  • "We really enjoyed Rich Table. Every aspect of our experience made us want to come back. Rich Table is definitely a restaurant that experiments with unique dishes. They do this with very familiar ingredients, so we never felt out of our comfort zone. Dishes included black-eyed peas, cantaloupe, tomatoes, pork chop, and potato chips. For me, it felt like the ingredients I grew up with in Indiana, but crafted into courses with that I never would have thought of. The beverage service was outstanding. The staff was extremely professional and fun to dine with. You can go to Rich Table and spend a lot or a little. A range of price options for food and beverage. We treated ourselves, but it's nice knowing they server 6$ beers too."

  • "Could this be the one of the most exciting menus we've ever experienced in the city? We think so. Everything was prepared with care (we think love). We pretty much stuck with appetizers last time but it doesn't matter what you try it will be wonderful. We have Rich Table on our top 5 list in SF."

  • "My husband and I ate here on a busy Saturday night. The staff was attentive even with a full room. Once we sat down, the menu was hard to choose from as we wanted SO many items. We choose several to share and taste and I have to admit, we did not leave one bite on any plate from start to finish. The sardine chips and dip, the burratta, the duck mousse on brioche all melted in our mouths bite after bite. It was a true delight. We finished our garganelli wanting to order another plate it was so good! We made room for our perfect steak, and pomme with curry sauce. We were fighting over the last bites. Our chocolate dessert with marshmallows was a divinely sweet ending. The service, the staff, the food and the decor is A+. A great night in SF"

  • "This was my first visit and I have to say the winning ticket was the service. Although the food was well done with great presentation and fantastic technique, the taste left me thinking there could be more. I had read some reviews on how this great restaurant was rated higher than Frances so I wanted to try it as I truly enjoyed Frances. However, in my opinion, Frances is the clear winner for an overall great experience along with absolutely fantastic food and service. Rich table was well worth the visit and I would recommend. My guess is that due to the enormous amount of extremely high and positive reviews, my expectations was set too high."

  • "i love this restaurant, have been several times and have had amazing experiences. this past trip was not amazing. i arrived early - 8pm for an 8:30pm reservation. I checked in with the hostess. Then when my friend arrived at 8:20, we ordered a drink from the hostess. At 8:40 we were starting to get cold sitting outside, so I went in to ask when our table would be ready. The hostess said she forgot to check us in! Even though I interacted with her several times. Then our server, who ended up being totally awesome, didn't come to the table for another 15 mins. The last kink was when a buser removed a dish that we were still eating! So weird for such a great restaurant with fantastic food. Maybe they are understaffed?"

  • "You won't regret it! Evan and Sarah Rich are at the top of their game. The food was amazing and plentiful (amazingly!) and the service was knowledgable and friendly without being overbearing. A gem. Make reservations. You will not regret it! I wish I was a local...I'd be here all the time, but then maybe that's a good thing... says my waistline and wallet."

  • "We chose the chef's choice menu to experience the range of cuisine. This means you have no idea what you'll be eating as it is all up to the chef. First off, there is a lot of food! I wish our server had suggested we refrain from ordering the bread - altho very dense and tasty it really was too much. As for the tasting menu there were some amazing dishes - among small bites the cantaloupe and black-eyed peas, sardine chips and porcini mushroom fritters. The pastas were very good but I did prefer the lamb ragu. The salmon was good - but neither of us liked the steak. The dessert dishes were good - but too much mint (expected in the chocolate mint but redundant in the peach cobbler). Next time we will order the hits and avoid misses."

  • "Rich table remains hot and can take planning to get into unless you live close by! So expecting a pretty good meal-- it was really good but some dishes we found so so. The hot items were the apps....burrata tomato salad, sardine chips (interestingly good), and local sliced halibut --- all worth a trip back for. Our main dishes - some pastas and a steak were okay ...had better at other places. Another note: its a cool space --- well done on style which is always key with me!"

  • "We had delicious food from the oysters on the half shell to the caprese salad to the salmon and 2 people had the lamb chops. ALL delicious. We had a wonderful server who was perfectly attentive and helpful. We would have preferred not to sit at the communal table however. As a group of three it was hard to talk across the too wide table. I will know for next time to request a table, because I definitely want to return to Rich Table. Plus it is in a very vibrant area with lots of places to pop into before or after your meal."

  • "The portions were a bit small. The wine we ordered by the glass wasn't offered in a half carafe as most were and the waiter's pour was ridiculously small. Since there was a charge for bread and the wine treated like a precious elixir, you wonder where else they are economizing."

  • "We were a party of 4 . . . so, we ordered and then we ordered again :) . . . sharing everything, as it came out !!! . . . EVERYTHING WAS FANTASTIC. Just some of the items we ordered were . . . Bites = DRIED PORCINI DOUGHNUTS, RACLETTE (5 for $7) * Starter = BURRATA, TOMATO COULIS, PADRON CHIMICHURRI & CRISPY ONIONS ($14) * Pasta = TAJARIN, SUMMER TRUFFLE, CRUSHED PEA & ANCHOVY ($22) * PORK COTECHINO, PLUMS, JIMMY NARDELLO PEPPERS & WHEAT GRASS ($24) * Bread = DOUGLAS FIR LEVAIN WITH HOUSE CULTURED BUTTER ($2.50). We ordered a bunch and If one stood out, we would order it again (averaged 3+ bites each, split 4 ways). This was a great way to sample a lot of tastes & textures . . . without having to commit (wink). GO AND ENJOY."

  • "I've been to Rich Table 4 times now, and most recently for their Chef's Tasting menu. Everything was just delicious and so well executed. The tasting menu (we were a party of 4) was timed perfectly between courses – look forward to all the "snacks" coming out in rapid fire at once, so that you can sample all of the tastes before the larger pasta, seafood, and meat courses. All 4 of us (3 were first-time diners) thoroughly enjoyed the meal, were able to hear each other and easily have conversation on a Saturday night, and never felt rushed. The tasting menu took about 3 hours. Our server was also brilliant – one of the best servers I've had – and was very kind to steer me toward a better wine for my courses than the one I originally picked."

  • "With both bites and appetizers on the menu, Rich Table allows the diner the flexibility to experience a wide range of flavor experiences and still enjoy the main courses and desserts. During our most recent dining experience we ordered 3 of the bites, all the appetizers but one, three pastas and two main courses and a dessert. This was split among 4 diners and it was a perfect amount of food. Rich Table chefs have mastered flavor pairings and presentation but their consideration of food textures brings the food enjoyment to even a higher level. Go with a small group and dare to order everything on the menu!!"

Could not order appetizers separately - had to place entire dinner order at same time, Also, no substitutions allowed. Prices very high given small portion sizes.   • "This was our second time, an improvement over the hostile host we encountered the first time we ate there, around the time of the opening. At that time I thought the food was good, but not unique. My husband thought otherwise. We took a long time returning b/c it was hard to get reservations. Now the furor has died down and we scored a table. Now he agrees with me. If we lived in this neighborhood, it would probably be a regular place for us, but since we don't, it's not worth the hassle. It's VERY noisy and I wish SF restaurants would find a way to factor in sound dampening as part of their design."

  • "Open table has always been my vehicle of choice for making reservations. But two experiences in the last week changed my mind. I made a reservation at Open Table and also at Hayes Street Grill, but at the last minute our plans changed. We went to open table to change the reservations, and in both cases found nothing was available. We called the restaurants, just in case, and had no problem making the reservations we wanted. When Open Table says there is no reservation, don't believe it. The food at Rich Table was OK at best. The Porcini Doughnuts, so wildly raved about, were absolutely tasteless. The pork chop was 85% fat. We ordered a dessert that was inedibile. The server was not surprised, and said that a change had to be made."

  • "We had friends come from out of town and get engaged during the day so my husband & I brought them here for a nice dinner. It was amazing. The atmosphere is great with an open kitchen so you can see the chefs working in harmony and being so precise. We started with the gruyere roasted potatoes, sardine chips, and porcini donuts and loved them all. Much better than everyone getting individual appetizers because you get to try everything. We also split a pork and peach pasta between the 4 of us - wonderful. I had the trout with corn grits and loved it, my husband had the steak and said it was very good. Our two guests also loved their entrees. For dessert the four of us split the olive oil cake and the crushed chocolate bar. Amazing!"

  • "Immediately after paying just over $200 for dinner with my girlfriend, we asked the hostess if we could schedule another dinner there for a larger party in a month's time. As she went to the back to write down our information, our server Carl came over to our table and asked us to get up and leave as there were other customers waiting. I asked if he was serious because I could not believe what I heard, and he said "yes" with a complete deadpan expression. In my SF dining experiance, or any place for that matter, I have never been asked to get up from our table to accomodate waiting customers. We left the restaurant completely insulted, angry, and confused. Needless to say, we cancelled our follow-up reservation."

  • "From the heartfelt birthday wishes from no fewer than three staff to the porcini-dusted doughnuts to the papparadelle to the main courses and stellar dessert (and bonus birthday dessert!), our first trip to Rich Table was memorable throughout. Our waitress had perhaps the best knowledge of the menu I have ever seen in ANY restaurant and never steered us wrong. The "bites" were decadent and delicious (please keep the doughnuts on the menu forever!), the housemade pasta outstanding, the main courses (scallops and salmon) exceptional, and the white chocolate mousse with watermelon granita a perfect conclusion. The cocktails were excellently crafted too. I can see a Michelin star in your future; it would be well deserved."
