Diner Reviews
  • "Quality, reasonably priced entrees and an outstanding salad bar (is there a better one in Naples) make this restaurant stand out. Friendly, casual atmosphere also makes it appealing for groups."

  • "This is an established restaurant that specializes in seafood and beef. We had the Prime Rib and Beef Stroganoff. The salad bar is amazing...it would be possible to make a meal on that option with just an appetizer. A big shout out to the Key Lime Pie; one of the best pies I have ever tasted. The perfect combination of tang and sweet and the slice was quite large. The food was so good I left the restaurant feeling as I do after every Thanksgiving meal. The phrase "I can't believe I ate the whole thing springs to mind". We took advantage of the early bird discount. Dinner for 3 without drinks was 90.00 (tip not included),"

  • "Rated as one of the best prime rib places to eat was a great disappointment. I would rate the prime rib as just good but not any where near the best. The building is old and needs some upgrades as the ambience is bla."

  • "The Ambience was just ok, The food was very good. It could use a good spring cleaning. Some of the chairs need some upkeep as well. I would go back."

  • "party of 6 had a great time and everything was very good, no complaints, however last 2 visits did not have the onion soup or NE clam chowder which is to die for! Hope next time"

  • "We hadn't been to the Pewter Mug for several years. This visit was to celebrate our 47th anniversary. We both ordered Prime Rib from the early bird menu. My first piece of meat wasn't rare enough but our server and the owner both made sure I got another plate with a super piece of meat. I ordered the lean cut at first but found out that the loin cut is juicier and can be more rare! The chicken vegetable soup was outstanding as was the salad bar. Happy Hor prices for the drinks were very resonable. We'll be back!"

  • "Pewter Mug is our favorite--eat here several times a month. Great Prime Rib, Steaks and Fish dishes as well as an extensive Salad Bar with some of the best soups around."

  • "We've eaten at The Pewter Mug off and on for many years. As always, the food is top notch. The atmosphere is unchanging. It is a reliable dining experience. We are always satisfied with the service, atmosphere and delicious food."

  • "The prime rib was excellent and it was prepared exactly as requested. The salad bar was small but well stocked with a good selection of fresh vegetables. While we did not have any soup from the soup bar many other patrons seemed to enjoy it. The prices where fair for the quality and quantity. I will certainly return."

  • "Prime rib is the star of the show here. Different size portions for different appetites. Very nice salad bar as well. Decor is a bit dated, but ya can't eat atmosphere. An excellent dining experience."

  • "Surrounded by water on 3 sides and no water view. DEmolish and rebuild. Salad bar and soup great. Beef stroganoff disappointing."

  • "Great prime rib, as usual. Have to step up the decor. Old and tired looking. "

  • "The salad bar was very fresh but small though a nice assortment. Did not try the soups although have the other diners did. My husband and I had the small prime rib and it was done perfectly. The steak fries were nice and crispy. The decor could use some updating."

  • "The Pewter mug is still ok there food is decent. I did really enjoy the salad bar. We had not been in over 20years and the restruant doesn't look any different I thought they were pricey."

  • "The Pewter Mug has been around forever, and their appeal for me is the great salad bar along w/the raisin bread, Always wondered why they squandered their beautiful setting by putting their parking lot next to the river--their dark windowless interior could have looked out over the river and an open deck would have topped it off."

  • "Excellent restaurant especially the Prime Rib along with a great salad bar"

  • "This is a wonderful restaurant that my husband and I really enjoy. They have the best salad bar I've ever seen, and it is included with all entrees. It has so many great selections, make all their salad dressings in-house, and also 2 soups. As far as the menu, they have many different items, but I always get their Prime Rib. It is always excellent, and comes with your choice of potato. The prices are reasonable, and they also have a full bar and wine list."

  • " I have to say the ambience has changed, the wait staff has changed, and the steak I had was not the best for the money. It was a little chewy and not a lot of flavor. I think it's time to make it special again, tables re-arranged, a new look inside would be nice. All male wait staff was (in my opinion) unique. Make it something to talk about... When I filled in the reservation on line, it ask if there was any occasion. I said it was my wife's birthday. When greeted, and the gal check our reservation, nothing was said. I had to speak to my waiter when my wife left the table and ask if he knew it was her birthday. He responed that he was not informed. That showed me that the restaurant is Not on top of things."

  • "While the food was wonderful, the atmosphere definitely did NOT live up to what was presented on the commercials. We were looking for a romantic restaurant to celebrate our anniversary. We did not find it at this restaurant. The atmosphere was noisy and chaotic. There was absolutely nothing romantic or endearing. I was also disturb by the fact that there were 3 people sitting at the end of the "over flow" salad bar, basically breathing and leaning over all the plates. I will recommend this restaurant for the food, but will be sure to include an opinion of the atmosphere. I am not sure we will come back. There are other places that we can get great prime rib with a better ambiance. "

  • "Prime rib was excellent as usual, though the tomato basil soup was good, I passed on the black bean soup, definitely missed my favorite French onion soup followed closely by NE clam chowder, maybe next time!"

  • "For a minute I thought we had stepped back into the 1970's.. Old decor, lighting is a bit harsh. They pour a good cocktail. Staff was a pretty good bunch of people. Big salad bar.. Our food was okay.. If you go stick with their speciality which is prime rib..."

  • "They have wonderful Prime Rib & Steaks as well as excellent fish dishes. Their Salad Bar and soups are without equal in the area."

  • "My husband and I were on vacation and staying at a nearby hotel. We read reviews and expected a decent meal at a reasonable price and that is what we got. Our server, Cindy, was friendly and responsive to our needs."

  • "The Pewter Mug has great prime rib....lean and extremely tender. Our group ordered everything from an end cut to extremely rare, and all were pleased with their meals. The service was great....very friendly wait staff. Huge salad bar with everything imaginable on it including two soups. This is dining "old school" but nevertheless outstanding. Prices are reasonable and valet parking is complimentary. "

  • "The menu says this restaurant opened in 1970. The current decor takes you back to the 70's. Every time you drive by it is busy at the dinner hour. We went on a Monday night and good thing we had a reservation. The dining room was packed and so was the bar area. Over hearing a number of the patrons leaving and they knew the wait staff and the wait staff knew them, so lot's of regulars. We both had the Prime Rib and it was excellent. Service was good and friendly."

  • "I found the taste of the steak to be good. I was not impressed with the salad bar. The waitress was slow and didn't seem that bright. Two people in our party ordered the same size strip steak, but one was obviously much bigger than the other."

  • "One of our guests did not get her sirloin steak rare, as requested. She was offered the prime rib which would take less time to prepare and it was to her liking."
