  • "Great food, service and ambience. A true favorite and neighborhood gem"

  • "It's always good take-out or dine-in. Be sure to make a reservation because it's busy."

  • "Despite having to call and move back my reservations because we were running late, Shells and Sauce was very accommodating and seated us at a lovely table outside for brunch. It was the perfect day for outdoor dining...don't be fooled by the noodle-inspired name---they have a fantastically diverse menu for brunch!"

  • "Happy hour is my favorite time to eat yummy appetizers (good value) and a glass of wine. Service a plus."

  • "My friend and I enjoyed a wonderful brunch on Sunday. The food and service was wonderful; we had the funnel fries, the banana foster waffles, and the breakfast sandwich. They even had a tv inside so I could watch the world cup game."

  • "One of our dinners came out cold. Neither had much taste. Thank goodness for the salads and wine."

  • "Love shells and sauce. Great for families, great happy hour, great patio, great food. All around excellent."

  • "The food is excellent-homemade pasta and bread. I got the shrimp diavalo and it was delicious. The veal pram wasn't great-kind of overcooked. And our server was terrible, said it was her first day there, but I'm sure it was her first time ever waiting tables. Assume that is not typical service for this cute neighborhood bistro and will definitely go back!"

  • "Food is always fantastic...which is why the place is always so busy. Go for brunch when you're not in a rush, expect service to be a little slow because the place is packed (definitely recommend a reservation), and be prepared to thoroughly enjoy your meal!"

  • "Best place in a very long time. The service was on point and the food was better. I went for brunch and had the best chicken and waffles in the city."
    Dined on 6/21/2014
  • "The service was great, everyone had a smile. People were enjoying themselves and being casual. Reminded me of a neighborhood restaurant in Brooklyn. Calamari is wonderful, the bread is baked oven fresh and service was quick. The food was typical american italian, alit if heavy entrees. The fig and pear flat bread was great, reminded me of Dada in Delray Florida. Definitely on my list of places to go back to. Great for bringing out if town friends. Young crowd, great energy."

  • "I've frequented the restaurant since discovering it a couple of years back. Small place with great food and a friendly staff. I took my mom again while she was in town visiting...this time for brunch. Great variety of options and a good price."

  • "This was our second time at Shells and Sauce. I had the Cioppino and it was outstanding. Our waiter was attentive and clearly enjoyed his job. I also liked the open garage door and the comfortable relaxed atmosphere. We will be back!"

  • "I have tried calamari in multiple locations in Denver and hands down Shells and Sauce is a winner. The service is always fabulous and the Happy Hour deals are a steal."

  • "We often go to Shells and Sauce for their great, inexpensive happy hour. This is not a run of the mill junk food happy hour, it includes stuffed portabella mushrooms, grilled chiciken and beef skewers, gormet pizza, and arugula salad - all for around or under $5. This last time, we were celebrating my daughter's birthday. We ordered may appetizers and tried some entre's as well. The entre's were all so tasty. This has been one of our regular go to places and will continue to be!!"

  • "This neighborhood restaurant was recommended to me by my savvy daughter. We were meeting friends and needed a place to eat before heading to Botanic Gardens for the Chihuly exhibition. We arrived for early seating and were quite comfortable. Service was quick and friendly. As the evening crowd arrived, the ambience changed quickly. The restaurant had an energetic vibe, and it was fun to see all the families enjoying an evening out. Great selection of salads and main courses on the menu. The hot crusty bread was a hit at our table. All of us enjoyed our meals. Lobster ravioli, YUM! The only down side was the closeness of the seating. We needed to nudge our table forward so we weren't bothering customers who were seated behind us."

  • "Been here many times and tried a pizza this time and it was very good. Still waiting for Eckmek to return to the menu !!!! Love this place and the wait staff, Very friendly. One improvement, seems lately (like the last two times we were there), we had to ask for the bread and dipping sauce, whereas normally, they bring it after they take the drink order. "

  • "The bartender is fantastic. We love their meatballs. The marsala sauce was way to sweet for my taste. "

  • "Spring is here and the front patio is open. Went the other night and had the best waiter--very attentive and friendly. Got the last patio seat and had some good wine and food. A perfect spring night."

  • "This was not a good experience. The main room is not just noisy and crowded - it's cacophonous and unpleasant, and difficult to have a conversation. I told the waitress I was looking for a lighter pasta and she steered me to the penne and brussells sprouts, which was one of the heaviest and most unappetizing dishes I've been served in years. They fry the sprouts for some reason, making an already-heavy dish that much worse. Ate about five bites and left the rest, but the waitress didn't seem to care."

  • "I don't have one complaint. Our web reso with opentable didn't process but they took care of it & seated us promptly anyway. Our server was awesome, funny, informative, & accommodating. Food was great! We will be back for sure! "

  • "Had a reservation at 7:15. Was sat quickly and ordered our food not soon after. Our meals came out to our table a full HOUR after we sat down! Bread was not given till at least 15-20 mins after being seated. We requested more bread because of our long wait and there was none available for the rest of our time there. Food was good even though one order was incorrect. Decided just to eat it instead of waiting even longer. Our server tired his best and we could see it was out of his hands. Normally have good experienced here but this time they must have had a bad night. "

  • "There was a bit of a mixup when we first arrived that was quickly sorted out. Mixups happen, so as long as they're sorted out professionally, I never really mind. The food was a smidgen pricey but delicious and the service was attentive. Overall, I would definitely return. It was a nice night out with friends."

  • "Food was really good and our server was very helpful and nice. Prefer seating upstairs, downstairs is way too noisy and busy. They happily accepted our open table points cheque that we earned from using opentable.com. I highly recommend. "

  • "I stumbled upon Shells and Sauce when I moved into the neighborhood and it was an amazing find! The food is excellent (for both dinner and brunch), the wine list is affordable and the wait staff (especially Maria) makes dining here an experience. Definitely check it out."

  • "The menu was small which is OK if the food cooked is superior it wasn't it was average & over cooked. The ceiling leaked & dropped on me while dining"

  • "Great as all ways, but what happened to the bread you were always offered when you sat down?"

  • "From the moment we arrived until out departure, every detail was a delight. Clean and vibrant, Shells and Sauce feels like a new favorite place right away. The food is fresh, well prepared, and such a variety as to please most anyone, but not so eclectic that a sense of style is lost. Prices are moderate and match for value. At no time does one get that "corporate" vibe. The passion for good food and service is evident. Shells and Sauce is fun place that shouldn't be missed. A special acknowledgement to the staff, especially to Jamie. He was friendly and attentive but not at all intrusive. He was knowledgable about the menu and spot on with recommendations. "

  • "We went to Sunday brunch at Shells and Sauce and had excellent food. Menu is creative and has options for everyone (meat, veggie, etc.) There was a lively birthday party going on - loud but by no means disruptive. Everyone was having a good time. Our problem: wait staff seemed to lose us - as in having to wait more than 1/2 hour even as others, who arrived and ordered after we did, were served in a timely manner. When we finally asked about our food it was brought out promptly and was hot - probably had been sitting under heat lamps for a while. Also we had to ask for a check more than 10 minutes after the plates were cleared. The food will take us back - we'll treat the service as a mulligan."
