We drive all the way from west Maui ( 1 hour +) to dine at Matteo’s every time we visit Maui Our dinner tonight was off the charts wonderful!

The fresh fish of the day, opaka Paks was quite good in a delicate creamed sauce over polenta; the short ribs, a staple on the menu, was tender, flavorful. Wine list somewhat limited but, never the less a nice selection. Note that corkage is $40.. Servers were very friendly and informed of enre’ composition. Dining on outside patio quite pleasant and quieter than main dining room.

Service was excellent however the good was not worth the cost. Portions were small for the cost. Meatballs lacked some flavor and were not hot. I had the eggplant parm- it was good, not great as it was smothered in so much sauce and cheese- you couldn't taste the eggplant. Chicken parm, short ribs and ravioli were good- not great.

I always enjoy dining at Matteo's, the experience is consistent. I had his 'famous' turkey meatballs with arriabatta. Took my clients there, ample parking and nice environment, relaxing lighting adds to the positive energy.

My husband and I had an amazing dinner last night…. Matteo’s is always excellent on all points. Kiana , our server, is impeccable! Always a pleasure to see her and the rest of the great team they have there! Can’t wait to return sooner than later!!

Pretty good but was put off by them charging for refills of soda— no one does that unless they tell you or they serve you a can or bottle but to be charged $5 for each refill is not good.
