A word from The Tropicale
A chic and sophisticated décor provides the setting for our distinctive "world cuisine", a provocative mix of zesty influences that creates a delightful dining experience in Palm Springs, California. Plush high-backed semicircular banquettes surround our dining room and offer comfortable and private seating. The cuisine has a light, exotic feel with an emphasis on Pacific Rim specialties, from Chilean Sea Bass baked in Banana Leaves or Kahlua-Barbecued Pork Chops to all sorts of tasty tapas, salads, wood-fired pizzas, and desserts. The Coral Seas Lounge, a hip mid-century style bar is lined with sexy black leather bar-stools and is reminiscent of the upbeat lounges of old Palm Springs. It wraps around the dining room and leads outside to a lush, tropical, 2000 square foot dining patio where a variety of specialty cocktails and old-school favorites are mixed - an ideal place where friends gather and martinis are sipped under the starlit desert sky.Continued

  • "The best place in Palm Springs to just plain go and have a good time. It always feels like a party whether you're indoors or out. The food is great and they make the best drinks in town. Plus everyone is so friendly."

  • "We found a little gem in Palm Springs. It was a nice atmosphere with live music. The food was very good and the choices were a surprise "

  • "The restaurant has a great patio, perfect for desert dining in the spring. The service was slow, many bus boys but not enough servers. Our dinner for 3 took over 2.5 hours, I was visiting with old friends so we didn't mind but don't go if you are on a tight schedule. The food was good, not great, and a bit pricey - but the restaurant is a Palm Springs classic so worth the experience."

  • "The Tropicale in Palm Springs, California is hip and fabulous. We sat outside on the patio on a beautiful night. The décor of The Tropicale is fantastic and tropical. The food, service and atmosphere excellent. The Tropicale is a treat! This restaurant is definitely one of the best in Palm Springs and the Coachella Valley!"

  • "Always a great experience made even better by going online and making our table res. while we were driving there."

  • "We ate here in April 2014. Initially were seated inside; inside it's like stepping into what I would imagine a swinging 1960's dining hall would be like, but not in a "cool retro" kind of way. Not trying to be ageist, but the lighting, decor, menu, crowd, etc... if you're not a septuagenarian you're probably not going to dig it. (And it was freezing, and majority patrons had full leisure suits on). So we asked to be seated outside, to which the waiter and hostess were SUPER accommodating and helpful.... different crowd, different vibe, way less stodgy. Food was decent, cocktails were ok, wine list decent. All in all, nice place to sit outside and eat, but nothing's really going to drive me to return."

  • "This was my first time to The Tropicale and I'll definitely return. On recommendation from Laura, our lovely server, I tried the Crispy Southern Fried Chicken on a bacon jalapeno waffle and was quite impressed. The chicken was perfectly cooked and had a nice blend of seasonings (including a little 'heat' from pepper) and the collard greens with bacon were a terrific accompaniment. Friends had Salmon Eggs Benedict and pasta and all enjoyed their meals. Their "house" bloody mary was quite flavorful as well. We really enjoyed the lovely outdoor patio setting. "

  • "Ate at The Tropicale based on reccomendation of work associate. Decor and ambiance created a casual atmosphere, and our waitress was fun and attentive. Best of all, the food was wonderful. Two of us ordered from the "special" menu, and the third member of our group ordered from the standard menu. All items were nicely prepared and served. Wish I lived closer so that a return visit could be made."

  • "There were 6 of us, we all enjoyed our entrees, edamame, calamari, apps, pineapple upsidedown cake dessert, great cocktails. We hadn't been here in awhile and were very happy that everthing was still just as good as we remember. It was great having Lacey as our server again. She is friendly, knows the menu and make the evening enjoyable!"

  • "We brought out-of-town friends to dine and they couldn't have been more impressed with the outstanding service and excellent food choices. Tropicale is one of the best run restaurants in Palm Springs. And the menu is updated frequently to keep it exciting."

  • "The food throughout the meal was terrific--just what I've come to expect--until we got to the end. We ordered some sort of chocolate dessert with an inviting description on the menu. When we got the dessert, it was virtually inedible. To be fair, I've eaten here several times and this is the first bad dish I've encountered. But that chocolate mess needs to be taken off the menu pronto!"

  • "We went for an early dinner before a show and sat on the patio. There was a lively happy hour crowd enjoying themselves in the lobby and on the patio. We had coconut martinis which were great. I had the mushroom pizza and my husband had the Big A** shrimp entree, which he loved. The food is quite good and the waitstaff is attentive. This was our second visit for dinner and we'll be back."

  • "Off of the beaten path in PS, Tropicale is a welcome oasis. From the decor to the big comfy booths, to the dim lighting and the nice outdoor bar/patio to the great food, it's always a must when we visit. The small plates are varied and all delicious. Everyone can surely find a favorite. Awesome drink menu as well."

  • "We come to Tropicale every time we're in town. And it's the perfect place to bring first time guests. The food is excellent, the ambiance is fabulous, and the service is spot on. Our favorite dining spot is the outdoor patio, which is open year round, but inside is great too. Love it!"

  • "I went here on a busy Thursday night during Villagefest. My husband and I arrived a little early so we had a drink at the very nice and very hopping bar. We were seated on time at the outdoor patio by the fountain. This is one of my favorite patios anywhere. The food and service were excellent. I will definitely be back?"

  • "Wines listed on menu were out if stock. Waiter was kinda inconsistent but friendly. My fish dish was ultra salty. But the pork chops are rich. This place is best for brunch on patio and people watching. Even then, don't be in a hurry."

  • "It seems like we went on a rare off night as I have been here many times before. No food seemed to be coming out of the kitchen for about 1 hour... We understand when things happen, but what's important is how they handle it. The Waiter didn't really acknowledge the issue and once we asked, he seemed to shy away from us. The manager was good enough to stop by and apologize and offer us some cookies as a dessert. We really appreciate it more when the management stops to communicate. The waiter needs to be a little more forward on the info, but other than that, he was fine. We plan to return and hope this was a one time anomaly. Food was outstanding when it came. Fried Chicken and I had Spaghetti (I heard chef is Italian so ordered)"

  • "This was our third time there, but first time sitting outside. Not the same ambiance or service. Also my Mahi-Mahi was sub par. I should have had the special as my friends did. They said theirs was great."

  • "The outdoor ambience is quite remarkable. Definitely make reservations and specify that's where you'd like to be. We made one ahead of time through Open Table, our table wasn't ready when we first arrived, but the hostess grabbed a lounge server and made sure we were taken care of. Our server in the lounge was awesome, wish we could have had her as our dinner server. Our server in the dining area was not so great. He was nice enough, but had very little wine and food knowledge and as soon as he brought the check, he disappeared for the rest of the night. The food was great and the support staff did a good job as well, waters were always full. We are very happy we chose to spend one of our nights there and would definitely go back!"

  • "Our surly waiter acted like we were really putting him out. My filet mignon was overwhelmed by a heavy-tasting, anything-but-subtle sauce. Asparagus and collard greens had an odd scorched finish. When told we were celebrating a birthday, our barely civil server brought a straight-from-the-freezer, still frozen tower of something (ice cream? whipped cream? biscuits?) that our spoons couldn't cut through. Hard to believe Tropicale could be anybody's favorite Palm Springs restaurant. I'll never go back. Wouldn't recommend it to anybody."
