Pork ribeye was somewhat over cooked and slightly dry however. Service as always was attentive and accommodating. Ambiance and decor remain first rate as well."

  • "There is a reason Sweet Basil's has won the Best of Vail many years in a row, great food prepared exquisitely. Consistently producing the finest meals in a restaurant town is not an easy accomplishment, but this restaurant has performed year after year with excellence. If you are in the Vail Valley, definitely worth the time to dine at Sweet Basil's. If you do plan on a trip, make a reservation in advance, or take your chances at the bar, because this restaurant is always full from 6-8:45 every night."

  • "Great setting, cozy atmosphere but...table was against a small service station so I listened more to waiter chat than my husband. Entrees were nice and while the presentations were beautiful the monk was under-seasoned, bit overcooked and just warm. I appreciate small plates and finer dining but the portions of fish were rather small. I held off on a wine order until I chose my entree but the experience lacked making the desire to drink less appealing. Waitress was basically an order taker (but she was friendly). I manage a restaurant in a 5 diamond resort and appreciate being led through my experience. I couldn't decide on an appetizer and nothing was suggested. My husband had an excellent ceaser salad however."

  • "We have been coming to the Vail/Beaver Creek area for skiing for several years now and Sweet Basil has always been on our list of "best places" to dine. No disappointment again this year. The Braised goat with mushroom malfatti was not only creatively presented in the shape of a wreath, but even more tasty! The cioppino had such complex flavors that when you close your eyes, you can feel the sea and surroundings. We cannot wait for our next visit to this area to repeat the experience!"

  • "I've been eating here for 18+ years, but this could be the last for a while. Not only did the waiter ignore my two requests to not rush the appetizers (we barely had time to receive cocktails before the first course arrived), but the food came out tepid at best. I think the restaurant is trying too hard to make the food LOOK nice, and all the prep that has to be done to add numerous sauces, fruit pieces, and whatnot (once the actual food item is cooked) takes so long that the food cools while being built and basically comes out cold."

  • "Went for dinner with husband and daughter. We all enjoyed our appetizers and entrees. The server said the bread is made by an affiliated company/restaurant --and it's delicious - great flavor and texture. Like most restaurants in Vail, the prices are on the high side and the portions are on the small side, but the ingredients are high quality and the dishes are very flavorful and well prepared. It's not a large restaurant, so it's nice for a special dinner or romantic evening too."

  • "I was pleased with my experience, but felt like it did not live up to the hype. The food was very unique and very good, but the options were pretty limited. My biggest complaint was the atmosphere. We were sat at a table that was a bench on one side and a chair on the other. There were tables all side by side so privacy was nonexistent. The sticky toffee cake was awesome! However, we ate at Mountain Standard as we'll and would recommend it before I recommend this."

  • "This place was highly recommended by many and touted as the best place in Vail. It was very good, but I think somewhat overrated. Perhaps my expectations were unrealistic given the enthusiastic recommendations and accolades. The location is fantastic, right in the heart of Vail Village, as was the view of Gore Creek. The service was average and not as good as other similar places we dined. Same goes for the food. While good, Terra Bistro was significantly better (also in Vail Village) as was Montawk (in Lionshead). I'd go back, but only if I was going to the other two on the same trip. Their food and service is better and they are a better value. The only thing Sweet Basil had on them is location."

The one problem is that my husbands burger was not rare as he had ordered. My fish was excellent. We sat at the back window looking over the creek and enjoyed the view."

  • "I love an evening of memorable food, drink and service with family and friends. Sweet Basil was perfect in every way. The drinks to start were delicious, from there we were not rushed to order, our salad to share was split on two plates and the main course was not only beautiful but delicious. I had the fish with beats and it was fantastic. Several wines were recommended and I went with a $65 2006 Rioja which didn't break the bank. Very yummy and I appreciate good wine for a fair price. I look forward to another chance to eat at Sweet Basils"

  • "Service was good but very rushed. I think they like to turnover tables quickly. Appetizers came out 5 minutes after being ordered and the crab soup was barely luke warm. Foies Gras was delicious, also not very hot. I'm concerned they were reheating leftovers and it was only 6:00. They have a great children's menu. Unfortunately, my son couldn't eat his fried shrimp platter due to it consisting of almost entirely salt. Not sure how that happened in such a nice restaurant."

  • "We have made it a point to dine at Sweet Basil every year when we visit Vail, and have always considered it one of Vail's best, with exceptional and creative food and excellent helpful waitstaff. Not so this time. The food was OK, but certainly not exceptional, and the service ewas friendly but not helpful --- no descriptions of the entrees, etc. Wine steward wanted to take a wine order before we had menus, and we had to ask for them. Perhaps none of this matters, since this restaurant is still one of the busiest in Vail, although seems to cater mostly to the hip local crowd, while also putting up with tourists.! We will take off our list."

  • "This is one of the finest restaurants I have been to at Vail. The service was great. Not pretentious or stuffy. Really a great place if you can be lucky enough to get a reservation. Book early to get the 6-8 PM slots. Fairly expensive but great cuisine is not cheap. The ingredients were the best. Loved the Ciabatta bread. Had the pork ribeye for myself. Excellent. The scallops were perfectly done. Foie gras was delicious. Highly recommend."

  • "My husband and I are in Vail on our honeymoon, and Sweet Basil is always a must-go for us when we visit. We told the restaurant we were here for our honeymoon, and they were exceptional: We were greeted with a glass of champagne, and dessert had Congratulations! written on the plate. I have never had a bad meal at Sweet Basil - the food is consistently amazing. And the wine list is excellent! The sommelier helped us find a bottle that went with my chicken and my husband's buffalo steak perfectly."
