  • "We were celebrating a wedding anniversary. What a fabulous setting for a special occasion. Everything was top notch...the food was amazingly delicious, the wait staff attentive, but not hovering, the wine selection, with help from the staff, was perfect, setting beautiful. We had early reservations, during which time the noise level was quiet, but it was not dead. There was still a liveliness, but we could talk and hear ourselves and others. As it got later, the noise level did increase. Thank you for a wonderful evening!"

  • "The waiter was great, food was OK, but overall atmosphere very rushed, tense, lots of pretense. We selected some breads to take home and asked the waiter's assistant to wrap it up. At home, upon opening the take outbag, the bread items we seleted were not there, there were some other items we never asked to take home in the first place. I took my mom out for her Birthday and wanted to make the restaurant experience special, but it did not happen."

  • "We went for a supper on a Sunday night. As everything looked good we went with the Californian Tasting menu. The tastes of the food were good and the service was good. The 2" bone in my Black Cod was unappreciated and the dessert with both mine and my wife's souffles collapsed was not what I extected. At the time we had no visit from management, no apology and no compensation on our bill. Not what I expected. After writing a letter to management I did receive a moderate compensation for my troubles and an invitation to be treated better next time. I would return and expect the service to be better. At a Michelin star resteraunt, I shouldn't have to visit twice to experience top end service. Good thing I'm not a certified reviewer!"

  • "We had a later reservation on a Fri (9:15 pm) so we were after the crowd. This allowed us a nice relaxing time for a cocktail in the bar with plenty of space since it is a small area. We were seated just inside the patio area and it was a nice spot and had a very good waiter and his assistant was around just as needed. Food was very good but is pricey. The wine list is tbe same but wine list is extensive with aged wines you do not see at all restaraunts. Go and enjoy know you will pay prob $250 for food for two plus be beverages. We would return!!!"

  • "This was a beautifully prepared dinner marred by rushed and rude sevice. We have eaten at Spago on many occasions and have always been pleased with food and service. Not so on this occasion. Our waiter tried to rush us through courses and brought out dinner before we had a chance to select our wine for that course. Ruined a wonderful dining experience. I will think twice before returning."

A bit noisy but still in a good way, we did not have to raise our voice to talk. Open kitchen is always great. Will certainly come back if we travel to LA again."

  • "Although we no longer live in LA, we continue to visit Spago for very special occasions, and we have never been disappointed. The food is innovative without being over the top, the service is just perfect (attentive without being fussy) and the ambiance entertaining. We tend to sit in the covered outdoor patio where normal conversation levels are possible. There isn't really another restaurant in the US that we enjoy as much."

  • "Margeurite was out server and from the moment she approached the table she was a delight. She accomodated our requests expertly, handled the wine pairing for various courses and a smile never left her face. She made us feel like we were her only table all night even though she was handling three others. The food was exquisite. We started off menu with Tuna cones. They are a favorite every time I visit Spago. Our second course was the tagliatelle with a parmagian cream sauce and black truffles. I finished my meal with the rack of lamb. Everything was perfectly cooked and presented. Food as art that tasted great with right sized portions."

  • "Our wait staff doted on us from the moment we arrived. We were seating in the outdoor area right next to the fireplace. The night air was cool, the fireplace was warm, the wine list was spectacular, the food was amazing! I would highly suggest the tuna tartare for an appetizer and the black bass entree. The entire evening was magical . . . not inexpensive . . . but magical!"

  • "Beginning with the bread and ending with dessert, this meal was perfection. The restaurant is tasteful and trendy. The wait staff and servers were all very welcoming and helpful with the menu. We were lucky enough to have Wolfgang Puck himself stop by our table and say hello. I would be a regular at this restaurant if I lived in the area."

  • "Looked forward to this experience for many years !! Finally decided to try it to celebrate my D-I-L's birthday. I consider myself and husband "foodies", we appreciate a great restaurant; it must have an equal balance of great food and service. There were 4 of us, each one cocktail and we brought a special bottle of wine, which we were snubbed for doing so and overcharged for corkage! I really felt that we were not treated well at all, and for the money we spent, even with very little alcohol, Bottom line, convincing my hubby to make this splurge was not my best decision! Highlight, hugging Wolfgang on my way out. Didn't express disappointment as not to damper his night! $800 later! Money not well spent. :-( SORRY for the long review!"

The portion sizes were larger than I remembered and the service during a busy lunch time was somewhat slow though always gracious and attentive. The menu selections successfully balanced taste and presentation beautifully. After so many years on the L.A. scene, Spago remains a place worth visiting again and again."

  • "Solid execution at this landmark Beverly Hills Spago but the food lacked intensity and passion. Nothing to get excited about and inspire us to return. The service was haphazard. We loved the seaweed butter and requested another serving twice but it never arrived. We also wanted to order a 2nd bottle of wine and requested the wine menu again...also two separate times...but neither our server or bidder brought it to us. Finally our server brought the wrong bottle and we eventually had to reserve some of our veal chop on a bread plate just to try our requested wine with it...One bite of cold veal to pair with our red really didn't work out very well. No apologies or even concern for the mediocre inattentive service. Too bad. Quite sad."

  • "California themed tasting menu is well thought out. Would recommend going with Sommollier picked some flute as adds a little more fun and interest to experience. Squab is initially presented with big piece of drift wood. Makes sense only if you more that this is the wood that the squad is roasted over. The smoked lamb while interesting was not really my thin, and would have preferred to get the full flavor of the lamb sans smoke. Fresh peas in ravioli dish were outstanding. Bread on offer is also top notch. Add the thousand layer dessert to your menu and share as it provides a very satisfying ending."

  • "Twenty dollars for a bowl of soup, no matter how tasty, and it was that is a bit too much even for a Beverly Hills restaurant. Another $12 for a side of English Peas that were not that good. One Jack Daniels $14 and on and on for a total with tip and parking of $275 for two of us! It was a special occasion for us,however, our 57th Anniversary so it was worth the cost to be in such beautiful surroundings. Personally, should I win the Lotto, I may return but otherwise there are too many fine restaurants in the So. BayLong Beach area to suit our pallets and our pocket books. And, a lot closer to home.
