Diner Reviews
  • "Si Bon is now on our favorites list here in the desert. The food was delicious and reasonably priced for the quality. The service was very good. Phillipe - the owner and head chef worked the room and added great ambience to their sort-of open kitchen. I wish them the best!"

  • "This is our second time to dine at SiBon in Rancho Mirage. We chose to dine in the patio as it gets a bit noisy inside. Our servers were very pleasant and attentive. I tried their special white fish and it was excellent, moist and absoultely melted in my mouth, It came with mashed potatoes and an assortment of veggies which were cooked to perfection. My husband tried the fettucini with tomato basil and shrimp and he loved it. I couldn't resist trying one of their desserts so I got the creme brulee' and it wasn't your ordinary creme brulee but was mixed with an assortment of berries and folded into a nice crepe. It was delicious."

  • "Four of us enjoyed a wonderful dinner on the patio at Si Bon recently. We had not requested outdoor seating when reserving but upon arrival we found the restaurant to to be too noisy and when we asked , were happily seated on the patio where we enjoyed a good wine, and an excellent meal. The service, much like in France, was " as asked for." We were not hurried along but needed to signal our readiness for service. We will certainly return"

  • "Having arrived early for our reservation, we thought we'd have to wait especially seeing the walk-ins waiting nearby, but we were greeted with a friendly smile and within a minute, a table was made up for us! Dinner was fabulous, as usual! As was the service. Thanks for always making our dining experience most wonderful!"

  • "Reservations are a must, the restaurant is very industrial looking, the tables are small and very close together but the food is very good and freshly cooked. Best french fries I've ever eaten. I tried the shortribs and they were melt in your mouth tender my husband had the stroganoff which was also good. We both loved the salads and the service was excellent. The chef made his rounds and stopped at each table to check on our meal which was a nice touch. We will definately go back to this restaurant."

  • "The main courses were very good, however, the appetizer (escargot) was less than stellar. In fact, couldn't eat it. Service staff was excellent and attentive to our needs. Find the inside area to be extremely crowded and noisy. We were seated against the wall by the kitchen at a table for two, that I was sure we were going to be rammed by staff going to and fro from the kitchen. To exit we had to work around tables and staff to find an exit. That being said, the food was very good and we booked a table for 4 for the next Sunday with Patio seating. Hopefully we will have a better experience."

  • "Great restaurant! We had to push our reservation back twice in one day and they were more than accomodating. So glad we found this little gem in Palm Desert."

  • "I eat their quite often and was very disappointed with the seafood boulabay . Their was hardly any seafood in the bowl. My lady friend guest from Dallas said she didn't get enough to eat. I felt that way also."

  • "Dinner was wonderful, as always. We also have enjoyed Breakfast and lunch."

  • "Food was very good, would recommend Si Bon based on that alone. However, there was a pronounced air of "speed the patrons through" which made for an unenjoyable experience. For example, the person seating the four of us did not listen to the name on our reservation even after correcting him. We were subsequently seated at the wrong table and then asked to move about 10 minutes later, setting the tone of the evening. The meal seemed to be a test of speed eating; the main course arrived before we were finished with the first course and of particular bad etiquette, the main courses was cleared from the table while one of our guests was still eating; leaving us feeling that although the food was good, the overall dining experience was sub-par."

  • "Fantastic food - best mussels ever! Great service. This is a smallish bustling, European style restaurant. The tables are close together - good for meeting neighbors but not for a quiet dinner out. The food is so good that it has become very popular so make a reservation."

  • "I have had breakfast and lunch at Si Bon. My breakfast has always been very good. I went to lunch with a group of gals and I had a salad and a friend had a salad also, neither one of us enjoyed it. The last time I went our breakfast was very good but the service was slow and we waited to long for someone to take our order. I will return to have breakfast again but probably not lunch."

  • "I was excited to learn of a new Belgian restaurant in Palm Desert. Unfortunately, the menu was confused and only had a few authentically Belgian (or even traditional French) dishes. The wine list was lack-luster and boring. I selected the mussels to start, but the "sauce" was watery and had little taste. For my main, I selected the waterzooi, which was fairly authentic in preparation but was so salty I could hardly stand it. The salt overwhelmed what was otherwise nothing more than a parsley flavor. And the bread…was likely purchased next door at Albertsons. It certainly was not made in house nor was it a nice crusty baguette. Very disappointing…and my expectations were not huge since it is in a strip mall…but that's Palm Desert."

  • "We took guests who had some dietary preferences. The special requests were accommodated nicely. The chilled cucumber soup was delicious. And the chocolate mouse was very good."

  • "Took some artist friends from Los Angeles to this neighborhood treasure...food is always the best and the ambience is wonderful. This night it was a bit noisy but it didn't matter because everyone was having such a great time..."

  • "My husband is a Belgian waffle connoissuer. He has had them all over the world, and said these were the best he has ever had. The lobster salad at lunch is a delight to the palate too! And don't even get me started on the chocolate mousse!!!!!!!!"

  • "This bistro in the Albertson's mall in north Palm Desert is quite refreshing in its pleasing ambience and very good food. It is usually busy as the food is much better than any in the area, the prices fair, and therefore, a good value !"

  • "The food was delicious. The service was very good, even though the restaurant was quite busy. The staff was welcoming and most pleasant. I would not hesitate to recommend Si Bon to family and friends."

  • "An excellent local restaurant that incorporates high quality ingredients in their various dishes. I had to try their French fries and they were excellent as was the salad I had. Will definitely go back. The only drawback I noted was that it was rather loud, but that is because the place was full!"

  • "This is the first time we have been back to the restaurant in over 6 months - and after 3 previous visits they finally had mussels. All 4 of us had mussels with a variety of sauces. All were great and they were accompanied by some of the best fries in the desert. The restaurant was noisy and bright, and the tables are set close together. It feels a bit like eating at a food court. The quality of the food, as always was excellent. Service was a bit slow but overall pretty good."

  • "Sat outside (by choice) on Valentine's day. Wonderful evening. Seating inside seemed loud and beneath the quality of food served. Inside ambience seemed like a diner, but the quality of the food and preparation more than made up for plastic seats. Service was attentive without hovering. Already have plans to return in a couple weeks when inlaws fly in. Definately recommend."

  • "Food good and served quickly. Server was attentive, but hard to understand. Manager and chef visible but never checked my table. Manager and chef standing at door on my way out but did not acknowledge me. I probably will not go back."

  • "Our third visit to SiBon which means very good and on their busiest evening, we were well taken care of. The food was very good. We were seated very closely to a table on either side of us, but the guests were very respectful of the tight quarters and we met the owners. It is great to have a above average calibur restaurant in our neighboorhood. We needed one. We wish them much success and look forward to many visits back!"

  • "Just when I thought Si Bon could not get any better it did get even better! This is a perfect restaurant! We started with a glass of Rose that was crisp, light and delicious. We had the Short Rib dinner which was flavorful and tender. We had the roasted beet salad with sliced tomato and goat cheese. This salad is the best I've ever had. Even better than in France! We also had the crab ravioli. This is the best ravioli I have ever had anywhere! Tender, flavorful - absolutely delicious! The service is always good at Si Bon. The maitre d and hostess are friendly and the servers are all well trained. Philippe always greets the customers with a smile! I cannot say enough good things about Si Bon. It is busy for good reason."
