip steak. One of our friends is gluten-intolerant and our server knew what to recommend for her. The restaurant was decorated beautifully and looked very festive for Christmas. We had a very attentive and informative server and sommelier. It was a great dining experience!"

  • "Terrine which was less than average but the truffle risotto was fabulous. Had I had known what was to come, I would have ordered a double order and called it a night. But the waiter, whose service by the way was impeccable, said the strip was the best thing on the menu. 2 of us ordered it rare and it was cooked to perfection but the steak was dry as the Sahara and the plate probably had more flavor. The potato was a gooey, greasy mess, the salad (Caesar) had a great presentation but it was a lemon salad dressing not a Caesar. GF ordered the smoked duck. It was just duck smothered in some sauce. Nothing special. Manager, was super nice, offered us a free chocolates (also average) & a free certificate but probably still would not return."

  • "Dining experience was ok. Ordered the gumbo it was luke warm. I felt there should have been something else served with it besides a bowel of "soup" Another person ordered Turkey BLT there was no turkey and fries were cold. Waiter was nice and personable making a so-so dining experience better. I would go back, I could tell it was just a bad day."
