  • "oysters were fantastic, shaved abalone was as well. Ahi Tuna was amazing. Wine was great--- nothing I would change"

  • "We dined before the show and everything was perfect--the food was delicious, the service was attentive and the view of the Mississippi River outside was breathtaking."

  • "Really appreciated the quantity and quality of the early dining, fixe price menu!"

  • "Thank you for a wonderful dining experience. My husband was out of town so I treated myself to a dinner and a show. Despite the fact that I was a single patron, I received excellent service both for dinner and when I returned for a drink and dessert after the showThank you for a great evening!"

  • "From the octopus appetizer to the deconstructed desserts, the whole experience was a disappointment in flavor and execution. Asian influence doesn't mean heavy-handed soy. The cod while cooked well and with the subtleties of technique and flavors, was still overall bland. And well our desserts had lots of clever elements, they were disparate not delicious. We spent $200 for the two of us at the end had wished we had gone down the street and paid much less for Korean, Thai or Japanese"

  • "Great atmosphere, food and service. It was a wonderful way to start an eventing before seeing a play."

  • "We have been here several times, but this was the best. We were seated right away. The waiter was great and could explain all aspects of the menu. The different food items arrived in a timely manner and we never felt rushed. The trout was great and we shared a salad and dessert. Nothing but positive about the experience."

  • "Convenient for attending an evening performance at The Guthrie. Service can be uneven at times. The kitchen is good, but there are better in Minneapolis. The menu when this restaurant was Cue may have had broader appeal."

  • "We had tickets for a 1 o'clock play, so figured an 11:45 reservations would suffice. When our waiter arrived, we advised him that we were going to the play. We ordered. I had ordered the Crabcake BLT, she the fish and chips. A half-an-hour passes, and we called our waiter over. He was so very apologetic, very gracious, but he informed us that the Crabcake was very popular today and the kitchen wasn't able to keep up. About 5 minutes go by, and the waiter shows up with my Crabcake. Now the story was, the fish was being over-ordered. Really? I ate, then she ate and we ran to get to the play on time. They comped my friends meal, very nice. Me - guess I don't count."

  • "My friend's fish and chips dish was dismal. The fish was undercooked an barely browned. The server did not check back to see if things were satisfactory. She was not offered a refill on coffee while we were having dessert. I should have insisted that she send the fish back, but she hesitated to complain. I would not recommend Sea Change to anyone, nor will I return."

  • "This restaurant is in the Guthrie Theatre and that makes it the ideal pre=theatre dining spot. Food was delicious and promptly served by a courteous and solicitous staff."

  • "We were having dinner before the show. We recognize that this is a difficult time for the staff. However, even taken that into account the time between drinks, appetizer and the main course was terrible."

  • "Food was wonderful as always. Peter, our server, is a delightful, knowledgeable on all food questions, just exceptional!"

  • "I really love oysters but not enough to order them in a month that doesn't have the letter "R" in it. So I knew I wouldn't get oysters. We love the Arctic Char--one of your signature dishes and you were out of the char!!! I ordered the cod and it was okay but it was not what I had been wanting. My husband had the monkfish which he really enjoyed. The grilled carrots with some sort of yoghurt sauce were also enjoyable. And we had plenty of time to get to the show without hurrying."

  • "I decided to take my date to Sea Change before seeing "My Fair Lady" at the Guthrie -- it's a great room and convenient to the theater. The servers were solicitous, the wine was good and it was fun to be there -- but the food was disappointing. They recommended the cod, which was bland at best. My date's trout was delicious, but I've never seen such a small trout. I knew portions would not be huge, but this is a Midwestern restaurant tied to a theater that caters to a popular crowd -- and dare I say it, I'm wondering if something closer to a Red Lobster might be a better fit? Service was OK, although there was a delay in taking our order and we cut it pretty close to the curtain call -- just settled into our seats as the show began."

  • "This is the place to go for fresh and uniquely prepared seafood. The food was delicious and came in unexpected pairings. This is the perfect place to go before a Guthrie performance."

  • "There was confusion as to who was supposed to serve us and as a result the sevice was not good and the food was cool/cold."

  • "The crab cake had the taste of filler with no taste of crab since so little was in the product. They should label it a filler cake."

  • "We loved the service and amenities for our anniversary celebration--scallop appetizers and scrumptious dessert."

  • "I LOVE going to Sea Change before a show at the Guthrie! It's the perfect start to a great evening. The food is fantastic--smaller portions so you're never too "full" to enjoy the show & very creative & flavorful! It's a little spendy, but worth it on every level--taste, quality & fast attentive service mindful of time so you can find your seat in a proper, timely fashion. Plus all you have to do afterward is walk 5 minutes & you're in your seat--no stress. If you get the server Kim-we somehow get her every time, lucky us--she is extremely professional, friendly & helpful in ordering. The menu is unique and the staff do a great job helping you find the right fit for you palette and getting things moving. A+, Bread is fantastic, as well."

  • "Wonderful meal for a birthday celebration. Our waitress was terrific and even remembered us from our last visit. Great service and very friendly. Made sure we had everything we wanted and even added a few extras. Very knowledgeable. Had plenty of time to get to the play."

  • "It was my first experience here. When we arrived, there were only 2 other tables occupied. However, we waited about 10 minutes before anyone came to our table. Then several (3) other tables which arrived after us were actually serviced before us in all ways- with drinks, menus and food. Since everything we were eating was served cold, I was surprised how long it took for them to arrive. I tried 3 of the items: 2 starters- beets and langoustine; and the pickled trout for entree. I was expecting exceptional. They were all just ok, and very small portions- especially the starters. We won't be back."

  • "The location of Sea Change was perfect for dining prior to attending the Guthrie. The atmosphere was wonderful - airy, artsy and fun. The food was quite good, however I did not think that the server was particularly helpful or friendly. I watched other servers talking to customers and they seemed to talkative and smiley, whilst ours was quiet and intense. His demeanor made it difficult to ask about menu items and the wine list, which somewhat affected the resulting menu choices and overall experience. Had we had one of the other servers, I think the experience would have been excellent instead of quite good."

  • "Went to Sea Change for this first time last week--The food was wonderful, atmosphere enjoyable and drinks were good. We had a selection off every section of the menu. Razor Clams were a hit, along with the Bacon Chawan Mushi and Potato Crusted Cod. It was a slower night so we expected impeccable service, but that was a little bit off--we had to flag down the server a couple times to get some service. Other than that, we would refer people who enjoy seafood."

  • "As so many people do, we had dinner at Sea Change prior to a theater performance at The Guthrie. They take great pains to ensure that you are finished with your meal in time to get to your seats for the show, but that does not mean that anything is rushed. We had excellent, attentive service with updates as to where the various components of our meal were in preparation, and were offered the option to return after the performance for our dessert if things were running long in the kitchen. Beyond the wonderful service, the food was exceptional, from the handcrafted cocktails to the inventive dessert. The Arctic Char was wonderfully prepared and delicious. Five stars."

  • "You can't beat the view on the north patio at Sea Change, such a lovely and bustling landscape - Stone Arch bridge, the falls, the St. Antony skyline - it all makes for a great dinner setting. Our server, Lexie, could not have been more pleasant - friendly, attentive and knowledgeable. Her recommendations hit the mark. Good food and drinks, interesting combinations, lively pairings - a nice mix of options. Only downside to the visit: food runners had NO idea where they were going and walked aimlessly among the patio tables trying to figure out where to set appetizers and entrees."

  • "We are Raw Bar fans and everything was delicious. Best seating for us is right at the Raw Bar counter where we can watch everything being prepared. Our server and chef was Swan who was our guide though some great dishes. She was very pleasant, knowledgeable and provided us with excellent treats. Probably our favorite place for those special evenings."

  • "Food delicious. Portions are small, but that makes you savor the meal more (we eat too much any way). Especially good if you're seeing a show at the Guthrie."

  • "We were almost 20 minutes late due to traffic and not known about detours. We still had a wonderful dinner, superb service and got to our seats at the Guthrie in time to enjoy "My Fair Lady". We love Sea Change!!!"

  • "As season ticket holders at the Guthrie, we dine at Sea Change several times a year and are rarely disappointed whether eating in the ding room or at the bar. On this visit we shared the octopus appetizer (they split the order for us in the kitchen- always a nice touch) and it was excellent. Very firm texture and flavorful. For our entree we both got the Arctic Char, which we have had many times in the past. It really is their signature dish and it's hard to beat for flavor. It's served on a white bean puree which compliments the fish perfectly."

  • "The waiter bent over backwards to demonstrate that he and the restaurant were a notch above all others and me in sophistication. Unfortunately, I was not impressed or convinced. Sophisticated food should not need so much salesmanship, and it should be possible to describe with a few adjectives. By and large, there were too many themes, tastes and explanations for each item. If you want to feel very special for having chosen an expensive restaurant where the staff works overtime just for your intellectual tastes, you may like this restaurant. If you want an excellent meal served in a polite, friendly way with a relaxed ambiance, there are several much better choices in the immediate vicinity."

  • "I came here for an early dinner before a show. I'd read some reviews, and I have to say I wasn't disappointed. The food was good; the portion sizes were just right, and the presentation was excellent. The octopus appetizer was great, and the monkfish entree was perfectly cooked with a fantastic coconut custard side. The price was high, but not unexpected. Thr dtaff was very helpful and polite. Overall, a great dining experience.a wonderful"

  • "We were able to eat on the patio. The best view in Minneapolis over the stone arch bridge! Interesting menu. The wait staff was very patient explaining every option on the menu and very helpful with her opinions on what she really liked. If you have Guthrie play tickets, it makes for a terrific evening."

  • "Great food at leisurely pace, allowing time to enjoy the meals. Excellent waiter. Keep in mind, servings are pretty small, allowing to order an appetizer, and salad, and main course and desert without feeling that you have overeaten. The chef is great and very receptive to special preparation requests: for example, I like my meat well done, preferably sauteed, and the duck that comes typically as medium rare was prepared to perfection to well cooked; other restaurants tend to char the surface of the meat. I enjoy every time dining there, always a great experience."

  • "We ate at Sea Change on July 4th and watched the fireworks over the river afterwards. Dinner was great but the standout was the deconstructed Rhubarb Custard that was out of this world. Who would have thought the tastes of buckwheat and Sorrel could add to this exquisite dessert. I am a chocolate person, but this was a fantastic non-chocolate dessert!"
