A word from The Majestic Restaurant
The Majestic Restaurant carries on the Kansas City traditions of great food and great jazz. We serve brunch Saturday and Sunday, lunch Monday-Friday, and dinner seven nights a week. Featuring Kansas City's best dry-aged beef, chops, and seafood and located in the historic Fitzpatrick Saloon building at 10th and Broadway in downtown Kansas City, The Majestic Restaurant offers a true Kansas City dining experience like no other. Enjoy a great steak and fine wine in our main dining room alongside a grand bar dating back to 1910, or have dinner in our lower level jazz club, the site of an actual speakeasy during prohibition, all while listening to some of Kansas City's best jazz musicians seven nights a week. An extensive wine list, creative cocktails by nationally renowned bartender Shawn Moriarty, a list of over 100 whiskeys, and a sinful selection of delectable homemade desserts provide the perfect accompaniment to the meal and the music.

Diner Reviews
  • "We went to see the jazz trio and to have drinks/desserts. Everything was fantastic. The music was unbelievable and the the cocktails and desserts were perfect. Will certainly go again."

  • "This place is a must visit cool place for serious Jazz listeners who also enjoy dining quality food with great service. Music and musicians are too notch."
    Dined on 4/13/2014
  • "Although not bad, I just don't see where the price matched the quality. My T-Bone, while cooked perfectly was rather tough as well as small in relation to the $58 price tag. I was expecting a Morton's quality steak and what I received, in my option, was little better than Outback. The aged atmosphere was great and the live Jazz band in the cellar was pretty cool. Perhaps an anomaly that it was just not a good piece of meat, I just expected more."

  • "Had dinner in the basement where they had a great jazz trio. It used to be a speakeasy and is a great place to dine. Great service and meal. The filet was cooked to my liking - rare. When visiting KC this is a must."
    Dined on 4/9/2014
  • "Over many, many years this restaurant has been consistent in providing excellent and attentive service, mouthwatering aged steaks cooked to exact "done-ness" by color, vegetables cooked just enough to retain a healthy crunch, and other notable niceties you'll pick up on during your meal."
    Dined on 3/29/2014
  • "This was our 2nd time for brunch and the food was great and filling. I thought the piano player was a little loud, but that could be associated with the openness of the building. My wife and I had the special and was very satisfied."

  • "We stumbled on the Majestic Restaurant about a year ago. It is by far our favorite steakhouse in town! Every time we go, the steaks are always perfectly prepared and melt in your mouth. The wait staff is knowledgable of the menu, friendly and always accommodating. We love the atmosphere, the great jazz music and antique bar on the main level. We dine here often prior to a show at the Kauffman or any opportunity we have to share this gem with out-of-town guests."

  • "One of the best dining experiences that I have had in Kansas City. The staff is very knowledgeable and they have a great wine list as well as a spirit list. I had prime rib and it was beyond amazing! The jazz music is loud but if you sit downstairs it is not as loud. I would highly recommend dining here to any of my friends or clients. I would make reservations if you plan to visit."
    Dined on 4/4/2014
  • "The Majestic is great. Live Jazz downstairs so not good to sit there if you have Business to discuss. The jazz is too loud to talk so be sure to tell them in your reservation that you need upstairs seating if you are dining over business."

  • "We enjoyed a meal on Saturday night in the Jazz club below The Majestic Restaurant. The steaks were good, the pasta dish was excellent, and the atmosphere was fun. The music also enjoyable, especially the pianist."

  • "We went to the Majestic on Saturday early evening before a performance at the Kauffman. We had an excellent meal, one of the best steaks I have had in a long time. Amy our server was cheerful, efficient and seemed to take interest in our activities."

  • "Love, love, love The Majestic. Food is always amazing and the staff are friendly. Steak is possibly the best we've had anywhere! Definitely recommend dining in the jazz room, awesome music and the environment is very romantic. Must dine here!!"

  • "Completely enjoyed out dining experience! The food and drinks were fantastic! The music and the well maintained facility made the evening one to remember!"

  • "Food was spectacular, service was a bit lacking. No live jazz as advertised. Food makes it worth a return trip."
    Dined on 3/15/2014
  • "Love the downstairs for entertainment. The service was over the top as well. Food superb. I will be back."
    Dined on 3/15/2014
  • "The food was phenomenal, service was excellent, and this dining experience was a testament to the fact that you can't "judge a book by its cover"...if our group of 15 had done so, we would have changed plans for the evening. While severely lacking in curb appeal, The Majestic makes up in charm, historical curiosity and gourmet delights what it lacks in aesthetic beauty. For future patrons, I'd recommend giving this place a shot. For the owners, I'd recommend giving this place a bigger competitive advantage with a little TLC on the outside!"

  • "Good food, good whiskey, and good Jazz - what more could you want?"
    Dined on 3/11/2014
  • "The food was great, the atmosphere is awesome, and the service was wonderful! Went to celebrate 2 special birthdays and everything was great! Dining upstairs for a more quiet, romantic experience. Downstairs dining if you want to listen to the live jazz that plays 7 nights a week. I love when places have an interesting history, and this one has a great story!"

  • "Excellent fillet perfectly prepared. Sides also first rate. Fun stride piano player early evening. Classic traditional restaurant, worth considering before a concert downtown."
    Dined on 3/7/2014
  • "8oz filet was grilled to perfection. Had the cheese plate and artichoke dip for appetizers. Both very fresh."

  • "Great evening all the way around from the food to the service to the ambiance. Amy our server was outstanding! Little pricey on the food but overall the experience was a 10 for us since it was the first time attending this restaurant! Thank you for making it a wonderful weekend!"

  • "A great meal and a world-class steak can be found all around the Midwest. The Majestic did not disappoint! Truly spectacular service is difficult to find anywhere. Our service at The Majestic was among the best I have EVER had, anywhere! The jazz club had some terrific live music, and when they weren't playing it was very quiet. The groups are small, only 3 to 4 tables per server to facilitate the spectacular service and quiet ambiance. Try the mussels and fries! Great wine list and largest selection of whiskeys I have ever seen! We were never rushed and the room was the perfect temperature to relax and enjoy the great jazz. Perfect for a romantic evening!"

  • "Much enjoyed a Valentine's Day dinner. A piano player, good dishes to choose from, the staff was helpful and friendly, the wine pours were generous, and the wait for each dish was short A steak meal was $38, but well worth it when it comes with two sides and a soup or salad. The steaks, YUM, cooked to perfection and lots of extras -- peppercorn crust, tasty sauces and cheeses -- to choose from. Loved the atmosphere, plenty of decor to look at. My only knocks are the tables are positioned tight, so you'll hear neighboring conversation. (Don't bring kids in such close quarters. Please.) Also, the crowd at the large bar gets loud and rowdy. I dug it, but those looking for a quiet/intimate time may not. Certainly a place to try! Good memories!"

  • "Everything about the Majestic feels like a step back in time - in a good way. Love that this restaurant is still in business. The atmosphere, food and service are all excellent. We sat downstairs this time tho - right in front of the band - and it was hard to talk so won't sit that close again."

  • "The crab cakes were amazing. The glazed lamb chops are a must have! My steak was cooked perfectly. The waiter David is awesome."

  • "The waiter was horrible. First we order an appitzer that we had to ask for once he told us our food would be ready in ten minutes which at that time we already was waiting for over 30 minutes. Then he tell us he forgot so he would give it to us to go. Second thing was when our food was brought out to us, of course it was warm. Then I asked for ketchup and I never got that until I had to ask a second time which by that time my potatoes were cold. Third thing was we ordered dessert and after waiting he just brought our bill out. We said we want our dessert and he was like I'm sorry I forgot. He then brings the dessert out which had ice cream as part of the dessert but gave us forks to eat with. See rest of comments in private notes."

  • "Great vibe in the jazz club downstairs on a Saturday night. I had pork cutlets, wife had bacon/brie filet - both very good. You get seated very close to other tables, but with live jazz that is quite all right."

  • "Cannot find anything negative to say, just a wonderful atmosphere"

  • "I will not dwell on the history of the location, google for that; the review should be on dining experience. An outstanding selection of food, properly prepared with the respect it deserves coupled with a knowledgable wait staff made this evening one to remember. A beautifully paired menu with each choice better than the last made the meal quite memorable. This is not a "steak house". It is a very good restaurant that serves beef and many other things as well . . . and they serve their meals extremely well. This was my wife's first time to the Majestic and the first in manyyears for me. We have just moved back to KC and I wanted to try it again . . . . we will be back and hope to see you there. It is worth making it your destination."

  • "My husband had never been to the Majestic Steakhouse, thought it would be a great experience for him. He ordered the prime rib med rare, it was served med and his vegetables were cold, we certainly didn't expect to get the plate returned that was obviously put in a microwave. He wasn't not impressed with the taste of the prime rib, will not make another visit."

  • "If great live music and food are what you're looking for, look no further. We had a table 12 feet from the jazz trio and did not feel over powered by the music. (which was great!) Make a reservation for 7pm and show up 20-30 minutes early so you can take in the menu and order before the music starts. Everything was very good. The dry aged steaks were very tender and tasty and so was each part of the meal. My favorite was the roasted tomato soup with fried/grilled parmesan patty standing in it. Yum! Vegetables were also fresh and steamed to perfection. Bring money because this cornucopia of comestible culinary cookery combined with the great music isn't cheap, but you will definitely get your moneys worth."

  • "They were very friendly, even gave us the happy hour drink specials at our table. The wine pour was plentiful and excellent. Went to the Jazz Bar downstairs after dinner and had an extremely enjoyable time there."

  • "Introduced some friends to Steak Fitzpatrick. Fabulous food and great martinis. Our waiter was very attentive. The music was overpowering. Couldn't hear the person across the table."

  • "This is a very nice restaurant. The atmosphere was very energetic, the music was great and the food was excellent. This was a very busy day. Although we had a reservation, we waited 45 min to be seated. All in all, it was a good experience."
