  • "We chose this restaurant based on OpenTable ratings and glad that we did. Based on our server's recommendations, we ordered a nice wheat based draft beer (similar in taste to Blue Moon), Talulla’s Salad, Mezze Platter, Falafel Platter, Kazan Dibi and Creme Chocolate and Turkish coffe. Freshly baked turkish bread was served with roasted red pepper sauce. Everything was incredibly delicious. Nice decor and spacious seating. Good location with outdoor seating for alfresco dining - plenty of parking nearby."

  • "The appetizers were very good as was the sutlac dessert. The Sultan dish used a chicken that was pressed or treated and was a real disappointment. I cannot believe a restaurant like this cannot use a real chicken breast. My wife's sea bream was overcooked so a little bit tough although tasted fine."

  • "I seldom take the time to write reviews, especially given the high expectations that I have for the margin that most restaurants charge. My meal here was an exception. Absolutely delicious food, tremendous service, valet parking and a very competent staff. The place was busy on a Saturday night, and appropriately so. I live in Charlotte, NC and this place is definitely on my "repeat" list. Two of us split two appetizers (liver was awesome) and the meat platter. That was tons of food."

  • "We ordered The appetizer plate with hummus and baba ganoush and other dips and it was wonderful. A hot plate of hummus and a basket of hearty bread started us off right. Probably the best dish was my eggplant baked with tomato sauces and herbs. Chicken kabobs were very juicy and tender. Turkish coffee was a little grainy for my taste but I guess that's what it's about! We would go back to try different things."

  • "Had high expectations, but perhaps they were too high based on reading other reviews. Server was friendly. Atmosphere was good. Food was mediocre. Lamb kebab was extremely undercooked. If there is a term to describe meat that is between raw and rare, then that describes a few pieces of the lamb, while other pieces were thoroughly cooked. The inconsistency makes it seem like a clear error in the meat preparation. Food also took an unusually long time to be served."

  • "I like going to Talulla's. It's the only Turkish restaurant in Raleigh/Durham/Cary area that serves traditional dishes from Turkish cuisine. When I say traditional, I don't mean kebabs and pides. I mean the vegetable dishes (which may also contain a small amount of meat, but still mainly vegetable) you'd enjoy only in Turkey. The menu is rich with good selection of dishes that range from cold/hot mezes (those scrumptious Turkish appetizers) to kebabs, from traditional main courses to pides. It's the best menu I have seen any Turkish restaurant in the Triangle area. Portions are a bit large. but I doubt that it'd be a turn-off with most customers. The atmosphere is lively though it can get a bit noisy. Service is excellent. Must try!"

  • "I have been to this restaurant with people that have been to Turkey, and I have also brought some of my friends that have not been to Turkey. Everyone loves the food here. The bread is amazing, and the variety on the menu is astounding. Try the Manti and/or the Sultan's delight. It is probably not something that you would randomly try, but you will be glad that you did."

  • "My husband and I ate at Talulla's and while it has been almost 10 years since I have eaten there, not much has changed. The food is good, but not spectacular. Being of Middle Eastern descent, I always have high hopes for any Middle Eastern cuisine. I ordered the lamb kabob, which was superbly cooked (tender and full of flavor) but my biggest complaint would be that there was too little lamb and too much "filler." That being said, we both enjoyed dinner there and would recommend it to anyone looking to try Turkish cuisine, just keep in mind it is a little rough around the edges."

  • "Talulla's has been a favorite of ours for when we want something a little different. Their menu of mostly Turkish food always provides a different palate in terms of the seasonings used and the use of ingredients. The food is always well prepared and most important of all it always tastes good! They also have many vegetarian selections on their menu that makes it easy for groups. We went for Valentine's Day, and they had a fixed price menu but had enough choices that everyone could find something they'd love. For an extra fee they also had a wine pairing for each dish that was well done. The only pairing I didn't care for was the dessert wine, which should have been sweeter or more fruit forward in my opinion. But the desserts were great!"

  • "I went to Talulla's for Valentines dinner with my family, they had the prefix menu and we all ordered different items. I tried all of them and to our disappointment the food served was subpar. Chicken was like rubber, lamb had too much fat and chewy.... sauces didn't taste good at all!!! We all were very excited to go to this place but after the dinner we( group of four) all said this place is not good at all...lots of hype!!! Won't go back!!!"

  • "Went to Talulla's for Valentine's Day because most restaurants in the area were full. By sitting at the bar, we could order off the regular menu, as restaurants featured a special menu for this day. What a wonderful dining experience. I kept saying to my date, my tastebuds are exploding. Starting with the bread and the dip, wish I could tell you what it was, and a hummus appetizer, this was a very pleasant dining experience. As a main course, we shared an eggplant dish that an eggplant lasagna of sorts, but with feta, and a lamb shishkabob. Combined with a glass of wine, every bite was just exquisite. Of all the restaurants in Chapel Hill, this one I will be visiting again. A very unique dining experience with quality."

  • "I have eaten here before and the food and service has always been very good. Sadly, I can't say the same about my most recent trip. When we arrived for our reservation the only table they had open was a booth in the bar. The booth was cute and at first it was a little romantic. After 15 minutes of sitting in the booth by ourselves the charm faded away. When a server finally arrived we were rushed to order our wine and appetizers. The good news is our drinks and appetizers arrived quickly. The bad news is that was our only visit for 30+ minutes. We were going to have dinner but instead we had a single glass of wine and a few appetizers- that's it. The poor service turned a 100$ visit into a 30$ visit."

I ordered the whole fish which turned out to be ok but I regret not having chosen the more distinctly Turkish fare. My wife had one of their weekend-only dishes and that was the winner. Rice pudding was better than average but we will try something different next time. The ambiance is great. The rugs on the wall are beautiful pieces of art and help to keep the noise level down. Service was excellent and the price was reasonable."

  • "It's our first time to the place but not with Mediterranean food. The selection they lined up for restaurant week all sounded exquisite, so it was a matter of taste. For starters, the yaprak dolmasi and the mucver were flavorful and not too heavy. my date selected the sebzeli musakka, I went with the beef sultan's delight. Musakka is definitely recommended to all vegetarians. My sultan's delight is a delight. The beef was tender, the sauce was delicious. I would have asked for more of the sauce if I could. For dessert, we got their baklava and kazan dibi. Both were good but nothing extraordinary. Over all, we're content with what we received that night and we're definitely coming back to try their other food."

  • "Absolutely delicious food...I'd put it up against any restaurant in the area. Every time I go I'm torn between having my old favorites and trying something new because everything I try quickly becomes another favorite. My favorite cold mezze would be the grape leaves. My favorite hot mezze is the manti, but the falafel and veal liver come in a close second place. All of the entrees are delicious, but I especially like the Sultan's Delight. You also can't go wrong with dessert. There's a sweet and savory cheese pastry that I sometimes dream about. The staff is extremely friendly and makes you feel like family. There's an extensive wine list, but the best value can be found in the Turkish wine selections on the back page."

She's telling other travelers to not miss Talullas when they are in the area. Lucky us! it's right in our neighborhood so we will visit often."
