Restaurant IPOFirst time - very good experience!We've wanted to try IPO for awhile and really enjoyed everything! We opted for a variety of tapas and a bottle of Malbec. The sweet potato crawfish stuffed beignets were fabulous. We also tried a duck-filled crepe, blue-cheese frites, and a stuffed mushroom that was delicious and meaty. After trying these items, we noticed many other tapas, soups, salads, and main entrees that we would like to try next time. The atmosphere was open and cool. We sat at the high bar-stool tables in the center and were very comfortable. I've been several times and have tried different things on the menu. For entrees, the duck, the chicken, shrimp and grits, and the Gulf Anduoille are great tasting. And, for dessert, the Fried Cheesecake was amazing! I've never seen it packed with a wait, but that doesn't mean it never happens. I made a reservation. My only complaint there was they put me by the kitchen door. At first, I was going to ask to change tables, but didn't. It ended up not being bad at all.5/24/2013 12:00:00 AMI've been to IPO several timesI've been to IPO several times during the lunch hour and everything has been exceptional. This trip, I had another evening commitment and thought that catching an earlier dinner would be a great idea. My reservation was for 5:00, opening time for the dinner crowd. The entire time we were at the restaurant we were the only ones there. That should have meant exceptional service, but it didn't. It took almost 1/2 hour for us to get our meal. My companion never got the soup that was ordered, and I never got the salad that was supposed to come with my meal. :-(5/21/2013 12:00:00 AMHappily surprisedWe live close by but never have tried this restaurant. We will go back.5/18/2013 12:00:00 AMGreat Food - Slower serviceWe had a large group, so that might have been part of why our service was so slow, but we that was the only complaint during the evening. Almost every dish was excellent and the few misses were just less impressive, not bad. Try some of their house infusions if you feel like enjoying a different and delicious drink! We tried several dishes, chargrilled oysters, scallops, mini tacos, corn and crab bisque, and the shrimp and grits. It was ALL delicious. I liked it so much, I went back on Friday night with my husband! We ordered salads, which were very good. And, we ordered two entrees...the duck with grits and the Gulf Andouille. Both dishes were amazing. Then, topped off the meal with the fried cheesecake!!!! I liked it so much, I made reservations (using Open Table) for a friend's birthday dinner before I left. A very creative menu with lots of options...a foodies paradise. It's very very loud, though. We found each other shouting at each other the entire meal. Days later, I vividly recall the flavors of the fire roasted corn and crab soup; spectacular taste profile--spicy, tempered by rich, creamy broth.
