Diner Reviews
  • "We had invited our friends for a dinner and turned out to be a great experience. We enjoyed everything from starters to main course and dessert plus the wine of course. Good recommendations by our waiter who did an excellent service despite having to attend to more than 4 other tables."

  • "Great spot for a business lunch meeting. Great food and service. Only problem is the lack of parking!"

  • "We have eaten here a half dozen times and have never been disappointed by the cuisine. I had the seafood tartare for a starter and the trout limay for my entree. Both were divine. The service staff, however, were not attentive. It took 20 minutes to get a menu. The AC was blasting. We asked them to raise the temp a little -- to no avail. My husband, who prefers it cold, was even uncomfortable with the frigid temp. And a pet peeve is when the staff remove one or two plates before all diners are finished with their meal, which makes the slower eaters feel like they must hurry. Perhaps it was an off night, but if the poor service happens again, the restaurant will be off our list."

  • "This is a GREAT restaurant with some very unique dishes. Went out on a limb and tried the veal lengua appetizer and it was delicious. My fiancée ordered the stuffed breaded chicken (Suprema Rustica) and it was amazing- we both loved it. My lamb shanks were also delicious."

  • "Loved the food and the Service! Good music - not too loud. On Saturday nights they actually have a couple that Tango's around the restaurant. The food was so good! It's a bit pricey, but so worth it. Will defiantely go back."

  • "The noise level for us was too loud to hear one another across the round table. The wait staff was great. Each one of us asked for medium doneness for our meats. My lamb chops were medium rare; one steak was medium well and one was medium rare. We did not send any back, though. The taste was good and we were hungry. The diners were mostly business people. I probably would recommend T & M for a business meal but would be hesitant to recommend to friends for a quiet place to eat and talk."

  • "Robert was very attentive to our needs, and offered us great recommendations on our main entrees. We got there just before the rush at 8:00pm on a Saturday, but even during the rush he checked in from time to time. We'll definitely go back and request him if he was working. His knowledge of the menu, and overall personality added to our dining experience at Tango & Malbec."

  • "Great atmosphere.. This was my second time here and enjoyed both times I have visited.. Good friendly service, can't remember our waiter's name this time, but was very helpful.. Good entertainment during our dining experience.. Will highly recommend Tango & Malbec to friends and associates..."

  • "Loved the atmosphere. The service was excellent. We had the Parrilla Como en el 50 and it was great."

  • "I brought my wife here to celebrate her birthday and all I can say is the experience was phenomenal!!! The food, the wine, the service and the environment are all something everybody would definitely enjoy!! Not to mention, I placed a reservation over the website and I included some special requests to make my wife's dinner that much more memorable. The request was met and they went above and beyond to make our dinner night one to remember. As far as the menu, you can not go wrong with any of the Malbec wines and if you like steak, you will really enjoy the Filet Mignon for two!"

  • "As usual, outstanding food and service. Appetizers are killer and the salt encrusted fish entre is unlike anything we have ever had. Truly outstanding! And the wine list is exceptionally well priced. Bottle of Stag's Leap priced at what we pay at Specs!"

  • "Loved this restaurant. They were very attentive, the music was fun but not blaring, the food was fantastic. I will definitely go back!!"

  • "In past visits, the atmosphere has been pleasant and welcoming, the service polite and attentive, the food spot on across the menu... until this experience. I was alone and sat at the bar. Mistake. The bartender wanted nothing to do with me and was not pleasant or helpful the entire meal. She seemed to be put upon each time I asked for anything. My server appeared inexperienced, confused and literally lurked behind me pacing, waiting for me to finish each course. The Good: The cerviche continues to be one of the finest items on the menu, and my butterflyed, grass-fed beef steak was perfect. The Not So Good:The coconut flan, beautifully presented, under-cooked, runny and tasteless. All in all, made for a disappointing experience..."

  • "One of the best happy hours in the Galleria. Certainly the best food! You can't beat the pizzas for $7 and other delicious apps for $8. Try the Vitel Tone - it is my favorite!"

  • "Went there to celebrate a doctorate graduation and though the food was good, we have had better tasting food for the price paid. It was a fun night though, since the food was paired well with a recommended wine, everyone was dressed for the occasion and we had good reason to celebrate."

  • "The ambience is great, you feel like you are in South America and the staff and service are exceptional. The food was great (I had excellent wild boar). They have a great wine list and live tango dancers on Saturday nights. Very romantic spot for a date night. A hidden gem!"

  • "Every time we go to Tango and Malbec we leave well satisfied. It is the best steak in town. There are other steak houses that we like just as well, but his one has the best overall steak in my opinion. The atmosphere is fun with the tango dancers, and when the bar is busy it hops. Great place."

  • "Well, this time I returned with a much larger group. I guess that is why I was so surprised by the bill. Never the less, the are certainly proud of their food and wine. The atmosphere is pleasant and energetic. The food is good, but not worth the prices. The wine list, too, is nice, but again, not worth the prices. I was a little disappointed this visit. The thing that irritated me the most, was not the fact that the wait staff encouraged purchasing the higher priced items on the menu, but the absolutely aggressive effort to up-sell. I understand the desire to get the most from a customer, but I felt like I was at a at car dealership. I will think again before going back."

  • "The empandas were a 50/50 split wife really liked the spinach ones but the beef ones were editable at best. The Akaushi ribeye was incredible. I would say it was one of the best steaks ive ever had! The waiter was pushy, the support staff saved the service experience. We would back. The iced tea was good, I would say pass on the 4 dollar after meal coffee. It wasn't very good or anything special. Overall it was a good experience and we left very full "

  • "group of 6 for a Mother's Day dinner; meats were outstanding quality, prepared to proper level of doneness; live tango dancers complement the Argentinian ambience. Ceviche was good but not outstanding, the empanadas on the other hand were some of the best in the city. Good wine list at reasonable prices with a natural focus on South American wines; house Malbec was excellent! service was very attentive, friendly and zero mistakes. Overall we could not have made a better choice!"

  • "I had really high expectations of this place. So when I came in, I was a little disappointed. The decoration/design of this restaurant, it’s not of a fine, so expensive type of restaurant. Looking at the prices, the menu and the location you would think this place was going to be WOW! The Tango Show was Mediocre. They dance to a little speaker they moved around with them when they changed stage locations. The food was OK. I was not impressed either. Service was very good. We had an Argentinian/Uruguayan server – he was very good and very kind with the kids. "

  • "Meat, meat and more meat, if you're a carnivore you found the right place. The empanadas were fantastic, but the price for lunch was too high, coming in at almost $50 per person with tips."

  • "Appetizer (fried Ricotta cheese) was a bit on the greasy side but ok. The beef Milanese was disappointing and did not finish - soggy and tasteless. Not what I was expecting. Desert (tres leches) was good. Will not visit again."

  • "The food was OK. And the service was good. You will probably have to Valet becuase parking is at a premium in this area. There wasn't much about my experience that was over the top, and if more people went for lunch, it would probably be better."

  • "I had high expectations for this Argentinian restaurant. Made reservations for 4 online. When seated at our table, only 2 water glasses on table. Waiter with attitude was complete turn-off. Food was ok; not good or great. Will not be returning back. Much better options elsewhere - service and food."

  • "I took my bff here for her birthday - she was visiting from North Carolina - and she loved it. The rib-eye steak was perfectly done, the mango salad refreshing and the empanandas were outstanding. She was left with a great sense of the wonderful food in Houston and I was reaffirmed that this restaurant is still one of my favorites in Houston."

  • "This restuarant is my favorite in Houston! Not only is the food incredible, but it is a total package of food, great wine, service and ambiance. The service is not hovering, but there when you need it. A great place to go for a long, leisurely lunch with friends. A top spot to take business clients. Even when they dine around the world, they will recognize this restaurant for its excellence. This is also a spot that is very female-friendly in its service. All around outstanding!"

  • "Tango & Malbec gave us one product instead of the other, and this is completely unacceptable. I grew up in an area in which Jabali was a common hunting meat, and lambs were frequent, so I am 100% sure of what I am saying. It actually gets worse because these guys knew what they were doing; they first came to the table with the Lamb and said that they had made a mistake. Then they came back saying that the exact same dish was the Jabali. They had time to think about it. It was so obvious that we decided not to make an issue out of it and carried the meal with the rest of the family and stay centered and in peace. This is just not acceptable. Someone should do something about it."
