  • "Great decor. Great service. Food was good with some minor issues. Wine was served too warm. Octopus was tough. But overall pretty good food for Palm Springs. We were there early on a Saturday night and the noise level went from quiet (and romantic) to painfully high (and annoying). I might try it again early on a weekday night to see if the noise level is more acceptable."

  • "I have dined here twice in June , each time with the same welcomed professional service. The Ambiance was inviting from the hot Palm Springs air. The service was friendly and professional . The food recommendations were honest on both what they thought for the night and what we described as wanting. As my friend is a vegetarian, they were accommodating with side dishes from all entrees, not just an assortment of vegetables, the chef has a flair.... The salads were crisp. the steak and lobster special divine and our waiters wine choice great.. Tucked away from the downtown area it is a little hard to find , but well worth it...."

  • "We love Purple Palm. We go there for special occasions as much as just for dinner. It's consistently delicious, and the service is always warm, knowledgeable and efficient. The staff goes out of the way to anticipate and satisfy customer needs. I love LOVE LOVE the lamb sirloin; it's one of the main reasons I go there, plus the gorgeous setting outside, intimate (the lovely courtyard with vintage swimming pool) and expansive (the mountain views). The new chef is starting to make his mark, and we loved his halibut. We hear he might nix the lamb sirloin. PLEASE don't!!!"

Everything was fabulous ...the wedding took over the entire hotel so had several meals ..including a sit down wedding dinner for 150 people..it was fabulous ..the wait staff and bartenders all stellar in manners and service!   • "Having been a faithful Purple Palm customer going there and average of at least monthly during season and sometimes as much as twice a week, all I can say is the new chef is a big disappointment, but that possibly could have been an off night. What is unforgivable was the arrogant attitude of the new Host manning the reception. He rudely told us that our preferred outside table was not available (the first time in 15 visits that has ever happened, made up some story and then stuck us in a corner. It turned out they must have had a far more lucrative reservation for a large birthday party that arrived two hours later, but his attitude about the whole thing was completely out of keeping with the PP as it once was.."

  • "What can I say absolutely amazing!! Walking through the court yard into the restaurant after dark could not of made this experience any better, it was all most enchanting like. Entering the foyer of the restaurant, the decor is stunning! You almost forget that it's 2014 and not the summer of 1938. Our host and server sat us promptly after arriving. The service was exceptional and didn't fall short of anything but exceptional, and our server was great! The menu has a quaint array of tapas style offerings, cheese plate market price, a grilled Caesar salad, fresh oysters on the half shell and braised short rib something for every one. The food also did not fall short, perfect portions for a hot night. My husband and I will be back."

  • "The restaurant has indoor seating and a lovely poolside outdoor setting. Upon entering the restaurant, we were greeted by a very welcoming hostess and seated at a very nice table poolside. Our server Brian was five star. He was friendly, professional and took great care of us. Prior to dinner we ordered a Martini—and it was a great one. The meal left something to be desired. We found the dinner menu uninspiring and ordinary. I ordered the "Grilled Pork Tenderloin" and it was overcooked, dry and not very tasty. My husband ordered the "Short Ribs" and he enjoyed his meal. We think that this would be a great place for "Happy Hour," not for dinner. Dinner for two (Martini, dinner, 1 glass wine) totaled $141.18. "

  • "The setting is spectacular: outdoors facing the pool with a backlit hotel and the mountains in the distance--really breathtaking. Unfortunately, the food and wine on a weeknight were not at the same level of excellence. When the high point of a $200 dinner is the olives, something is wrong with the kitchen. The lamb loin was beautifully seasoned but served cold ( I was afraid to send it back for reheating because it would become overcooked), and the cioppino was missing its saffron so the broth looked like dishwater. The wine list was thoughtful, but the bottle we ordered had dropped its fruit indicating that they could have problems with their storage (as in, overheated). A drink at sunset, with olives, might be a better option here."

  • "The perfect picture of classic California Spanish style décor. The service is slow. First visit we were seated 1 hour late. Second time, we the restaurant wasn't full, but it took forever to serve each course. We were there over an hour before our salads were served. I complained to our waiter, he agreed that it was too long, but that didn't change anything. When we finished our salads, they said that our entrees were being plated and would be out shortly. Got them 20 minutes later. So for an 8:00 reservation, we got finished by 10:30. They offered comp'd desert to make up for the wait, but I didn't want to have to wait another 30 minutes to get it. Will be back, but eat a late lunch beforehand."

  • "We checked into the Colony Palms Hotel late Saturday morning. While waiting for our room we had lunch at the Purple Palm. Seated by the pool under the boldly striped canopy, enjoyed a terrific meal. Fun, hip and delish without trying too hard. Highly recommend the lavender mojito, grilled ceasar salad, truffle fries- omg. We were so relaxed and happy, decided to stay at the hotel for dinner. Again another great experience. Do not miss the fried avocados. The sea scallops were perfectly cooked. Excellent wine list. When it came time for dessert, we were a bit tired after a day in the sun, the server offered to send our freshly baked chocolate chip cookies to our room, perfection."

  • "Fun atmosphere in Downtown Palm Springs. Set in a spanish colonial style courtyard with poolside bar, the Purple Palm has a vibrant, colorful atmosphere. Service was very attentive and friendly but professional. Food was delicious. Definitely try the bouillabaisse, it was remarkable! The hanger steak was also very good. We had dessert of a bread soaked in creme brulee with side of reduced blueberries. All very good."
