A word from solita Tacos & Margaritas
solita is a simple, sophisticated neighborhood restaurant built around a custom wood grill, inspired by the best of our travels through Baja California and Mexico. solita’s Mexico is fresh and delicious, simple and light. It’s made from scratch, often carrying a smoky flavor from the wood or charcoal grill, full of flavor from fresh salsas, corn tortillas, limes, dry and fresh chiles, crushed herbs, fruit and spices, mole sauces and cheeses… solita brings the fun and authentic flavors of street food to the American table.Continued

Diner Reviews
  • "We were celebrating an anniversary and the food and service were excellent! The waitress was very attentive and was there just the right amount. The food was unique and delicious."

  • "We asked for a quiet table, so they sat us 5 feet from a birthday party table of about 25 kids.....asked to be moved and they only let us go around the corner to sit 5 feet away from the parents of all those kids.... 4 of us couldn't talk across the table. Not one of us will return. Crowded, noisy, loud music - all trying to be hip - just uncomfortable."

  • "It wasn't terribly busy for a Sunday afternoon, but service was slower than slow & had to keep asking to get water; waiters brought the wrong food to us 3 times. Very unorganized! We sat at the bar & the bartenders ignored us most of the time & trying to get anything was like it was too much for them to handle. Great atmosphere, food was good, but need to get your staff on board!"

  • "I fell in love with the grilled corn elote that I saw online and was going to make it at home- then I discovered the restaurant was nearby! The decor is beautiful, the servers are smart, the tacos are delish, and that corn is out of this world! Will be going back soon!"

  • "I absolutely loved this restaurant! From the service to the food to the drinks! Everyone was warm and friends. The food was hot and delicious! The drinks were cold and yummy! I will definetly be going back for more =)"

  • "Yummy small plates and Margaritas were the perfect choice for a reunion with a long-time friend! The taquitos and the carnitas tacos were both very flavorful. We especially enjoyed the salsas at the table! They made me feel like I was visiting my friends in Jalisco. In fact, the busser came over to refill our water and before we knew it, the 2 of us (recently retired Spanish teachers) were engaged in a wonderful conversation with him about Jalisco!! ¡Chido! We'll be meeting at Solita for dinner in the near future!"

  • "The food was good except for the quesadillas that someone in our party ordered. They had been sitting for awhile and were dry. I had roasted chicken which was delicious. We would go back again."

  • "Me and my girlfriend came here for the first time after finding it on Open Table, the overall feel was great. Drinks were good and the food was even better. Everything was topped off with excellent service as well. Our server Laura was fabulous! I only wish we saved room for dessert."

  • "I went with my mom for a girls night out after we did some shopping. The food was great, the drinks were tasty & our server was very nice! The only issue we had was that it was cold the night we went and we were sat right next to the patio door outside where cold air kept rushing in. Prices are a little high as well but I will definitely be going again."

  • "We did not have the same experience the second time sat in the bar area and the waitress was distracted . The food was OK the corn not so sweet and yet the first experience was so good I will go for a third time . We need more restaurants like this !! So you build them and we will keep trying them out !! Overall first first a A - for a HB restaurant --2nd visit C+........."

  • "Had reservations and were seated at our reservation time. Waitress was friendly and had a good personality. The restaurant was busy and the waitress had several tables. Our server seemed to be prompt but the behind the scenes staff seemed slow. Our drink order was put in but it took awhile for them to be brought to the table. We placed our food order and was told the kitchen advised the staff they were backed up and orders would be delayed. It seemed to take an extraordinary amount of time for our food to come but once it was served it was warm and tasty Only negative was time it took for service."

  • "Great food, great ambiance, great service. The only problem was figuring out what to order; everything we tried was superb. My wife and I will surely be coming back here soon. For a starter, try the corn or the ceviche. The chips and salsa they bring to the table is wonderful in its own right. For your main dish, there are a couple different opportunities to sample from their extensive taco list, and believe me, most of them are amazing in flavor. We sat outside on a beautiful Huntington Beach afternoon and had a perfect experience."

  • "Solita Skinny Margarita is made with Agavales blanco tequila shaken with fresh lime juice, a touch of agave nectar, and a splash of soda water. Wow, this tasted like an adult limeade! It made me pucker a little, but was very refreshing. I would totally order this again! I actually liked it a little better than the House Margarita. Exotic Mushrooms (Setas) with Wood-Grilled Poblano Chiles & Cream is sautéed mixed mushrooms and green chile with garlic, epazote, white wine, heavy cream, and cheese. This was the dish of the night! The creamy sauce worked well with the meaty mushrooms, using it as a dip with tortilla chips or smeared on a corn or flour tortilla."

  • "I love this place the food and service are outstanding the only complaint would be the noise level I wish they could do something about it but it does not stop me from eating there because the food is off the charts amazing!"

  • "Last minute dinner plans and so worth it for Restaurant Week! For $20, I got 3 taquitos for my stater, a grilled chicken salad for my entree and home made churros for my dessert. $20 SO WELL SPENT! The taquitos were tasty, and fried JUST RIGHT! Not greasy as I've had at other places. The grilled chicken salad... they didn't SKIMP on anything! PLENTY of chicken. PLENTY of bacon. PLENTY of avocados. Home made churros were good, although just a little TOO MUCH on the cinnamon and sugar, but that was easily tapped off. The semi-sweet chocolate syrup was just the right touch. Service was great. The food came out quickly. Only down side was that I had to wait a bit for my water to be refilled each time."

  • "My husband and I had a great dinner here on a busy Sat. night with a reservation. We arrived early and were seated promptly by a very friendly hostess. We were soon greated by our very friendly waiter who provided excellent service all evening. The house margaritas were great. We ordered the Queso Al Forno for an appetizer which was delicious as well as the chicken mole and carne asada tacos for our entree. The tortillas and chips were quite greasy; it appears they were fried in way too much oil. The rice was nothing special while the cole slaw was fresh and tasty. Restaurant/bar area very crowded and noisy. Great dining experience. Be sure to get a reservation if you go!"

  • "Went for a birthday dinner. The major disappointment was the service. Our waitress brought our drinks and then disappeared for 10-15 minutes. I went up to the hostess stand to ask where she was. About 5 minutes later she came to the table and said she saw us taking photos and didn't want to disturb us??? When the food came, she was nowhere to be seen. Several helper-types brought the food out and didn't know who to give it to and there were several mistakes with our order. The manager came over and apologized and said he would give us some free desserts to compensate for everything. But then he forgot and didn't do that. I don't know if I will ever go back."

  • "The restaurant look was very nice and the outside adjacent area with entertainment and water features was attractive. The parking was terrible. The customer service was very good. The margaritas were good although a little weak. The food was a mixed result. The oak grilled chicken and the taquitos that two of our party had were very good. The fajitas two of us had were disappointing. They weren't warm which is fixable and indeed a manager offered to correct it. He even supplied some chicken to go with the carne asada when we remarked it would be nice to have a combination. He also brought complimentary churros, but they had rather hard edges and didn't seem freshly cooked. We are considering trying the happy hour to sample the appetizers."

  • "great service, unique salsa, chips and burros. Great drinks and ambiance as well. The oak chicken was delicious but the rest of the food we had (variety of tacos) was uninspiring. We were expecting bold flavors, but everything was rather bland and uniform tasting from the fish, chicken and chorizo and sweet potato. It was almost difficult to even tell the food items apart. They all sound delicious, but unfortunately didn't live up to their descriptions on the menu. I would definitely not come again for the food, however the ambiance, chips, burros and drinks are a hit. Please liven up the dishes and you'll have a hit!"

  • "I would like to first say, Huntington Beach needs a place like yours. Things to work on: Staff, young and need more training in all areas. We started with appetizers, chips a little oily, 30 minutes to wait on one appetizer and had to keep asking about the order. The main courses, were a disappointment, Some parts of the same dish was cold when it was a hot dish, portions all over the place. I ordered the crab and shrimp enchiladas. I was asked how they tasted and I honestly couldn't tell. All I tasted was shell and sauce. Friend got tacos and their was no protein in one shell. Manger came and was doing the best he could, but is young. More to say. I'll come back for drinks and wait awhile for food. Keep working at it and Good Luck"

  • "Food had very good flavor, but the portions were too small. My daughters chicken taco had more meat in it then the ones I ordered. The service was entirely too slow, it took 90 minutes from start to finish which was about 30 minutes too long. It seems like the kitchen is too small or understaffed to handle a restaurant with as many seats as Solita has. Additionally I think there are a few too many tables in this restaurant. Good news is that the Manager John K. was very willing to listed to my comments and has invited us back another time to fix the issues."

  • "Our waitress was superb, and the rest of the staff was very friendly & attentive. The food was good, a tab overpriced for the quantity but very tasty. The fruit juice of pineapple & papaya was delicious and so was the queso al forno."

  • "I was cruising OpenTable looking for Mexican food and I came across this gem. Walking in, I loved the dimly lit room and the bar-like feel to it. It was like an upscale El Torito at first, but after trying the food, it is WAY better than that. Our server was a delight and she made excellent recommendations. We ordered the roasted corn, Horchata, and snow crab & lobster enchiladas. The chips and salsa were AMAZING. We loved the wheels in the basket. It gave it a different flare to it. The only complaint is that we didn't get limes with it, but really, they were delicious with just the salsa. Everything we ordered was delicious and the dessert was the cherry on top (homemade churros with chocolate sauce & ice cream)."

  • "I have been waiting for this restaurant to open since the sign went up that read "tacos and margaritas". We finally went and WOW! it was worth the wait. The place is beautiful and when we sat down and got served salsa and tasted it, I was like, "if this is an inclination as to how the food will be, this place is going to be amazing!" sure enough, the food didn't disappoint. I secretively wanted to not like that place since it is so close to my apartment, but I love it and will be going back very often! I had the kiwi-strawberry marg and it was delicious! All around, so glad this local place is now in the area! Delicious!!"

  • "This place was very busy for a TUES. night..reason is its great like its "sister" Sol Cocia in Newport . Great service, drinks worth the visit and all the sauces and salsas are very flavorful. The chips are obviously done in house, you can make them a meal. Salsa is smokie/spicy. Yellowtail ceviche to die for;/fresh/light..chicken taq.s are marginal...no spice or seasoning. The enchiladas w/both green/red sauce were delicious, others in our group fnd all tacos were spot on,very tasty EXCEPT the crisp fish tacos, which failed to be crispy. The mgn., checked in to see how our meal was we advised him of this issue which he noted. Guessing it will be corrected already. We look forward to exploring other items on the menu. Thanks Again !! yum"

  • "My girlfriend saw this place while shopping, always looking for new places, this was a great find. Quality of food was excellent at good prices. Although a bit noisy like most restaurants, the service was over the top and friendly, has a great decor, plenty of room on the patio, definitely will enjoy becoming a regular."
