Diner Reviews
  • "We made reservations and were seated right when we came in. Menu needs a little more for the person who doesn't each fish. We had a group of 5 people, and 2 were not interested in fish. The food seemed to take quite awhile to get to our table, but the restaurant was very busy so very understandable. When you are in great company and having some tasty drinks, it was hardly noticeable. Our waitress Sonja was very friendly and personable. This restaurant was recommended by one of the employees and we will definitely be back, but maybe just for the drinks and appetizers. As for the food that was ordered, it was good, but think the appetizers were superb."

  • "Incredible restaurant. Outstanding seafood. Awesoome service. Both the signature Red Fish and the Swordfish were absolutely top-notch. The only downside is that it's quite loud. Our group of four was seated at a great booth at the rear, at the kitchen window area, which appears to be one of the quieter areas, and conversation was difficult."

  • "I ordered the snapper with ginger wasabi sauce on the side . The very best!! Booked through open table & got a great reservation while walk ins were 45 min wait."

  • "There were 6 of us in booth and we are not quiet people, but we could not hear each other. We also had a hard time hearing our server who I'm sure she had a hard time hearing us esp since she was wearing a hearing aid. The place was very busy. Our meals were good but not hot and light on vegetables. There is better food in town but not many restaurants were not taking reservations during french quarter fest and we needed a reservatuon. I did end up suggesting the place to someone later over the weekend because of the ability to accommodate a reservation for 6."

  • "This place is reliably great - both the food and service and I have never had a bad meal there. The seafood is always fresh and wonderfully prepared. It's a great choice for a group with diverse palates or children with limited palates! Definitely make a reservation though as it's always busy."

  • "Great meal !!!! Highly recommend the BBQ Oysters --- the sauce, made with Crystal Hot Sauce --- is excellent."

  • "Great selection of fresh local seafood and wonderful side dishes. I really enjoyed the grilled shrimp. The waitress warned me that they arrive with the heads still attached but that doesn't bother me. Nice dining experience."

  • "Was very disappointed with the service had 2 send food back twice and the third time waited over 20 minutes for meal had to speak to management. Ate their 2 years ago when there for business and that is why went back.NO WAY, NEVER again your dollar goes further with service and food quality elsewhere ie, Muriels"

  • "The food was fresh, great service. I had their special Redfish and it ranks as one of my favorite tasting food. I changed out the potatoes for the smashed cauliflower and brussel sprouts - the server did not blink an eye at my request. It was outstanding.Service was fast despite the filled restaurant and prices were reasonable."

  • "I went to eat here a few days ago and loved it. The food was fantastic and the French bread served with butter before the meal was phenomenal. Our servers name was Andrew and he was great. He automatically gave us his suggestions on drinks and entrees and I happen to choose his entree choice which was the wood grilled red fish and lump crabmeat. Oh my god it was the best redfish I've ever had. Excellent selection of cocktails and wines and everything priced moderately. Would definitely recommend this restaurant."

  • "Silly us we thought when the server said "soup or salad with that" that she meant it was included with the entree! We were surprised when the bill came! Other than that, it was a really good experience!"

  • "Red Fish is a very large, very loud restaurant in a good location on Bourbon Street. Food was good and service was attentive, but restaurant is very loud and very busy and chaotic. I would not return."

  • "The food was very good. Grilled shrimp excellent. However when we arrived 5 minutes before our reservations we were given a number and escorted to the bar to wait. After 40 minutes of waiting and our number not shown on the board I went to ask if I had missed our number being called. Without explanation we were seated right away."

  • "The food was excellent got the blackened salmon for an entree and then got the double chocolate bread pudding. Overall everything was just perfect only negative I would give is that they don't validate parking."

  • "What a pleasure to walk into a beautiful restaurant with beautiful! Cam, our waiter, treated us like long lost friends. The food was spectacular and the ambience was perfect! What a great Nwe Orleans experience! I'll tell all my friends it's not to be missed!"

  • "Friends in New Orleans recommended the Red Fish Grill. We took them up on the recommendation and was extremely pleased."

  • "They seated us at a table in a doorway between rooms. Was so loud we and our server had to yell to communicate. She forgot for 20 minutes to bring our drinks, never checked on us after food arrived. We waited 20 minutes for the check. Servers bumped our chairs constantly as they walked around us (there should never have been a table there, honestly). The room on one side of the doorway had three large (12+) groups; maybe that's why service was inattentive to a party of 4. Menu SO overpriced for mediocre, chain restaurant food (gumbo and BBQ oysters were delicious but how hard is it to get gumbo right in NOLA?). Otherwise, ech. Our other five dinners during the trip were amazing; was a shame to end on such a woeful note."

  • "I had the grilled red fish with crabmeat and it was delicious. My husband had crabcakes which were equally as good. The chocolate bread pudding is an absolute must for dessert. Our waiter Ike was fantastic...entertaining and very knowlegeable about the food at Red Fish Grill. The whole dining experience was great!"

  • "It was recommended by a co-worker, and he did not disappoint. The ratings are true--very, very good food, but very, very loud location. If you're on Bourbon to get the ambience of the "scene", then that should not matter to you. I had the grilled salmon with the vinaigrette dressing. Delicious! My co-worker had the shrimp with bar-b-que dressing. She didn't leave anything behind but the shells. Pecan dessert finished it well! definitely recommend!"

  • "While walking down Bourbon Street in New Orleans we stopped to read menus on the numerous restaurants. Red Fish Grill caught our attention because it had a large number of fish to select from that were cooked on a wood fired grill. The fish could be pared with a wide variety of interesting sauces ~ Lemon Rosemary Worcestershire & Ginger-Soy Green Onion, to name a few. Both of our meals were excellent. The service was wonderful & our server was very knowledgeable on the menu options. Our only complaint was that it was a little noisy. We would definitely go back & would recommend it to others."

  • "If you're visiting New Orleans and Bourbon Street, make sure to have dinner here first, then head out for the night. The Red Fish special along with a side of red beans and rice is the best."

  • "I made a reservation on a Thursday for 8 pm. The place was packed to the gills. I tried to order their signature Red Fish and they had run out at 8 pm, really??? I settled for the tuna it was mediocre at best. I would not recommend this place..."

  • "Fun place with great service and wonderful food choices. Good location near the end of Bourbon street. Combines all ingredients to compliment the atmosphere in New Orleans. Highly recommend it."

  • "Shrimp were way overcooked. Not very big but cooked to tough and rubbery. Oysters were also, small, batter was ok, but sauce was not good."

  • "Gotta admit I did not have high expectations for the restaurant which was adjacent to the Hyatt we stayed at on Bourbon Street between the Hard Rock Cafe and the Hustler Store. However, truth be told I enjoyed my meal (gumbo and redfish with crabmeat) more then the 3 very we'll known restaurants i visited during the trip. It was also, by far, the least expensive of these meals to boot. While the atmosphere doesn't scream fine dining, this was the unanimous favorite of our family for the trip and will be on our list of places we'd eat again at in a heartbeat."

  • "I enjoyed the food very much. The service was too rushed. Did not finish salad before main entree was served."
    Dined on 3/22/2014
  • "I've eaten at many New Orleans "fine dining" restaurants and this was way overpriced for the product. Portions were not large enough to substantiate the high prices. No sides with the entrée was disappointing. The wine was good, still over priced. I usually never finish a plate of food and always am taking home leftovers; not here, I was still hungry when I left. Not enough bang for your buck!"

  • "We lucked upon an early open reservation, trying to get a little grub before heading to see Elton John. It was gonna be a good night. Well it got even better upon our arrival. Our waiter IKE was the man ya hear. He was so informative and was right on with every description and taste. Started with the barbecue oyster. Oh yea you must try them. Wow is all i can say. Then onto the RG house salad which was a nice tasty fresh crisp treat. Then onto our entrees. I had the grilled black drum served atop sautéed greens and butternut squash and the hubs had the grilled sheepshead on top sautéed greens and butternut squash. Im still on a food high. The atmosphere was cool and bustling and Ike is a must to request if you go."

  • "From NYC, when I spend a certain amount of money on dinner, I expect fresh ingredients. This restaurant is highly rated on Opentable and i really don't understand why that is. A fish (decently good), with frozen peas and frozen potatoes, a mediocre (too salty) sauce for $33, a very tiny salad for $12. This is really unacceptable. The waiters would have been good if in a dinner, but definitely not for a restaurant that pretends to be upscale. Only plus-es, it is in the middle of the very touristy Bourbon street, and it is open late."
