Diner Reviews
  • "I came here a few days ago for an anniversary dinner. I've heard of Little Door for ages but for some reason never got around to going there. The staff is great-- fantastic service all around. The food is amazing and the ambience is one of a kind. We'll be back for sure! "

  • "Our group of 6 friends had a lovely dinner here - Saturday night. The service was superb, attentive - just wonderful, and was only upstaged by the menu - and the food! Delicious flavors, beautifully prepared and presented. The staff were very, very friendly and really lovely. Thank-you to the Little door for making our night out so enjoyable ... and so delicious."

  • "Good food, good service, and a beautiful atmosphere. Also a plus that the food is organic and very fresh. Highly recommend."

  • "If you love candles and conversation. If you like to be pampered and want really good food... or just wine... and don't mind paying just a teensy bit much for it... then get in here."

  • "Had a very good experience with the entire dinner- Our waiter being french was able to suggest the perfect glass of wine to have with our respective dinners. Everything was delish and we will be coming back. Thank you!"

  • "The Little Door is always at the top of my list when in L.A. For business. The outside garden room is truly magical. Great Service!"

  • "A truly romantic restaurant! Recommended by Dr. Nicolli of Long Beach. We will eat there again."

  • "Had higher expectations from this restaurant but the food was good but not for the price. I've had better food else where and much cheaper."

  • "Very good food and attentive service. Makes this a nice choice in LA! Very quaint decor gives the illusion of outdoor dining."

  • "Well, I will highly recommend the little door. To be honest, I do love this place so much! I booked this place for a friends' dinner. We ordered a bottle of champagne (forgot the name). We also ordered duck liver, clam, scallop and oyster as appetizer. And I recommend the duck liver here. For entree, I will recommend the couscous! It is really yummy and come with a large portion. The couscous is their special. You must try it! Only one of us enjoyed dessert. The strawberry tart looks pretty, just a little bit sour. I do love the romantic atmosphere there, dim lights and soft music. Great place anyway."

  • "My husband and I had a wonderful dining experience here. So romantic."

  • "The ambience and food was excellence. Definitely a nice romantic place to go and the food was delicious. The service was mediocre for a restaurant of this caliber. The restaurant is also not vegetarian/vegan friendly with only one entree that was vegetarian/vegan. I'd say this would be a good place to go have a glass of wine and a dessert but there are better places for the price. I do, however, recommend The Little Next Door which is immediately adjacent to the The Little Door. I thought the Little Next Door had better menu options for a more reasonable price."

  • "Olivier our server could not have been more perfect, attentive to just the right degree- not hovering but interested in making us happy. the food is always delicious and the ambience is the sexiest in LA."

  • "We had a very pleasant experience at The little Door this week. They took great care of us, especially our waiter, and I feel so bad that I did not catch his name. Tall, accent, dark hair, probably doesn't help much, but he was wonderful!! Thank you!! I was especially appreciative of the Birthday message to my boyfriend that I requested through email, I couldn't believe it!!! So sweet and well planned!! We live 4 hours away, and were more than pleased with our great service. Thanks little Door, you are #1 on the list for a date night in LA. :) Cheers!"

  • "It was a great place for a special evening with my wife. Attentive staff from hostess to wine steward. Salad appetizers were fresh and correct sized. We ordered a filet and a chicken breast and both we're done exactly right. Desserts we chose were simple and tasty. Lovely ambiance on the covered patio, which was warm even on a cool night. Was concerned from other reviews about noise and privacy but not a problem at all. With a fairly high $35 corkage the tab was $200 before gratuity. About what we expected. Will go there again."

  • "Superb food, unique and romantic setting. We always feel like we're having dinner on vacation here. Expensive, but not ridiculous. Wine prices by the glass are a bit high -- spring for a bottle if you're having more than a glass apiece."

  • "1. Neignborhood - No parking that made us rush to get a spot which was not illegal. We did not enjoy to stay in to relax in the dinning period. 2. Service - Waiters did not understand English well. They could not answer our questions after we repeated question few times then got to find other waiter to figure out the question. 3. Food - Appetizer was too salty (duck dish and shrimp), but the main dish and dessert was fine. Only one slice of duck and two small shrimps seemed to expensive for this charge."

  • "Took my girlfriend to the little door... Of course the entrance is a small door and very easy to miss, but once you find it you'll be glad you did.. It has a very romantic ambiance, great food, and wonderful customer service. The little door provided a dining experience that we have not had anywhere else. Our server, Kirk was attentive and extremely nice. The food was delicious. Definitely will be coming here again."

  • "The Sea bass was simply delicious- light and served with a perfect sauce to compliment the fish. The Staff performed their work both efficiently and courteously. The light levels, music and general layout of the restaurant provided a pleasurable evening."

  • "I can see a lot of people liking it but this place isn't for me. Setting is cute but the tables are too close and it can get REALLY LOUD. Service was great though! We came here for DineLA and ordered from that menu. While the presentation was nice, the food itself was okay but not great and on the salty side. Maybe I made the wrong food selections (stuffed calamari for appetizer and farro risotto for main course) because my boyfriend on the other hand enjoyed his chicken dinner. Apple pie, however, was AMAZING. Maybe I'll come here again sometime but I doubt it ... unless I have an apple pie craving!"

  • "First time at Little Door and after I heard so many things wanted to experience myself. Made a reservation and had to confirm with my credit card, which made me already unhappy. We got seated right away in the front of the restaurant - very noisy - could hardly have a conversation without repeating the sentences. We decided on the 'dineLA' $45.00 menu. Both of dishes were either filled or decorated on a lot of mashed potatoes..... a very soupy loup de mer, sweet potatoes mashed and placed like little dots on the plate. Finally got the desserts, have to say, best meal of the evening ( I am not a sweet eater), so left on a better note at the end. Ambience was romantic but noise level way to high. Would I go there again? Not sure??"

  • "I made reservations 3 weeks in advance and asked for patio seating. Alas, first we were squeezed into an end table against a wall that was half into the table in the dining room and when we complained, we were given a seat in another part of the dining room, but not the patio per our request. It was noisy and the tables were crowded together."

  • "Wonderful restaurant. Fresh, local ingredients in delicious dishes. The desserts are excellent. The restaurant is charming and relaxing. The service and the wine list are just right. I can't wait to go back."

  • "The decor of the restaurant was simply stunning. It was a very romantic ambiance and our server Olivier was polite, responsive, and perfect at his job. However, the DineLA menu left much to be desired. Understandably, the prix fixe menu was a good price and I intend to return one day to try the standard menu, but I'm afraid the DineLA experience may have deterred other customers from returning."

  • "Went out on Sunday evening for a romantic dinner with my boyfriend. We sat in a crowded, dim room. There's a long booth seating had cushions, reminded me of a Turkish restaurant I frequented in London. However, the tables were too close to each other. I'm 5'1" and 105lbs and the waiter had to pull it to one side to let me slide through. Also, it's not the restaurant's fault when their patrons are loud but it was annoying when they were so close. My boyfriend enjoyed his duck confit and apple tart. His chicken entree was generously portioned but overcooked, dry. I had the loup de mer and they did the fish quite well. It was flavorful and cooked well. I wasn't a fan of the pot de creme, the salted caramel was too thickly layered on top."

  • "This place is amazing. Great food, gorgeous dinning area and terrific service. I asked our server for a wine recommendation, and rather give me an absurdly priced bottle she suggested a very nice and also affordable bottle. Great place to go if you want to feel like you're away from Los Angeles."

  • "Hard to find, tucked away behind 'a little door' you find a vibrant yet cosy bustling restaurant. You had better know what you prefer to drink or you will spend too long looking at the wine list! Something for everyone with all spending levels covered. The service was outstanding and very friendly. The food was nicely presented and very tasty. Flavours a plenty! This restaurant is worth finding for a great night of gastronomic pleasure."

  • "The deserts are all wonderful. I have the best coconut cheesecake here! The crust on ApplePie was delivious. The atmosphere is so cozy and romantic! I tried the sea bass fish from DineinLA menu, not too good, I'm quite disapointed!"

  • "Very well prepared food, but some odd combinations on the menu. Service is outstanding but the ambiance is quite noisy, making conversation difficult."

  • "For the money spent, my meal was "eh" at best. The ambiance is great, a cool spot with a nice vibe, but so dark I couldn't even see my food, which was OK. For the money spent, I expected to utter "this is delicious" at least once. But nothing was more than average. Disappointed."

  • "Planned the evening for the first date night, dineLA menu. I've had other entrees before and the food is spectacular. The service is spectacular, very nice hostess and the ambiance is great as well. Recommended for first dates, or little romance. It is not super bougie, which makes the atmosphere more comfortable and relaxed. Definitely enjoyed the outdoor seating."
