A word from Sons & Daughters
Sons & Daughters is influenced by the seasons, unique elements of their garden, and the surrounding bay area. The approach to the food is thoughtful, delicate, and displays clarity of ingredients. Our tasting menu is 98 dollars.
The garden is located on one acre in Los Gatos, California and contains expansive boxes, a greenhouse and an orchard. The restaurant’s garden grows a variety of flowers, greens, herbs, vegetables, fruits and snails specifically for Sons & Daughters.
The wine program is unique, with wines that balance, enhance and pair the light and playful food. The 28 seat dining room is welcoming and wraps around a lively open kitchen which plays an active role in the dining experience.
Thank you.

Diner Reviews
  • "Very high quality food along the lines of Chez Panisse: letting the excellence of the local produce shine through, and not overly-prepared (i.e. no "emulsions" or "foams")."

  • "Deliciously frsh, colorful, and inventive food Mellow, subdued atmosphere...perfect choice and loudness of backround music Amazing attentive service. One of the best overall dining experiences I have ever had in san Francisco..and I've been to "the best"."

  • "We came for our anniversary, the staff was lovely and the ambiance served us well. The food, delicate on our plates and artistically arranged was a powerhouse of flavors. Although the portions were petite, we were completely satisfied and surprised by the originality of each serving. Romantic and intelligent with explosive flavor is what our experience delivered, (after thought, I just described my boyfriend!) So it was the perfect place to dine :)) Thank you.."

  • "Been here 3x and consistently delicious and service is top notch! The menu changes regularly but on the last visit some of the highlights: -roasted baby beets with vadouvan spices and mustard speed. what a wonderful blend of flavors -chicken consomme with yolk, chicken, and fried chicken skin. i LOVE fried chicken skin. -NY steak, padron peppers, and chanterelle mushrooms There's no going wrong with Sons and Daughters. Definitely fit for a special night."

  • "My wife and I enjoyed a wonderful anniversary dinner. The combinations of ingredients and small plates gave us the opportunity to try so many different ingredients and taste combinations. All dishes were exquisitely prepared and beautifully presented by the professional staff."

  • "one of our favorite restaurants - always top notch food and attention/service. The people who work there clearly want their diners to have a great experience and they make you feel quite welcome. There are more expensive and fancier restaurants - but we always return here 5-6 times a year as overall it's hard to beat."

  • "We wanted to experience a different restaurant in San Francisco from that of our favorites, so with that said, we made a reservation at Son's & Daughters. Well, almost $400 for the two of us (including wine pairings and gratuity) would have been fine, if the experience was memorable. However, this was far from memorable. We spoke to one another about our thoughts of dinner later that evening and we both concluded . . . we should have went to Gary Danko, Acquerello, or Jardiniere to name a few !!! The meal was just O.K. and having to wait 15 to 20+ minutes (for the next course) after plates were cleared (3+ hours for 7 courses) was a little much. The staff were very nice, but amateur at best for what this restaurant is trying to pull off."

  • "There isn't anything bad I could say about our experience here. They accommodated me as a vegetarian WITH wine pairings. . . and it was perfect. Every bite was unique and so well thought out. Interesting flavor combinations. The homemade breads were delicious. It's nice to know that the ingredients come from their own farm in Santa Cruz. The service was impeccable, as well - it didn't feel stuffy or overbearing. We had such a wonderful time! We will absolutely be back!"

  • "I was slightly disappointed for a 1 star Michelin restaurant. We were celebrating our 40th anniversary. Nothing wrong with the food in general, but the amuse bouches lacked, not very innovative, come on, 3 different pieces of bread?? All was in black, the tablecloths, the wait staff all in black, the place is small and dark already, it did not help we were seated at a table way in the back near the stairs, where light was even worse and right next to the stairs where the wait staff constantly goes back and forth. I had looked forward to be able to see what was going on in the kitchen as I had read about but from our vantage point not visible at all. Due to all that the ambiance lacks as well. It could use some color to make you feel happy."

  • "We went to Sons and Daughters to celebrate our anniversary and everything was spot on, from the entire staff wishing us a "happy anniversary," to the perfect wine pairings and inventive menu. While the dinner was incredibly expensive, the experience was well worth it."

  • "I've been to 150-200 restaurants in SF now, and this was my fifth visit to Sons and Daughters and its still one of my favorites. Love this place, can't wait to go a sixth time!"

  • "Top 5 restaurant find in SF. Finally, food that the price matches the quality! Service is excellent and atmosphere is professional and quiet."

  • "What an experience. The decor is understated but perfect! The food is done SO well and I am amazed and what comes out of that tiny kitchen. We did the wine pairing and it was very complementary! Bread courses were fantastic. I would definitely return once I save up."

  • "Quite small (I think like 14 tables), and just down off Nob Hill, the place is charming and intimate. But the story is the food! Prix Fixe at $98/person, $158 with wine pairings, sure isn't cheap, but even with the small portions, almost any one of the seven courses is worth the price. Each was unique and melt in your mouth delicious, a non-stop series of "Mmmmmm"s and "wow"s. They have their own farm in Los Gatos, and the freshness of the veggies is incredibly evident. And if you are a bread lover, prepare for a new affair! I am still savoring the cumin toast with which they start you off. I'd guess you can tell that we 'll be returning to this gem soon and often."

  • "Top 10 meals ever, in every respect. And we have eaten at many restaurants including Gary Danko, Saison, and other top notch places. The service was ideal and the food..oh my gosh the food....perfect. Gorgeous, delectable, every bite an experience in my mouth. We had the wine pairing which was divine. No pretentious wait staff (actually the polar opposite of pretentious). Every person wished me a happy birthday when we arrived - but in a low key, very appropriate kind of way as a greeting. The restaurant atmosphere itself is lovely. I can't say enough good things about our dining experience. Can't wait to return."

  • "It's our second time and Sons and Daughters and we were blown away by the quality of their food once again. Each dish looks beautiful and tastes even better. I also love their amazing bread courses, which is probably the best bread I've ever had. The service is unpretentious and the price is reasonable. Highly recommended!"

  • "For those who may have been to Frantzen Linden in Stockholm, the principle is similar... Like dining in a person's home with a prix fixe menu, fresh inventive ingredients, and a great small plates mentality. They also print menus as momentos and made my wife's bday special."

  • "This is an intimate, unique and user friendly environment with food that rivals Gary Danko! Sweet breads were the best I have had outside of Paris!Unbelievable, buttermilk chip was a wonderful amuse bouche with garnishes, the 3 breads were AMAZING, and service plates art work. Relax, take your time, enjoy the service and the entire dining experience."

  • "My daughter and I enjoyed their 7-course tasting menu last week. Everything was very nicely prepared and presented, with most courses featuring fresh ingredients from their garden. The service was excellent. Plan for a long dining experience (2-3 hrs)."

  • "Love the food and service, all the dishes where superb, the chicken was cooked perfectly, sweetbreads was amazing, the only very small flaw was the the veal should was a bit on the dry side, but considering how good everything else was slightly dry beef was easy to overlook."

  • "This is the best dining experience in the city. This was our second time at Sons & Daughters and it was fantastic. The menu is adventurous, creative and top quality. Each course was delightful. The combinations of tastes are amazing. The service is perfect. Charming and friendly. "

  • "We frequent many "foodie" type restaurants. And while all the food is unusually interesting, it is not always delicious. The food at Sons & Daughters was ALL delicious. From the moment we walked in I was struck by the delicious aromas that filled the space. It was not overwhelming, just mouth watering. And then each and every bite was divine. We also had the wine pairing which was well done. This was a thumbs up and I would definitely go again."

  • "From the moment we entered the restaurant we were greeted by the staff and wished me a Happy Birthday! Upon seating, the menu was customized to the occasion we were celebrating - my name printed with a birthday wish. Wow! The prix fix menu was delicious. The vegetables were all so fresh since they tend their own organic garden. My favorite was the Lamb with garden celtuce and artichoke. The meat was so tender. The 3 different types of bread was very good. Our dessert was not too sweet. They even gave us a sampling of different sweets after our strawberry polenta and coriander dessert."

  • "I had concerns that our picky dining companion wouldn't like S&D because decades ago, he complained about Greens Restaurant. He actually liked the food here and ate the vegetables (veggie hater). 7 courses was more than enough for one person and I was full at 5 courses and started to pawn off my food to my husband. The chicken and lamb courses were wonderful with tenderly cooked poultry and Mr. Picky remarked several times how he liked the lamb. There were some "different" tastes with spices and the coriander ice cream was not our favorite. We had a great bottle of Marin merlot with low tannin. They make you feel very special on your birthday - free glass of champagne, tiny dessert bites - milk choc square, honey brittle. A gem. "

  • "I invited my boyfriend here for his birthday. Earlier in the day as we were walking around town he remarked how, although he enjoys good food, thinking back, he doesn't really have any memorable meals. None really stick out. Well, Son's and Daughters gave him that memorable meal. We were awed. The meal was an amazing delight of flavors upon flavors...vision after vision..nuances of flavors layered upon and within...served like small pieces of art...it was a delight for each course to admire the presentation, listen to the description, sip the wine, then pick up a utensil and slowly savor a bite...feeling and sensing the nuances as a smile spread across our faces...every single course! FABULOUS! Definitely memorable. Very grateful."

  • "My wife and I tried Sons and Daughters for our 11th wedding anniversary dinner--turned out to be the perfect choice. The food was delectable--each dish was delicious. Some involved small explosi8ons of taste, others were more subtle. The service was attentive. Took nearly three hours to make our way through the menu, but the evening was perfect."
