Diner Reviews
  • "Food was outstanding - we both had the four course premium dinner. Excellent wine selection list - lots of choices. Service was very good , but we both felt rushed as the courses came without much of a break - just finished one the other was on it's way. This was a special occasion to celebrate my wife's birthday -which we indicated when we booked the reservation and there was no recognition by the restaurant. Our table was ok - but cramped by a large table with a group of 10 other diners and I faced the kitchen door - not the best ambiance for the prices. "

  • "Fresh fish selections were gourmet. The wine selection was terrific and the service was stellar. The meal was pricey but the experience was well worth it. Outstanding evening."

  • "Coming from a food snob, I found The Crossing to far exceed my expectations. Every course was superb for every member of a 5 party seating. The waiter could not have been more helpful, friendly and efficient. I best of all, after the meal was over our bill was so reasonable. Bottom line - I would higly recommend."

  • "We really enjoyed our meal, we had the premium menu with, beet salad, and tenderloin as the two best items. They were excellent. We will return when we are in the city"

  • "Haven't been to The Crossing in awhile but it was as good as I remember it. Everyone had the "Tasting" menu at our table and the food was delicious as usual. Waiter was attentive as it should be as The Crossing is expensive."

  • "We enjoyed a delicious dinner at the Crossing, one of our favorite places. We love the tasting menus and made selections from both the regular and the premium. Everything was wonderful, and the service was friendly and excellent."

  • "The two tasting menus are a real treat, plenty of choices for each and nice size portions - small but overall a nice size meal. Great place for dinner or lunch. We will be back!"

  • "The Crossing always is consistently excellent, but last Friday night it was exceptional. The food, the service, everything was the tops! The seared fois gras was the best I've had. It was crazy-good."

  • "The Chef's Grand Tasting Menu at The Crossing is not a meal but an experience. The food is both delicious and exquisite. The service is impeccable. We could not recommend this more highly."

  • "The taster menu here is the best value of any restaurant I have had in St. Louis. The food is exceptional and thought through with a lot of care. I would list this as the best restaurant of Clayton."

  • "If you are staying at the Ritz Carlton the Crossing is a great choice for dinner. Varied menu of well prepares dishes and a wine list to match. Easy walk from the hotel even in 12 degree weather. Warm environment enhanced by knowledgable and friendly servers."

  • "A party of three, we had a pleasant table in front by the window for Saturday dinner. We ordered from the tasting menu. We were pleased to find that the evenings specials are also available on the tasting menu. We ordered the wine flight along with our meal. The food, wine and service were outstanding. At 6:30PM when we were seated the restaurant was more than half full and it filled up as we dined. Every table seemed to be having great time, providing a nice atmosphere. Our waiter was friendly, knowledgeable and helpful, contributing greatly to the evenings pleasure. We had great meal and great time."

  • "Another spectacular experience at The Crossing. Went with the tasting menus (she The Crossing, me The Premium) with the wine flights. Incredibly delicious and exceeded all expectations, despite having dined here 25-30 times before."

  • "Everything was delicious. We were a party of 4 and all did a variation of the trading menu. Everything was fantastic! We are still talking about this incredible meal. We will be back!"

  • "The price was not justified by the food & experience."

  • "The price for quantity and taste of food was less than desirable. I left hungry and felt I paid for more than I received. The service was great."

  • "My meal was pretty disappointing. I was looking forward to trying this resturant, but the food was just ok and not worth the expense."

  • "Upon making reservation there was nothing about a fixed price menu for the weekend. The menu was less than spectacular and it was very over-priced for the quality of the food. The first few course selections were less than spectacular and what we received was not very good. The entrees we received were very good as was the dessert. Overall experience i would say is not worth the money."

  • "Our group of 4 diners gather annually to celebrate birthdays in a place we consider "special". We were not disappointed . Because the selections and described preparations were so interesting and unusual I decided to try the 4 course menu with slightly smaller portions and that was an excellent choice. I chose the delicious beet salad, scallops, Texas quail (where else would you find that outside of Texas?) and warm chocolate cake with ice cream for desert. All four of us chose different items and loved them. My husband was slightly disappointed with his steak probably because he really prefers char-broiled rather than pan seared beef. Our server was attentive, friendly and knowledgeable. Try the awesome Pomegranate Martini"

  • "The service was excellent, Gus was our waiter and he was there exactly when he needed to be. We had the prix fix menu and the choices were very good but the portions were small. All in all it was a very nice meal, though definitely expensive. Not a restaurant that you visit on a regular basis."

  • "It was my husband's birthady and he said he wanted to go to his favorite place.......The Crossing. No surprise! We have been to The Crossing, and Jimmy Fiala's other restaurant, Acero, many times. We are never disappointed. The food was delicious and the service was friendly. This remains a favorite place for us."

  • "This was a great time to try The Crossing for the first time, and it did not disappoint. The overall experience was excellent. The $25 price fixed three course menu for CRW was wonderful with fine portions. Service and ambiance were great. It's up priced for the neighborhood. But The Crossing delivers. We will be back."

  • "Just because I'm not dressed up, please don't put me next to the restrooms and the kitchen! (I didn't object because I didn't want to impose on my husband and friends.) Just respect your patrons enough to not put a table there."

  • "I went here with my partner for Clayton Restaurant Week--overall it was a fabulous meal for an incredible price. Service was spot on--very attentive and friendly. Everything we ordered was delicious, and we loved the extra touches like the toasts with onion/cheese spread and bread and butter in addition! Definitely would recommend."

  • "My wife and I were in Clayton for two nights which worked out well because it was also Clayton Restaurant Week. After reviewing menus of participating restaurant we chose The Crossing and made reservations through Open Table. The -program offers a three course dinner for $25. With a shared blue cheese suffle to start the evening, it was actually 4 courses. We had the mixed green salad and a interestingly prepared red beet salad. Our entrees were the tilapia and braised beef cheeks that had a very rich flavor. We followed this with a salted caramel flan and a bread pudding. Both pretty good. Very prompt and attentive service. You get a very neighborhood feel with the particulary close quarters at the entry way. Great dinner!"

  • "I came here with a group of 6 for Clayton restaurant week. My whole group had an amazing dining experience that included delicious food and excellent service. I very highly recommend the salted caramel for dessert, I am still thinking about it! I would definitely return."

  • "Attending the Clayton restaurant week I thought their menu sounded the most delicious. We brought friends who had not been there before, and everyone really enjoyed it. The corvina was wonderful, the beef cheeks amazingly tender with a beautiful presentation."

  • "We enjoyed our meal immensely! We were participating in an annual food event, with a pre fixe menu. The food was prepared exactly as described, and was all served in portions identical to the regular menu. I was especially happy with my Corvina, a white fish similar to a sea bass. The Crossing is known for its excellent wine list, but I am a cocktail person. There is a fine selection of spirits for the descriminating cocktailian. Dessert was outstanding. We had a salted caramel pot de creme that was so good we wanted to lick the vessel when we were finished! I definitely will recommend to friends"

  • "We loved our evening at The Crossing. Top notch service, excellent food and a wonderful atmosphere. We look forward to going there again."

  • "I ordered the corvina, which was slightly salty, but my potatoes were not even tepid. My wife's corvina was cold. The last time I ate at the Crossing, my potatoes were cold, and their replacements were also op cold, but the waiter would not have known, except I had to get up out of my chair to tell him. This time I did not want to disrupt our companion couple's meal, so I accepted my fate. I tried the Crossing during Restaurant week in Clayton, and confirmed, for much less money, that I do not like going there."

  • "Our first time at the Crossing won't be our last. The food was excellent, with many choices. I went with the a la carte menu while my 3 companions went with the tasting menu. All of us were quite happy with the amount and quality of the food - my pork tenderloin had incredible flavor and taste. We found the wine list to be somewhat overwhelming but were able to select several wines by the 'glass & a half' that were delicious and easy on our wallet. I read several reviews of this restaurant where the diners complained about the lack of service but our server was attentive, knowledgeable and most pleasant; the food delivery was well timed throughout the evening. For a memorable meal I highly recommend The Crossing."

  • "On our anniversary, my husband & I ordered off the less expensive of the 2 the pre fixe menus. we shared all of each other's choices and found everything excellent or better. We also ordered the wine flight, which featured some lovely wines, but their choices didn't always provide the best accompaniment to our menu choices. Our server was charming, helpful and efficient. Although this was a very unusually expensive (and therefore, rare) dining experience for us, we feel it was worth every penny!"
