Tallulah Crafted Food and Wine Bar is a casual upscale restaurant, which shares its name with the small Louisiana town of Tallulah, serving notable, indigenous cuisine from around Louisiana, while featuring house-crafted menu items that interpret local flavors in fresh and unique ways. Chef Andy Papson, the hotel's Executive Chef, has been entrusted with overseeing the culinary operations for Tallulah, as well as those of the new Renaissance Baton Rouge hotel. Tallulah serves breakfast, lunch and dinner and includes an outstanding wine bar nestled in an intimate setting that offers guests an extensive selection of fine wines by the glass. Wine lovers can enjoy sampling Tallulah's extensive selection of fine wines with their dinner, in a cozy setting filled with intimate seating areas or at the bar where butter-soft leather bar stools beckon guests to sit, sip and stay awhile.   • "I never realized this restaurant was in this hotel until an offer was made via 225 Best Eats. The brunch was very good and the decor was impressive. I will definitely be back to experience some of the wines that are on tap. But the $3 bottomless mimosas did the trick!"

  • "The food at Talllulah's is always good but the location inside the hotel is it's downfall. It's basically open to foot tragic and lobby noise. Never sit at the front of the space. It's loud. Service was very slow the night we went but they made up for it by comping our bottle of wine. We'll be back but I really wish it had its own space in the hotel. "

  • "We went there for brunch. Made reservations for 12:30 although reservations definitely weren't needed, at least not this particular Sunday. Unfortunately, they were out of crawfish tails and so we couldn't order our first choice off the menu but the choices we did make were delicious. I had NY Strip and Eggs Sardou which honestly, was probably the best brunch item I've ever tasted. Absolutely perfect combinations of ingredients and flavors. She had the crabcake with poached egg and hollaindaise sauce. Hers was very good as well. The bottomless bloody mary's for $5 are a great deal and they also offered bottomless mimosas for $3. For $45 pre-tip, it was a heck of a value. Will definitely go back. "

  • "Expected the brunch buffet to be in the restaurant but the success of this format prompted the move to the hotel ballroom. It was outstanding to say the least with great assortment of food covering 1/2 of the ballroom with a buffet fit for a Queen for Mother's Day. Mimosa's and Bloody Mary's included in the buffet along with a great display of desserts. The band booked for the event was outstanding with a few couples dancing. The highlight of the day was the little girl dressed in her Sunday finest passing out long stemmed roses of assorted colors. My mother was so impressed and we will surely reserve again next year. The $42 price tag was steep for those that don't drink or for the kiddos between 12 - 21 that couldn't drink. "

  • "At this hotel - didn't feel like venturing out. The wine list is as promised - extensive and has more than a few good ones to choose from. And the menu is also at least as good as expected - a few items were really good like the Char grilled oysters. Even the rack of lamb was fine, while the tuna tartare was bland. Overall worth a visit. "

  • "The Valentine's Dinner was a pre-set menu with excellent choices. The price was very reasonable especially for the quantity and quality of the food. The only thing that some of the people at my table commented about was the volume level from the band. It seemed to be a bit too loud or maybe we were sitting too close to the band. Either way it interfered with our conversation several times."

  • "I had read many reviews of Tallulah, many of which touted poor, slow service and over-cooked food. The wife and I went on Valentine's Day, and had a limited menu. The blue cheese wedge salad was very good, as was the hearts of palm salad. We both had bone-in filet mignon - and both were cooked correctly (mine medium, wife's medium rare). Pretty large wine list. Eating/seating area is much like a large bar sitting area with no doors anywhere and it does give a direct view of the bar. It was loud in part because of the setting and the hard floors. Would try again for a regular menu night."

  • "As the restaurant is within a hotel and not segregated from the general hotel area, it has a special ambiance to it. Food was excellent except for one dish which was served completely cold. Management did apologize and offered a replacement dish, but we had to decline for time reasons. Unfortunately for us, there was a not too talented solo artist performing just outside the dining area, which didn't help improving the ambiance..."

  • "For starters OpenTable did not secure our reservation and when I called to "double check", I ended up making them myself. Once at the restaurant, we were completely ignored by the bartender upon arrival. No host/hostess present. Two of the main entrees ordered,at our table of 6, were not in stock. Told waiter of severe wheat allergy- he completely disregarded the allergy when offering/assisting with ordered items. We had an allergic reaction, in the group, later that evening. Every bite of dinner was under seasoned and/or cold. Food had to be sent back. Full price was charged and was ridiculously high considering the low quality of our dinner. I was so embarrased that Tallulah had been my choice of "new place to take the group"!"

  • "My advice to Tallulah (a supposed Louisiana restaurant) Hire native Louisianians to cook food that is indigenous to LOUISIANA! Nothing I ordered was edible. Just ONE example: Gumbo is a roux based soup native to Louisiana. Gumbo IS NOT an extremely thick burned gravy substance. Chicken and Andouille sausage gumbo should have Andouille in it! The thick tar like substance that I was served only contained tiny bits of burned crusty chicken. It was deplorable! The hostess was also our server. We only saw her twice the entire hour we were there. Only one other party came to dine during that time and they waited for 10 min for her to come to seat them. We had to ask for complimentary bread!"

  • "Our food was very good except the woefully inadequate cheesecake that tasted like cheap grocery store box version. The problem was the service,the two hour time frame for a three course three entree menu,and the poor response of the manager after we complained. Several tables were seated and served and finished their meals while we continued to wait. The manager repeatedly said he would fix the problem but did not. After we sent our room temperature coffee back and ate some of our tasteless dessert, we waited twenty minutes for our check. At that point we wrote our own bill(honest and fair) and left the cash on the table. Our waiter seemed to be doing all that he could but it was the worst dining experience we have had in years...."

  • "This was my second attempt at Tallulah and couldn't have had a worse time. My reservation was lost and we had to sit in the bar at a very small table. Then my first dish, caprese salad was terrible, missing any sort of basil and possibly the worst tomatoes I've eaten. My main dish, osso bucco with spaetzle & kale was equally disappointing. There was NO seasoning on any part of the dish and my spaetzle was just soggy dough. I did enjoy the bone marrow but how hard is that to mess up?? The menu sounds good but the execution is non-existant. I will not be back eventhough this place is 5 seconds from my house and I wouldn't suggest anyone ever eat there again."

  • "Too noisey for me. The food was very good but I don't like seeing into the lobby. There must have been something going on the night we were there because the bar had a loud noisy crowd. May have been a better experience if the drinkers weren't talking and laughing out so loud. There needs to be more closure in the restaurant from the bar. Will try at lunch time next time."

  • "Celebrated 18th anniversary on a Monday night in Nov - the restaurant was sparsely occupied, which was nice for our occasion. We started with the Truffle Fries; hey had a nice flavor but nothing special. The drinks recommended were delish - pear flower and sweet lemon martini. My husband ordered Osso Bucco and I the Seared Duck Breast. We could not pick a favorite - both were absolutely delicious; the kale and mashed sweet potatoes were perfect accompaniments. Not the most romantic setting, restaurant opens out to the hotel walkway. However, decor is quite creative and does overlook pool, which is absolutely gorgeous - thrilled with the makeover of this previous eyesore and would definitely treat ourselves to a meal at Tallulah again!"

  • "This was our "give them a second chance" visit and we will not be going back. The food is OK but very overpriced compared to quality/cost elsewhere in Baton Rouge. The server was very nice but neglected us for long periods even tho' there was only 1 other table to cover in the whole restaurant. The food took a long time to get to us.... Sorry for bad review but after 2 visits, I think I know about this restaurant."

  • "A beautiful setting but the food is overpriced as is most "hotel" food is. We arrived at 11 am and didn't receive our food until 45 minutes later. There was only one table of 6 so the kitchen really dropped the ball. Our waiter was also very inexperienced and inattentive for long periods. We didn't see him for about 20 minutes before we got up and asked about our food. They got our request for medium and rare switched in 2 different entrees. The water that was brought out at the beginning had a cloudy look to it so we asked for new water. The manager did comp our meals without us even asking so we will return and give them a second chance."

  • "initial service was very slow -- once we were seated by the hostess, it was almost 10 minutes before a food server came to take our order, and only then because I stopped the hostess and asked her to please send someone to take our order. The restaurant was not busy, only 3 other tables had guests, and there were plenty of staff moving around doing things, just none of them seemed interested in tending to us."

  • "Food was delicious, we ordered the duck and the salmon. Mixed olive appetizer could have been better, came with limited bread. Service seemed to take longer than it should have, we found ourselves waiting for the server to pick up the bill from our table for about 5 minutes. Besides that, overall nice atmosphere and good food. Entrees ~$25-$30"

  • "I surprised my boyfriend with a brunch there on a visit to Baton Rouge, because he is a Tallulah native. He was blown away there there was a nice restaurant with his hometown's name. The food was a bit limited at the brunch hour we came, but the standard buffet was open for breakfast foods only. I had the crab cake sandwich that was very tasty with only a little non-crab filler (common annoyance with crab cakes). They have a very nicely decorated bar area that looks like it would be an awesome happy hour place later on in the day. I hope to eat there again soon."

  • "The food was a nice mix of expected plates along with different takes on common products. I do think that the "plate" selection is the best part of the menu. I would really like to see this expanded. The bread pudding desert was OK but a bit dry (thank goodness for the sauce). I did appreciate the waiter's interest in our experience, but it was a bit excessive at times. The restaurant decor is fine. Unfortunately, being in a hotel, people dressed in various ways (including bathing suits with or without shirts walked by the restaurant. This detracted a bit from the environment but really cannot be easily corrected."
