Diner Reviews
  • "This is great for a date night spot. Delicious food and great ambiance!"

  • "This was my second "girls night" outing to Rasika and I have yet to find a fault. One MUST - the Palak Chaat appetizer. Who knew that spinach could taste so good? We've tried a good sampling of the menu, to include tandoori, chicken, lamb, duck, and seafood dishes. I am not particularly fond of lamb, but both of the bites I tried could easily convert me. Same for the duck plate. Everything is so incredibly flavorful with a nice heat to it, but not so much that you are uncomfortable or miss the taste of the food. The cocktails are also amazing - love the Chili Fizz and tequila-based cocktail. It's impossible to recommend a specific dish because they are all that good, so go with a group of friends and explore the menu!"

  • "This restaurant is absolutely amazing. The service was flawless and the food was beyond compare. "

  • "It was our first time here and heard about this place so we finally able to book a table . We celebrated our 32 years anniversary dinner here and it was an amazing experience . The food was delicious and a very friendly staff . We truly enjoyed the place and we plan on coming back soon! "

  • "We love the food at Rasika but don't accept a table up front near or behind reception. The room behind reception is more like a small party room. Three of us were seated at a table for 6 or 8 people. Worse, you are out of sight and therefore out of mind, which made service unresponsive and dishes brought in a few hurried passes. A disappointing visit. "

  • "Was visiting D.C. and hears great things about this restaurant. Tried to get an evening reservation but they were booked solid for two weeks. Was fortunate to get a lunch reservation...it was well worth it!!"

  • "The food was mostly fabulous, and the setting attractive, but there were a lot of "buts." Too dark to read the menu, too loud to have a conversation, and decidedly child unfriendly. (When a place doesn't have a single booster seat, it's because it wants no kids.) Given the price and having to reserve way in advance, I can't see myself coming back."

  • "This restaurant is amazing. Everything we ordered was delicious. I will never visit Washington DC without going here."

  • "Our daughter and son-in-law gave us a gift certificate for Rasika in 2012 but because of the restaurant's deserved popularity, we weren't able to get in despite several attempts. Finally, I was able to get an 8:15 reservation and it was well worth the wait and the effort. The food is amazing and the service impeccable. It was a wonderful experience. "

  • "This is a special place for lovers of Indian cuisine with something traditional and something new. All excellently prepared and served. Been before, definitely will go back when in DC."

  • "This is fine-dining Indian food at it's finest. It's many steps above the usual Indian food experience. The four-course tasting menu gives you a wide variety of the chef's creativity. And who would think that a wine pairing would work here, but it shines. The service was outstanding and well-paced."

  • "It is always a pleasure to dine at Rasika. It is the best Indian food in town. "

  • "We thoroughly enjoyed our dinner at Rasika! From the moment we walked in the door until we left everything was perfect. Our waitress could not have been more attentive and was willing to help us with menu selections. She never appeared rushed or hurried. The restaurant is in a great location and we were able to have a quiet dinner. Our food was just a little bit of heaven. "

  • "Rasika is one of my favorite restaurants in DC for a special occasion. The food is so interesting and I love how the waiters explain, in detail, what you are eating. It's a bit expensive (but totally worth it), or else I would eat here at least once a week! "

  • "I loved every dish I ordered - especially the Palak Chaat!!! I just wish I could have licked the bowl :)"

  • "A group of us travel annually from California to Washington. Rasika has been the highlight of our trip for the past three years. The food is unbelievably (almost indescribably) delicious, and the service can not be beat. The crispy spinach is out of this world."

  • "What wonders we had to eat, and watched as they were served to other tables! The food was extraordinary. The three standout items for me were the crispy, sweet spinach appetizer (palak chaat), the baked cod main course (melt in your mouth, easily the best fish I've had, ever), and the cardamom ice cream (unusual, sweet, spicy, smooth, memorable). We reserved our table a month ahead of time for a Saturday night before a play, and even given that early planning, could not get our first choice time of 6:00, but 5:30 worked well after all. The waiter was very attentive and enthusiastic about the food.Outstanding."

  • "Rasika remains a wonderful dining experience. I would skip the house specialty cocktails and head straight to the wine list, which is pricey but full of interesting choices. There is no better Indian food to be had in DC. Between meals here I remember fondly the spinach appetizer and it's enough to draw me back repeatedly. (Waiter: "Do you want to share?" Everyone at table: "NO! We each want one.") If you haven't eaten here, you should. If you have, you know what I mean when I say it is very special!"

  • "Even though Rasika was as busy as usual, service was excellent. The Birihani dish was presented in an unique way - finished in the oven, with a crust! Now, if we are ever able to get a dinner reservation .........."

  • "Everything was awesome. The cod was amazing. I have never had a fish so well cooked (and I've dined at many of the top seafood restuarants in the world). Highly recommend."

  • "This was not our first time at Rasika, but we seem to be more impressed each time we go. It is truly a top restaurant, both for the incredible food and spectacular service. Our waiter, Isaiah, was perfect - very knowledgeable, helpful and attentive without being intrusive. The food is the best Indian I have ever had, even in India. And the $35 pre-theatre menu is a wonderful bargain, with more than we could eat. The drinks and wine were lovely, even the rice was perfect! I can't say enough about what a great restaurant this is."

  • "I go there for specific things-- palak chaat, chicken tikka masala & lamb chops. I have never been disapponted. I've treid many other menu items- but these 3 are always on my list of must haves each & every time."

  • "We have been trying to go to Rasika for a while now, because so many friends told us great things. We managed to finally get a reservation at 9:15pm on a Wednesday, and we had high expectations. The dishes were loaded with salt (and I eat quite salty). It is easy to make "yummy" dishes when loading them with salt, but taste in food should come from the fool, not from the salt. The highlight of the meal was the mango tarte tatin (not really an Indian dish), which was very good, followed by the chicken tikka. Everything else was just ok. There are many more Indian restaurants which provide tastier more authentic food, and don't give you a heart attack. Won't be back."

  • "I have been to Rasika three times now over the past 3 years when visiting Washington DC. Their food is exquisite, service impeccable, and wine list extensive and well-suited to the menu. Not only is this the best Indian restaurant I have ever experienced, but Rasika ranks among my all time best 10 restaurants period! Rasika should be a mandatory part of any Washington DC itinerary!"

  • "Love this restaurant. The spinach dish was incredible. We had a selection of appetizers and a couple of main entrée curries and all was delicious. Service was great. Will go back again when I'm in DC. Get reservations early as they are always booked!"

  • "This was my first time visiting an Indian restaurant and I must say that I enjoy every second we were there. Our reservation was at 8:45, unfortunately we arrived 5 mins late but the hostess was so understanding and friendly AND they still had our table ready. The table was beautifully arranged and set apart from other guest, lighting was low and very romantic, the food was "oh so tasty" and our waiter was very attentive...my husband always told me "there is more to life than just French fries", I think he's correct because I'm hooked on Rasika!!"

  • "Rasika is a great restaurant for wonderful food. The fried spinach alone is worth the trip. My friend is primarily vegetarian and she did not lack for options. The waiter was a stand-out when it came to service. Very enjoyable dining experience."

  • "This restaurant is extremely overrated . I cannot believe it generates the attention it does"

  • "We were excited to dine at the original Rasika after having a dinner of a lifetime at the newest Rasika in the West End. What a disappointment. We had a lovely table for four by the front window, but the noise was deafening and almost impossible to hear each other at the table. Our food was good, but each dish took forever to arrive and our waitress rarely stopped by other than to apologize for the wait. One dish arrived nearly at the end of our meal. The restaurant is charming and the menu is fantastic, but execution among the wait staff needs to improve."

  • "I heard wonderful things about Rasika and so glad I could confirm them! When you go, two words: palak chat! Our server was friendly, the food was delicious and reasonably priced. Can't wait to dine there again!"

  • "From the moment I walked in until the moment I left, Rasika provided a wonderful experience. The entire staff was professional and curteous including our server, Issayas, as well as the hostesses and managers. I feel that this service accompanied with the great food makes Rasika a genuinely superb restaurant and a must visit! I will most certainly return!"

  • "I went for an early dinner before a show at the theater next door. Rasilka has a great prix fixe menu for the early dinner crowd (before 6:30). Thee courses for $35. I was with 2 friends so we basically ordered one of almost everything from the appetizer, entree and dessert menu. Service was attentive and impeccable. the FOOD was amazing. one of the things I like most about Raskia is the nuance of flavors and spices. while things have a kick to them, the heat doesn't overwhelm the complex flavors of the food. Also: the prix fixe menu is a lot of food, folks. we were stuffed!"

  • "Wait staff was very attentive without being intrusive. Food was outstanding. When our server found out it was our anniversary he made sure to give us amazing service but still gave us plenty of time alone together. Cannot recommend highly enough."
