  • "We love the beautiful hotel floor that Shearns is located on. The club across the hall is just perfect for a relaxing drink prior to dining in Shearn's. Both have pretty views especially at night. The foot is always outstanding regardless of what we order. I love the seafood and my husband loves the steaks."

  • "We took my mother out to celebrate her birthday. Few restaurants offer all the ingredients to accomplish the perfect celebration but we found them all at Shearn's. The flowers we had ordered for the table were waiting for us upon arrival so we knew we were off to a good start. Special to us was the delicious and light vichyssoise, the delectable escargot and the superlative soufflé. When we were leaving without the flowers the manager rushed out to the elevator vestibule with them. The attentive staff ensures a perfect evening."

  • "Dine here on almost every special occasion. Great food and great ambiance. But, this time, the service was way below par. Had to ask for bread, was not presented the wine bottle before opening, table was not cleared of unused glasses and silverware and overall table service was somewhat shoddy. Would have given a lower overall rating, but based on experiences on many prior occasions, I know that this must have been an anomaly. Perhaps new wait staff, etc. I'll reserve judgement until my next visit."

  • "Very disappointed that we weren't notified that there was a set menu for Valentines day. Mainly because we didn't really want the items that they had. They need to let people know ahead of time. There was only one dessert which was Chocolate and we don't eat chocolate. The hostess was not very polite, we had made reservations weeks ahead of time and had asked for a window table. She sat us in a corner with no view and when I asked about other seating, she said that someone else had set the seating. When my husband asked the Manager later on, he said we could sit where ever we'd like that was open. She needs to be spoken to. The Manager was very nice."

  • "I've eaten at all the better restaurants in Galveston, and this is the one place that puts it all together... food, service, ambience, and view. Top notch in all respects. You have to go to Houston to find a comparison, but even then most Houston places can't come close to the view at Shearn's. A fantastic place for any kind of a special occasion."

Our group had a wide variety of appetizers ,salads and entries and all were well prepared and accompanied by great service. The bisque is really outstanding as well as the Portobello mushroom with lump crab appetizer.. We will return."

  • "The food and service are impeccable. The wine list for an upscale restaurant is minimal and I expected more. Compared to other upscale restaurants in Galveston the wine list needs to be brought up a notch. I asked if we could bring our own wine and pay a corkage fee which is an option at some of the smaller restaurants in town and was told no. When we have a great steak we expect to have a great cabernet to accompany it."

  • "We were down in Galveston for the weekend and decided to celebrate our 41st anniversary at Shearn's. We were greeted most cordially by the host who told us that our table would be ready whenever we wanted as we had informed him that we were going to the bar for a drink first. The chairs were most comfortable, the view excellent, and we enjoyed the Sinatra-like music. All of our food including the crab balls, filet and snapper special we're scrumptious. Our service was leisurely and pleasant throughout the evening and the evening was topped off with a complimentary chocolate soufflé that was delicious. All in all it was a great evening and we would recommend Shearn's to anyone wanting a most pleasant dining experience."

  • "good setting good service good food at times too rich and to heavy...watch the Cholesterol...too few low fat items on the menu sauces are very rich feels like Swiss food very different for Galveston , better organized than Gaidos impressed by fish knives an unknown entity in Galveston....an ideal place for special occasions pricey but worth it...lower prices and smaller portions would allow more frequent visits....leaner items on the menu would be welcome , nouvelle cuisine, California fusion would be good at least some items of it...obviously Urs is proud of his work, and he should be, its nice to see him coming in the dining room and talking to regulars"

  • "We've eaten at Shearn's many times and we've never been disappointed. I would place it as the top restaurant in Galveston. The view is great, it is not a large restaurant (~ 75 people) and thus the scene is quiet - exactly what we desire in a top end restaurant. The staff know their stuff and we always tip extra given that 17% is normally added to the bill but it is pointed out to us every time."

  • "Highlight of the night was the asparagus soup, really good. Blazai 'garden vegetables' were just that and cold. Steak was good but the 'fresh' fish was undoubtedly frozen and was mushy. Was it a rookie cook to put out such a meal? It appears the meal was hurriedly prepared and thus not well prepared. The vegetable medley is boring, lose it!"

After dining at Rudy & Paco's your service could not compare - our waiter never smiled, threw our napkins into our laps and was generally unfriendly. Its a wonderful restaurant with great views and excellent steak but service needs work!"

  • "This was our first time but will not be our last to dine here. The seafood selection we had were all outstanding-can not say enough about the sauces used in each dish. We had the crab cakes with pasta ,the signature shrimp and a really really good mushroom and crab appetizer. Service was very good and relaxed."

  • "Moody Gardens knows fine dining and service! We have been going to Shearn's about 1-2 times per year now for several years. Kelly, Roger, Heather, Franco are GOLD. Restaurant is to the south (giving a great view of the island and Gulf), and the lounge to the north (which gives you a view of Moody Gardens, the bay, and the causeway). To do the Shearn's experience right, you need to show up about 30-45 minutes before your reservation, have 1-2 drinks at the lounge, and have Heather and Roger take great care of you. Then go across to the restaurant and have Kelly, Franco and staff take care of you. Then go back to the lounge to finish out the night with the piano man! Everytime we go, it seems to be a 6:30PM-11PM experience!"

  • "don't belong there. Our waiter worked very hard at letting us know we were a bother and really not up to his standards. I have never had this happen here before and it was petty (and costly) on his part but it didn't distract from the fabulous food to be had at this restaurant."
