Diner Reviews
  • "We have been happy with everthing we've had, paste, veal, seafood. The vegies are generally over cooked though, and the duck dish was lackluster. The candied pecan rice with it not good either. Desserts are top notch, Little Village blend wine is very good, both the red and the white. Currently my favorite place......... wish they'd improve on the vegies though. And they shouldn't charge extra if you substitute for their one vegie of the day. I put outstanding on the food despite the vegies......."

  • "Without a doubt one of the finest dinner spots in Baton Rouge. Food, service and atmosphere was perfect. Creme Brûlée was to die for! Wonderful evening."

  • "Our waiter was great!! He took our drink orders as soon as we sat down. Our food was brought out in a timely manner pipping hot and oh so yummy!!"

  • "Although the food was very good either the kitchen was under staffed or our server had too many tables. We had reservations for 6:45 arrived at 6:35 and were immediately seated. After ordering it took until 7:15 to bring our bread and then 7:30 to bring our salad. The server told us our salad would be right out 10 min before it was brought to our table. By the time the main course was delivered i was ready to take it to go. The layout of the restaurant forces foot traffic by nearly every table. Twice during our meal other servers bumped the back of our chair. Great tasting but over priced Italian. I would suggest you plan ahead and order to go. Not a dining experience I plan to repeat soon."

  • "Clarence was our server. He did an outstanding job taking care of our table even though we had 4 children under the age of 9 years. We always enjoy Little Village!!"

  • "We love going to the Little Village because the food and wine selection is wonderful. If they don't have a wine we like, the waitress is always good at recommending something else. The staff is very friendly."

  • "...But I was disappointed with my Open Table experience. Other reviewers have commented that they always get the worst tables tables (like near the kitchen) with their OT reservations. I've been to this place several times, not through OT, and have always gotten a decent seat, so I didn't worry about that. I should have. The hostess crammed us in a tiny booth in heavy waiter traffic. So my service was spotty even though the area was busy. And this was after she laughed at us for wanting 2 wine and cocktail lists. Their veal dishes are decent, and they have a good selection of steaks and pasta dishes. Wine cocktail list are excellent. The veal was a little too salty this time. Overall, I recommend the place... With those caveats."

  • "The menu selection was diverse yet not overwhelming. All the dishes were cooked perfectly. Service was wonderful. We had a wonderful Father's Day meal."

  • "This is one of my favorite restaurants. It is a much needed venue in south Baton Rouge with a great location. I have not had a meal that I did not like. t's signature bread is outstanding. The Seafood Medley is to die for! Leave room for the bread pudding...delicious."

  • "We went for Father's Day and even with an abbreviated menu it was still a wonderful experience. We had a party of 5 and everyone went home happy and with a full stomach. They even offered complimentary bread pudding for Father's Day. The service was amazing. Our waiter was prompt, friendly and accurate. I will be going back soon. Don't look down you nose just because this location is in a store front, the atmosphere is nice, the service was great and the food was wonderful."

  • "Had a great time, this was my 3rd time dining here- amazing service, great food, perfect presentation. Will certainly be back. It is a special occasion place for us though since it's a little more expensive than others!"

  • "The food and service are always consistent. Really good Italian food which is hard to find. Steaks and seafood are also excellent. All around my favorite place to go."

  • "Made reservations through Open Table and left a memo that we were celebrating an Anniversary. After we were served drinks, the waitress made mention of this and that was appreciated. We ate out on a Thursday night, and there weren't many people there but the Hostess still asked if we made a reservation, so that was nice. Being that it was a Thursday probably led to the casualness of the patrons there, the noise level was kinda loud at the bar. We had a 1/2 loaf of the bread and it was pretty good. I ordered another loaf because my pasta, did not come with bread. Overall it was a good dining experience."

  • "This is one restaurant that no matter what you will have a terrific experience. If you ever have an issue they will address it immediately. A++ on service, food and atmosphere."

  • "The staff was pleasant from the moment I walked in the door. We were given the waiter Ben. He was wonderful. He was very attentive and extremely kind. The food was great. I had the fish of the day on the brunch menu with the ratatouille, which was phenomenal. Following my entree, I ordered the off menu chocolate cannoli that were out of this world. The 7$ bottomless bellinis, mimosas, and bloody marys are a great deal for brunch as well. I highly recommend Little Village Airline."

  • "My husband and I learned of the "all you can eat Wed lobster night." So we gave it a try. After reviewing the menu, I must admit, it was hard to decide if I still wanted lobster! A wonderful array of fine cuisine! From veal, to steak, to seafood... And I don't mean from a grade of typical steak and seafood chains. This is an actual dining expierience! Perfect for special occasions!! Service was great and was impressed with the manager, who checked on everyone! Trust me, you can go wrong here! And if you want it a little more private, just request it!!!"

  • "We frequent Little Village often. Have never had such a large party for one meal. They sat us up in a private room, the good and service was great. Would recommend to anyone looking for top shelf Italian food. "

  • "Excellent lobster, smallish tables close to the entrance with lots of traffic..."

  • "We (party of 2) were seated at a table too small for the space required for lobster. After 30 minutes, still no salad. The table next to us with a party of 5, that arrived 10 minutes after us, received their salad before we did. Our young waiter was forgetful, and had to be asked for the same items multiple times. The lobster is delicious, affordable, and highly recommended!!!"

  • "The food and service were good, and as expected. However, having made reservations for 10 about 5 days in advance, I would have also expected to be in a better location than directly adjacent to the kitchen doors. It was very loud and distracting, as the doors were constantly flinging open and closed. So the light, the sound, and the various aromas from the kitchen were a constant interruption. Next time I have a party of more than six, I'll choose another place."

  • "The food at The Little Village was very good and the service was too. Only problem was that the entrees were not served hot enough. The plates were even somewhat cold. They need to do something about serving their food hotter and it would taste even better. We had Seafood Arancini, Chicken Parmagiano, Eggplant Parmagiano, Veal Marsala.....all very tasty, just not hot enough!"

  • "Air conditioning created a very chilly dining experience. Had to request manager to turn off the A/C. Server was very inexperienced. Dinner was great as usual, but this experience was much worse than our typically very satisfying weekly visit. "

  • "The bread is good. The service is average at best. The food is bad. The seafood taste like it is frozen food. "

  • "Disappointed in the limited menu and the time from ordering until we got our lunch was totally unacceptable time wise. The food was good and our waiter fine, but with such a limited menu, I would have expected the food to have been out much faster."

  • "We had another memorable meal at the Little Village. We always seem to find ourselves here. The menu is diverse and that's what we like about it. Our waiter was attentive and was willing to please. We had reservations and were seating immediately. Drink and appetizer orders were taken. The main course was excellent. It was a little bit of a wait but was worth it. Everything hot and fresh. Dessert was an excellent way to top off a good meal. Will come again. "

  • "We had a nice business lunch at the Little Village but the service for this visit was not as good as in the past. I wish I had know about the lunch special before ordering. My grilled tuna salad was lovely but the special looked delicious and was a great value."
    Dined on 5/9/2014
  • "We really enjoyed our dining experience there. The only negative thing I could say about it was that the bartenders were not very attentive when we sat at the bar for after dinner drinks. But overall, we really enjoyed it."

  • "Reservations were confirmed at seating desk. We were seated promptly at a great both with a window. Server was prompt and quick with water and bread. The wine list made my choice easy. We both ordered the special of the night . This was only done because waiter described food clearly. My wife was impressed with the total experience. She had been here once before years ago and was not please with a fish plate. I believe we will be back. Thanks Reynold Ankeny"
