Diner Reviews
  • "The +++s: Very friendly upon entering and seating us. Entres were delicious. We had the succulent grilled sea scallops and their special, a perfectly cooked seared ahi tuna with mushrooms and vegetable sauce. Ample amount of food--just right. The 2 martini drinks are unusual and very good:lemon drop and agave. The ----s: Must have been 10 minutes to get our drinks, then had to remind the waiter to being the bread promised. Then another wait for bread which was dry and tasteless. The appetizer took about 20 minutes to come of a beet and arugula salad- no dressing on it or on the side although the server thought it was dressed. Not many diners to be that slow in service. A candle would add ambience and carpeting needed to absorb noise."

  • "We had the Will Burger and the scallops. Will was actually a French dip on a bun. Excellent! Scallops were terrific too. We love the calamari app. Very unusual. Calamari with potatoes, bacon and pepperoncini."

  • "4580 is a special restaurant! Both lunches and dinners offer a variety of choices to fit all palates! We always enjoy going to this restaurant and look forward to seeing its owner, James, who makes sure to make each diner's eating experience a most pleasant one. Give this north Boulder restaurant a visit, you will like it!!!"

  • "We eat here somewhat frequently since "discovering it" last year. The menu is always inviting and the food is always well prepared. There are some excellent beers on tap and, though I'm not much of an expert, the wine list seems pretty good to me and fellow diners. There is a good happy hour and the bar at the front of the house is very active. There is a nice separation between the bar area (which has a section of bar tables, by the way) and the sit down restaurant with its large windows facing the Wonderland hills across Broadway. The noise level in that part of the house is much lower relative to a lot of Boulder restaurants. It seems like the ownership, management and staff are seriously paying attention here. Nice place."

  • "Food was sub-par. My calamari was prepared properly, but the potatoes were burned and the flavor profile was mis-matched. Burger was overdone, tasteless. French fries were cooked in old oil and mushy. We were a table of 3, service was slow, waiter forgot beverage that was ordered and in a restaurant with only four other diners at the time. Under previous ownership, we were not overly impressed with the food, and under new ownership, nothing has changed in our experience."

  • "We had a group of seven @ 7. Four of us were delayed due to traffic, but the server made no fuss. There are many delicious gluten free items which was fabulous for our daughter with celiac. Everyone enjoyed their meals. The menu is fairly short, but has a good variety of foods. We had a terrific visit!"

  • "We started with the calamari appetizer. Unusual with potatoes and peppers and grilled squid. Very tasty. I had the steak with fries. My wife had the red trout. Both good dishes. We shared the chocolate torte with ice cream Had to order an extra scoop to finish off the cake. almost too much of a slab of chocolate!"

  • "The food selection is excellent as is the food. Great value. Will definitely be back again often."

  • "My girlfriend and I made reservations expecting a romantic dinner but were surprised when the waiter placed Prix Fixe menus on our table. There was nothing that we wanted on the Valentines Day menu. There was no mention of this on the restaurant's website nor on Open Table, and the restaurant still did not mention it when they called two days ahead to confirm the reservation. Not sure who to blame for that. We each had one drink and walked a block away and had pizza at Protos. Fortunately, we enjoyed it and were able to shrug it off."

  • "I was looking for something different and good and found it. Excellent menu and wine. Only good things to say except the tables were a bit too close together (felt like i was dining with people I didn't know) and the wait between courses was a little long but nothing that ruined the meal. Will definitely return."

  • "My wife and I have frequented 4580 on a number of occasions and have never been disappointed. 4580 is not really a foodie restaurant when compared to other restaurants in Boulder, but it always offers well-prepared meals with fresh ingredients. One of the best things about 4580 - for wine lovers, that is - is the wine list offers a small, but interesting selection of wines that are reasonably priced. Service is always attentive and timely at 4580 and the owner, James, makes you feel welcome. The menu features some fine meals (e.g., short ribs), as well as routine meals (e.g., burgers - though they are more tasty than in a lot of places). The bar is small, but seems to attract a number of people from the neighborhood."

  • "This was our second visit, first was for brunch - this time we wanted to try dinner. As we live south of Boulder it is a bit of a drive to get to 4580 but well worth. The menu is interesting without being too quirky and the execution very good. We like the decor and ambience. We will be back."

  • "We recently went on a double date to 4580 and had a great time. There are all kinds of options for food and, I had the quinoa fritters and goat chees and beet salad. Both had fresh ingredients and yummy flavors. My boyfriend had the burger and said it was the best burger he's ever had - apparently they make the patty out of ground sirloin! Also the pricing was very reasonable. I plan on going back!"

  • "The food was good, but possibly not as special as I remembered from previous pleasant visits. Our group of 8 was crammed around a too small table, and the restaurant, though not packed to the gills, was very loud. It was a special occasion with out of town relatives visiting and I didn't feel that the meal was as special as the occasion deserved. I'd go back for a family meal, or a happy hour date with my husband, but not with a large group."

  • "The food is excellent and menu changes with the seasons. The chef employs local produce and meats when possible. The staff is attentive and the price is fair for what is offered. Highly recommend"

  • "It's great to be able to walk to such a nice restaurant but we would probably go anyway! The food is a mix-most anything you could want and the atmosphere is very pleasant: just noisy enough to be interesting, not overwhelming, good selection; food is usually in the very good range (except the chocolate torte which is outstanding!)"

  • "My wife and I have eaten at 4580 on a number of times and have never been disappointed. I wouldn't call 4580 a "foodie" restaurant, given all of the "foodie" restaurants in Boulder, but it serves up standard fare that is tasty, reasonably priced and well presented. On this visit, I had the short ribs and my wife had the fish. Both were prepared well and served "hot" (a particular requirement of mine). 4580's wine list is not extensive, but it always offers several unusual wines that match well with the food. James, the new owner, makes everyone feel welcome and the wait staff is always attentive and competent. The ambiance is nothing special, but you can relax and have a good meal, without feeling rushed. I highly recommend 4580."

  • "Our second time here. It was a great choice for a Christmas Eve dinner. The prime rid special was excellent and a good value. We drove up to Boulder from out of town, but it was nice to have such easy parking and no crowds. Enjoyed a wonderful evening."

  • "We dine here fairly often and always enjoy whatever we order. The worst we've had is "good, but probably won't order again." We really like the ambiance, the menu variety, not just the food, but the plate sizes. We really like getting three or four small plates and sharing."

  • "My wife and I have been to 4580 on a number of occasions and have consistently had good meals there. The food is well prepared, but I wouldn't call 4580 a "foodie" place compared to other foodie places in Boulder, which are in abundance. Rather, 4580 offers a fairly standard menu at reasonable prices, with a wine list to match. The wait staff is well trained and attentive. The bar is friendly and attracts a decent crowd most nights. My wife had the chicken (tender, moist and tasty) and I had the N.Y. strip (very tasty and done to perfection). The accompanying dishes were fine and matched well with the food. Bottom line: You can have a good meal at 4580 and still end up south of $100.00, with tip. Good value at a comfortable venue."

  • "We went during First Bite Boulder and most of us ordered off the special menu. Squash soup was good but rest of meal was disappointing. Portions were so meager. Chicken dish consisted of one tiny chicken leg and veggies. My 15 yr old was starving after the meal. Owner was snippy and it set the dinner mood to somber for the entire meal Bread given to us at start if meal was also meager and tasteless. My daughters hamburger was dry and tasteless."

  • "Went for a small family birthday celebration. The waitstaff was super attentive and in tune with our needs. Food was tasty, unpretentious and well prepared. Glad we tried this place. It competes well with downtown Boulder"

  • "We went for "First Bite", in part becuase of the good selections of items offerred. We found our entrees OK but not great. The first course of mussels was outstanding. The flavors of gingerm lemon grass, with just a bit of a kick from green chilis, worked well with the mussels - will definitely get that again. The bread pudding dessert was also excellent - we took one home. The service was a little slow, and the tables are close together, so the restaurant was quite noisy. Overall a good experience."

  • "I've been to 4580 a number of times, because I live in the neighborhood. In past years the food was always average at best, but when the place changed owners there was a huge uptick in the quality...sad to say, they didn't maintain that. I had the pappardelle with mushrooms, asparagus, etc. the pasta was gluey and stuck together, the mushrooms were whole, rubbery and had obviously been roasted long in advance of the meal prep, the asparagus was tough and flavorless and there wasn't enough cheese in the dish to hold anything together flavor-wise. The best thing I ate was a potato from my companion's plate. I also ordered a cosmopolitan, which was way too sweet and too pink...a cosmo should be pale pink with a slight fruity sweetness."

  • "Went for First Bite Boulder. Appetizers were good, but the entrees (vegetable risotto and pineapple braised pork shoulder) were fabulous! Wine was also fantastic!"

  • "Noisy, erratic service, food only warm - not hot -- impossible to converse without shouting -- think they were overwhelmed by first-bite crowd"

  • "There are two kinds of restaurants that participate in dining promotions; Ones who are trying to introduce new customers to their establishment and ones trying to make an easy buck. Unfortunately, this was the latter. The food , what there was of it was ok, however, Teeny tiny portions, the fIsh could have been eaten in 3 bites. The rest of the staff could not make up for the indifference and incompetence of our waiter no matter how hard they did try. We were continually left at his mercy by waiting and waiting and ..,,"

  • "When trying a new restaurant, we look for about 5 things. 4580 checked all the boxes. The food was very good, the service from the minute we walked in the door was excellent, the ambience was perfect, the noise level was okay and most importantly, the red wine was served at the right temperature!"

  • "We like this place for casual dining. Tonight was a couple of appetizers apiece. I had the flatbread and a salad. My wife had the wontons and quinoa balls. All were great. Service was prompt and friendly."

  • "Under the original owner, we were regulars, until the service began to deteriorate, and we stopped going. Alas, the food was always excellent, but why pay premium prices and not get the attentive service that should go with it. When the restaurant changed hands we decided to go back. Again, the same great, high end food, but with low end service--and the place wasn't even busy. We are fussy, but I still think that the servers have no business bringing out the entrees, before we were done with our appetizers. Also, the restaurant was practically empty, but a party of three was placed immediately adjacent to us, somewhat crowding us in. Come on guys--look and think!"
