A word from Summit House Restaurant
For Centuries the English Inn has earned a great reputation for Friendly faces, cozy rooms and cheery firesides. As soon as guests come to the Inn, the charming host and hostesses run to greet them. In front of a crackling fire one can partake of good hearty fare - the tankard is always full - the spit hung with roasting beefs - and a table heaped with sweets and such. The Inn keepers of the Summit House were inspired by the custom to create a hospitable place where friends could meet to eat, drink and delight in the views of North Orange County's countryside. To one and all, welcome!Continued

Diner Reviews
  • "My sister and I decided to treat ourselves to a nice lunch before she moved away out of state. We were greeted by friendly hostess and seated promptly. Was given a preference on seating and we choose a table by the window. The view was great but would be even better at night. The wait staff was also prompt and courteous. The waitress recommended the halibut and that is what I decided to try. It was moist and well seasoned. My sister had the crab cakes. They were also delicious. Our lunch was delicious and very relaxing. I would definitely recommend this restaurant to anyone."

  • "My husband took me here to celebrate my 30th birthday. To start I had a glass of wine with the artichoke hearts. After that we each ordered the filet mignon. It was like cutting into butter. It was so delicious! The au gratin potatoes it came with were amazing, and of course the creamed corn was to die for. Everything was beyond better than I thought it could be. It became my husbands favorite restaurant!"

  • "Brought my wife here for her birthday last night. BRAVO and a huge HIGH-FIVE to everyone at Summit House!!! We had a fantastic prime rib dinner! The staff was friendly and helpful. Our waitress, Valerie, was absolutely exemplary. The prime rib was the best of the best! I just can't say enough about our experience at the Summit House. Great job to everyone!"

  • "This was to be a special occasion. I specifically ordered a window booth. What we got was a booth adjacent to the kitchen. Constant flow of traffic.dirty dishes, aisles always busy and no sense of ambience."

  • "It was a fun experience. I surprised my parents by taking them here and they were so impressed. We had a great time. I only wished it was a little quieter, but that's not something you can control."

  • "A friend from Michigan was returning to her home the next day. We took her to the Summit House because the view is outstanding and the food is always above average as is the service. We were not disappointed. She loved every moment and the sky was clear and the view great."

  • "This is our 2nd time at the Summit House and we were NOT disappointed. The French Onion Soup is almost as good as mine. The fish was cooked to perfection. The Prime Rib was moist and delicious. High fives to the chefs! It was a clear night and we could see LA. We will definitely come again!"

  • "A wonderful selection of entrees and a fixed price menu that keeps changing - wonderful food and staff to boot. A North Orange County gem."

  • "The look & feel is beautiful and romantic with a gorgeous view. It was very cozy and warm with a crackling fireplace in the lobby as you come in. We were celebrating our daughter & husband's 10-year anniversary and the wait staff was very friendly and took care of our every need with a special treat for their celebration. However, the prime rib (their specialty) wasn't quite the quality that we had expected and my husband's serving was a bit over-done. One of their other specialties, their creamed corn, was delicious and plentiful."

  • "One of two restaurants in Fullerton that is a nice place to dine. An enjoyable experience not loud and rowdy like the downtown. Food is excellent and service is wonderful."

  • "This was our second visit in about 6 months. Very good, as was the one before. The service was excellent especially for a very busy time (late Sunday afternoon, early Sunday evening). Our party of four sampled a variety of dishes and all were very good, although not excellent. The Seaside Sampler is to be recommended as a table wide appetizer. My friend's halibut was excellent. The short ribs were also good as was my wife's prime rib. My lamb shank was a bit disappointing because it had less flavor than I would have expected and seemed a bit overcooked. Nevertheless we will return. The service was superb with two wait staff (one was being trained) and my note that it was a birthday celebration was well observed."

  • "Our party arrived at Summit House 15 minutes early and so we walked around the beautiful grounds surrounding the restaurant. We then sat inside the waiting area and talked until our hostess escorted us to our table next to the large windows overlooking the city. We were asked what we wanted to drink and menus were placed in our hands. Our drinks never came and we had to ask 3 times for them. We then placed our orders and enjoyed the delicious bread while waiting for the main course. Two in our party ordered the prime rib, one ordered the petit filet, and the last ordered the Chilean Sea Bass. All of the food was cooked to perfection and tasted wonderful. Then came a desert for the birthday girl in the group with a lit candle. Superb!"

  • "An elegant restaurant that I always pick for special occasions. Excellent food especially the John Dory. It is so unique and nothing compares to the Summit House preparation of this dish. The view is outstanding too if it is a clear night."

  • "I used OpenTable for a dinner reservation at Summit House. I had been to Summit House a few months earlier and was very impressed. This time, it was for a birthday celebration for a party of 4. In the 'notes' section of the online reservation form, I added "a table by the window would be nice - this is for a birthday'. We were seated by the window and the server said "welcome to the Summit House - whose birthday is it?" She presented a birthday card signed by all of the restaurant staff - what a classy touch. Everything about our experience was outstanding. We'll be back, that's for sure."

  • "Finally made it to Summit House with my wife and what a great time we had. We dined with my parents for our anniversary/birthday and enjoyed it completely. Started with drinks in the bar where unfortunately the service was a little below par but the ambience was great. Moved to dinner in the main dining room with a window seat looking south over the landscape. Service was great, food was fantastic, wine list is moderately priced with very good selections. Overall a fantastic night and we definitely will return."

  • "We went for my moms birthday. They made her feel very special. Great food. Great service. Yummy drinks. My 5 year old came with us and they were kid friendly too even though it's a high end restaurant. Wonderful evening all around."

  • "As the title indicates, the service was impeccable. Our anniversary, they took us to a high booth with a view. There was an anniversary card on the table signed by all employees. What a nice touch. I had heard the salmon was fabulous and my husband loves lamb. The lamb shank was tender and falling off the bone, but he didn't feel the sauce complemented the lamb, it was rather sweet. My first love is salmon and I know how to cook it so it's tender and melts in your mouth. This dish was not. The salmon was a bit dry and the bed of spinach it sat on was about 5 times saltier than it should have been. It wasn't edible. However, this hopefully is a rare occurrence as I've heard wonderful things about their food!"

  • "My husband, daughter, son & his wife joined me for this special dinner. Right from the moment we walked in, we were greeted by friendly staff and escorted to our table with a view! There was even a Birthday card on the table for me signed by the staff! What a thoughtful touch. I was impressed that the waitress and bartender were familiar with a cocktail called "Perfect Rob Roy" and it was quite tasty. Everyone was thrilled with their dinner selections and dessert! I was also quite pleased with my birthday dessert! This was our first time dining at The Summit House but it definitely won't be the last."

  • "Always passed by and never knew it was a restaurant. I wanted to bring my husband there for a nice dinner before his birthday. The excellent service we received definitely will make me want to come back. Our server Joel was super nice, checked up on us often and was really friendly. The nice card they left at the table for my husband's birthday was a nice treat. For me personally, the filet that's 28 days aged has to be one of the best I've ever had. It was extremely tender and juicy. The cream of corn was excellent as was their brussels sprouts. We also ordered their truffle fries definitely was happy with their food, service and ambiance. I view was beautiful overlooking the city in Fullerton. We definitely will be back."

  • "Upscale restaurant with city lights from Fullerton to the coast. Chow was very good. Atmoshere was similar to dining at the Ahwanhee, but not as large of a dining room, which also incorporates a live piano music theme but no city lights iin Yosemite."

  • "Went there for my birthday with my wife and have no regrets. Great service and phenomenal food. My only gripe is the price, there are other local places that offer this quality food for a less money. But then again those places do not have the view of the Summit House, you are definitely paying for location and view. None-the-less, I would definitely recommend to anyone for a special occasion and will probably be back myself in the future."

  • "They sat us right at our reservation time. It was nice with the fire lit and you can hear the piano playing in the main dining room. They sat us near the window as I requested and they gave my mom a sweet birthday card. The only thing that was a little disappointing, was that where we sat we could no longer hear the piano...but the room was still nice and quiet with a great view. We ordered cocktails, the baked brie for an appetizer, the blue cheese wedge for the salad, and the filet with lobster tail for our entree. Everything was amazing, although I could do without the wine reduction on the filet. Our server Annie was sweet & attentive, and although our bill was very hefty, I would return on a Wednesday for the prime rib special."

  • "We had a very nice lunch with our birthday group! Actually, we eat there often. Our waitress was VERY good and took good care of us. We even got sliders which they don't do for lunch anymore. But, the seafood type of salad is no longer on the lunch menu:( Neither is the crab appetizer. Oh, well. Change is good."

  • "Went to Summit House to celebrate our anniversary. Got there a little early for a 5:15 reservation on a Tuesday and were seated promptly. Very few people in the dining room at that time, but filled up surprisingly fast. Jennifer took good care of us. Nice wine and beer selection. The fresh baked bread, the lobster tail and the rib eye were all delicious as was the creamed corn. Plenty of food. The complimentary dessert and the card in honor of our anniversary were a nice touch too. While it is a bit pricey for a regular night out, it's a great place to splurge for a special occasion."
