Rio Chama in Santa Fe, New Mexico is located not far from the Santa Fe Plaza, next to the state capitol. Since 2001, the restaurant has developed a reputation for simple, elegant dishes made with high-quality ingredients. You'll find a relaxing atmosphere offering a mix of intimate dining rooms, inviting patios and one of Santa Fe's most popular bars. It is a long standing Santa Fe institution, where Executive Chef Joel Hernandez features modern American cuisine serving the best prime rib, steaks and seafood. We serve the Edible Magazine 2023 People's Choice for best green chile cheeseburger. Excellent food, wine, and spirits with great hospitality and service make Rio Chama perfect for any occasion.

We take reservations for the dining room only. Our bar and Doug Montgomery @ The President’s room is first come first serve basis.

Parties 15 to 30 guests we have a beautiful room called the Abiquiu room , it is completely private and looks into our downstairs wine cellar.for parties 35 to 100 we have a room called the presidents room, it is perfect for any occasion, has a projector and screen. Used to be one of our favorites when in Santa Fe but this time the food was just ok. We always ordered the same meals but this time they just weren’t good. They also raised prices and added extra charges for bread etc. We always went at least once while in Santa Fe but probably will not go again.

For Father’s Day there were 3 of us. We all had the prime rib dinner. It was very well presented and cooked as ordered. However, it was concerning that so few people were eating there on a holiday celebration. I think the price was way too high and this kept people away. I wouldn’t recommend this restaurant because of the high prices. I don’t see this place staying in business very long as it is an enormous restaurant with too high of prices and few customers.

It was our 10 year anniversary where we actually had our reception at Rio Chama. I placed these notes when I booked through Open Table. I was hoping for some special service but it was just an average experience. Nothing bad but nothing great.

"Oh, how the mighty have fallen." Prime rib: salty and tough. Lobster tail: salty and tough. Dessert: made with canned peaches. I spent a fortune, did not get my leftover fondue to take home, and fed the steak to the dogs. Never again.

I came at the very end of the seating, was treated respectfully (doesn’t always happen being a lone female), and I was not rushed a bit. The ribeye was succulent and perfectly cooked and seasoned. Thank you Caesar for being a fantastic host and waiter. Dionne

We received fabulous service and a cozy, quiet spot to celebrate an 80th birthday. Our server was wonderful and all of the food came out perfectly. Highly recommend Rio Chama

We had an excellent experience at Rio Chama. Food was great and service was attentive. We had reservations on a week night so it was less crowded; made it perfect and romantic for our anniversary date.

We were had an open table res. We were seated at a table that was not set. We waited 15 minutes for our waitress who was apologetic. We waited another 15 min for drinks. We asked 4 times for a bread basket. We asked to split a salad 3 ways. We were told that would cost $10. The food was not prepared properly. Sea bass was soupy and small. Prime rib chewy. Check comes. $2 surcharge for a martini. $7 bread basket charge. Crossed that off the bill. Manager tells us we are rude instead of being polite and fixing bill. We were the last ones in the restaurant due to all the waiting time. We left angry and unsatisfied
