Diner Reviews
  • "Everything was outstanding! From the moment at the host stand until we left. The food was delicious and service was impeccable. A definite thumbs up! "

  • "Rey's service was very attentive and prompt. Everyone's food was delicious from the surf and turf, salmon to the chicken. All cooked to perfection. Would definitely return over and over. The enjoyable part of the evening was having Rey prepare our flaming dessert at the table!"

  • "With New Orleans' cuisine with just the right amount of spice, attentive wait staff and a "Can't do enough to make your evening perfect," Rey's rings the bell for the adventurous diner. The portions, side dishes served family style, are large and exquisite, so come hungry. The drinks are top shelf and, top off the meal with Bananas Foster or the other delightful desserts. The interior is so authentic that, if you close your eyes, you'll hear the Charles Street Line just outside the door. You're in for a treat as North Caroline meets New Orleans."

  • "Lovely ambience. Food was great. Indoor romantic setting. Food was great for the selection. The selection was, however, very similar to other American restaurants, with a selection of meat, cut, and side orders, without any real though put into composition of the overall meal. Wine collection impressive."

  • "We have lived in Cary for 5 years and never visited Rey's. Can't believe what we were missing. The food was very good, the waiter very accomodating, and the lounge was a great place to sit and have a cup of expresso. We will be returning."

  • "My friend and I celebrated his birthday @ Rey's- and what a joy! The filet was divine with asparagus/hollandaise sauce. Started with french onion soup that was not over salted! A little disappointed in the very dense (seemed not fresh) cheesecake. The waitress and all the staff were so helpful and fun. During the dinner- you can view the chep making flaming bananas foster at tableside. We go again- have been before for Valentine's day also- Highly recommended from a true foodie!"

  • "We have found that Rey's consistently serves great steaks, prepared exactly as ordered, and is a wonderful dining experience. On a recent Friday night with a 6:30 reservation,we were greeted by Rey,and seated a comfortable booth (our choice). Our food was delicious, however the wait staff was off their game this night. We had ordered an appetizer and salad to share and two entrees. We received wine and bread right away;then an 18 minutes wait; then our salad arrived. We asked about the appetizer, the server was apologetic and took our salad back to the kitchen.Anotherlong wait, then the appetizer, seared tuna arrived.Previously (beginning to warm up) returned to the table. Our steak and the surf and turf were enough to return us to a good mood."

  • "Rey's is the best restaurant in Cary. Its service was impeccable, the food excellent, and the ambiance just wonderful for a truly enjoyable special outing. I highly recommend this restaurant. The owner was even there and went from table to table asking about the comfort of the guests--- unusual in this day and age of the big chain restaurants. I will pick Rey's any day. It's a local gem."

  • "Did this but was told to long. What I had to say as a disable person with a wheelchair needed to be said. However, not important to open table. Restrictions on the length of review. Another reason not to waste my time on reviews."

  • "We went for my husbands birthday and he enjoyed it. Our baby sitter cancelled sowe took 6 month old. The staff was very accommodating and helpful. The place was very quiet and clean. Our waiter was personable and knowledable about the menu. I ordered what I thought was a special (surf and turf) which ended up being $65. Our waiter neglected to tell us the price when he informed us of the so called special. My lobster was over cooked and dry. However my steak was very tender, although it laked seasoning. Overall it was a good experience. We got the bananas foster prepared table side and it was great."

  • "Rey's is true to itself in style. A comfortable restaurant with New Orleans style. Personal favorites are the seared tuna and the chopped salad. Flambe desserts are delicious - cherries jubilee and bananas foster are decadently delicious."

  • "Steaks are in the $35 range and 16oz+. Excellent cuts of New York Strip, Ribeye, and Filet. We ordered medium, mine was a tad under, but that is better than a tad over cooked. Servers were outstanding, knowledgeable, and handled our every request quickly and professionally. The only downside is the wine by the glass. The offerings were weak, cheaper wines, nothing to order with a high end meal. Bottles were available, but with only me tasting, I went by the glass. The wine was brought out warm, I am guessing 75 degrees warm, which is about 10 degrees above serving temperature. I would have expected a wine fridge in a high end restaurant like this one."

  • "Great service and the food was fantastic. We went for our anniversary dinner, and the staff was very responsive and personal with us. Recommend the cherries jubilee."

  • "We were a party of 12 and they gave us a lovely private room without us even asking. The tables were configured for easy conversation and everyone enjoyed a lovely evening. Service at Rey's is not to be beat anywhere in the triangle. Rey is always on site and is sure to greet all of his guests. The staff is caring, tuned in to everyone's needs and dedicated to ensuring that service is top notch. Jason always dleivers and we are disappointed when he is not there but tonight for this special occasion he was there and very attentive to us. The food and presentation is also top notch and plentiful. Desserts are not to be missed. if we want a special vening or have a special occasion to celebrate - Rey's is the answer."

  • "We dine at Rey's frequently and I am never disappointed. The food is always consistent. My wife and I had steaks which we think are the best in town. The appetizers were delicious as was or salads. The service was attentive but not intrusive. A very relaxing evening with great food is always what you can expect at Rey's."

  • "While the service was great, food was average. Not bad, just nothing special. Prices were over the top for what you receive. If we are going to spend that much will go to angus barn next time."

  • "The appetizer oysters were delicious and was the outstanding lobster bisque. A wedge salad is large enough to split among four. All steaks were cooked to perfection and we loved that they were served so hot. Bananas Foster was a perfect way to end the meal. The wine selection was very nice and offered a good selection. We were a tad disappointed that there was a "special, condensed" version on the night that we were there (2/14) and lamb chops were not available. The atmosphere was lovely and the setting very conducive to a wonderful evening. On our way out, we did notice that some auxiliary dining areas were quite small and we would not have been pleased to have been seated there."

  • "We like to have a nice dinner out to celebrate our anniversary with our kids. This year we chose Rey's. The steak's were absolutely fabulous. My daughter-in-law said it was the best steak she had ever eaten. Our main server Jim was great - very personable. It was obvious that he enjoyed his job and enjoyed people. The owner came by to ask about our food - great touch."

  • "As I had dilly-dallied, had to do Valentine's Day dinner on day after! Really enjoyed getting back to Rey's @ 5:00, very quiet, few people that early. Enjoyed the trickle build-up, seeing the pace p/u after 6:00. We just leaned back & appreciated the wine and food along with appropriate ambiance. Wait staff does fine job. Rey always stops by, says hello."

  • "Rey's provided an outstanding dining experience for us as we celebrated Valentines weekend. Our wait staff was exceptional - taking care of every detail. Drinks were served with just the right touch. I loved the grilled chicken and sausage gumbo! My filet was cooked to perfection as was my husband's Beef Tournedos (filet medallions topped with grilled shrimp). To cap off the evening we finished with Rey's famous bananas foster cooked right at the table."

  • "Was diasappointed that it was a very limited menu for Valentine's day. Only had steak and a couple seafood dishes. Found it interesting that the owner spoke to all the tables around us several times, but it seemed as we were 2 women, he never stopped by until the end and then just breezed by. I don't know...just made us feel kinda left out!! Food was ok, but overpriced for Valentine's day I am sure. Filet was a bit dry. Given all that I will go back sometime...not on Valentine's as I would like to try the lamb and chichen dishes! I do believe in second chances."

  • "For the most part, everything was excellent, EXCEPT for my main entree. However, when the server discovered that it was less than satisfactory, he quickly replaced it with another entree. The owner also came by to apologize - which was impressive."

  • "Nice place for a special occasion, but not sure the prices are warranted. Nearly $200 for two which was comprised of 2 drinks, 2 salads, 2 entrees, 2 desserts. Salads were underwhelming - caesar, mixed greens. Filets weren't cooked as ordered but not to a point where returning them was necessary. Sides are a la carte - garlic mashed and green beans were very tasty. Dessert was delicious -cheesecake and creme brulee. Overall, we enjoyed our meal with very attentive service. With only a couple hiccups that didn't affect our overall experience, I'd recommend Rey's for a special meal."

  • "The food was amazing, our waiter was friendly and knowledgable, the atmosphere was warm and romantic. I have already recommended it to friends for a special occasion dinner. The calamari was honestly the best I've ever had- seriously- it was amazing and I am someone who is typically pretty neutral on calamari."
    Dined on 2/15/2014
  • "Although the environment was beautiful and service was truly amazing the cost of the entree and sides are not worth the cost unless you have an over the top type of income. For example, the $36 8oz fillet mignon taste simply like roast beef and not cooked any specific way, the garlic mashed potatoes tasted great but for $8 dollars there was only two servings. However, The lobster bisque was great."

  • "This was our first time at Rey's. The food was good, the service was good, but it was overpriced for the experience. There are better high-end restaurants in the area at a more reasonable price. Because of that, we probably won't go back."
    Dined on 2/14/2014
  • "Had a good experience. It was a limited menu (to expedite the kitchen?) so not the normal range of options - but still very good. Overall, the service was exceptional and our waiter was very attentive. In fact, everyone was very attentive and friendly. The steak was just OK as were the sides and salads. The wedge salad was huge (half a head of iceberg lettuce) and I wish I had been told - simply couldn't eat it all. The only negative was the amount of time that elapsed between the salad and the entree. If the menu was streamlined to speed up the kitchen, why did it take so long for 2 medium rare steaks and a side dish?"
