The Pink Adobe restaurant stands proudly in the heart of Santa Fe's historic Barrio De Analco neighborhood, which is considered the oldest neighborhood in the US. Founded in 1944 by Rosalea Murphy, an artist and social connector, the restaurant takes its name from the rose-colored adobe plastering on the nearly 400-year-old hacienda that serves as its home. This iconic Santa Fe destination at the heart of the Old Santa Fe Trail has been known for its fun, vibrant atmosphere and outstanding cuisine. Some of the famous well-known dishes are still existing such as the Steak Dunnigan, French Onion Soup and Rosalea's French Apple Pie among with new and innovative creations from our Executive Chef Andrew Fox.

I could write an essay about the nuanced, delicious and very surprising (it literally talks) avocado poblano gazpacho with puffed sugar crystals. The chef is not only creative (and learned in-house), he is the kindest and humblest of men. Service was stellar, too.

I have lived in the Santa Fe area for almost 30 years and I have never dined at The Pink Adobe. I decided it was time to try this restaurant for a birthday celebration dinner. I made a reservation and requested a table in a quiet area because my husband has hearing aids and my mother is 92 years old and has difficulty hearing in crowds. We were seated in a high traffic area right by the entryway. Servers from the kitchen walked by our table constantly with the wooden floor buckling each time making my mother’s chair rock back and forth. We requested a different table and were told nothing was available. Needless to say, it was very noisy and not a pleasant dining experience. The food took over an hour to be served and my son had to ask to have his water refilled - staff was not very attentive. The food was good, but expensive for what we received. I think this will be our first and last visit to The Pink Adobe.

We had an early dinner, first available reservation. It appeared that we may have arrived before the staff received their assigned responsibilities for the evening. Two glasses of wine arrived in a timely fashion but had to wait for a beer which was delivered by a different server. I did not feel welcomed or appreciated by the “team” of people who hosted our experience. Our table was delivered the check before we were offered dessert. We did request the after dinner menu but they failed to return for our order. We left the table and just ordered at the bar in the Dragon Room.

Food was fantastic, and our server was amazing. There was live music on the patio. A perfect anniversary celebration.

For my birthday, my husband and I finally made it to Pink Adobe after living in Santa Fe for 5 years. We were not disappointed! Eating in the lovely old adobe house with its authentic Santa Fe ambiance was a treat, entering the Dragon Room Bar an experience, the patio is lovely, and the food was outstanding. I had the shrimp and grits, and a delicious tomato caprese salad. My husband had French onion soup (the best he ever tasted) and the Donovan steak entree.
