Diner Reviews
  • "The setting - classic Beverly Hills, with a great history and exquisite period decor - is perfect. It is therefore literally tragic that the cuisine would be so bad. Why is the chef cooking Middle American banalities that are barely edible? Be prepared for $55 tough steaks, $20 Caesar salad with limp iceberg lettuce, and watery bouillon pretending to be lobster bisque."

  • "Wonderful food, ambiance, atmosphere and service. Lovely outdoor setting. You never feel rushed and are always cared for in a professional and warm manner. I mean it's the Beverly Hills Hotel...what could be better!!"

  • "The Polo Lounge at the Beverly Hills Hotel features a classic atmosphere that is truly old time Hollywood/Los Angeles. It's a great location for a special occasion such as an anniversary. It is pricey, but worth every dime for the experience, impeccable service, and attention to detail. Every visit I make to Los Angeles includes a stop at the Polo Lounge."

  • "The venue is lovely and old school charm. Service is warm and friendly. The cappuccino I had was very average and the oats cold. The gluten free pancakes my son had were delicious. Would definitely recommend the venue."

  • "I had been here before a few years back and found the place even better this time. We visited this time for my friends 60ths birthday and she was very pleased. What mostly impressed her is how we were not rushed. We stayed at the table a full two hours enjoying the very pretty environment."

  • "Daughter is on spring break and we opted for a day trip. We started with Bloody Mary, I have not had such a tasty drink in a while, the right mix of liquor, mix and spices. Daughter had the salmon and I had the steak sandwich. We finished every bit of it. The bread basket .. Yum! Couldn't leave without dessert... Berry cobbler and strawberry panna cotta. The service was spot on. First time visit."

  • "From the minute we sat down until we sat down, really bad!! Took forever for waiter to greet us!! Ordered chocolate croissant and juice drink and NEVER CAME!! Then our Lemon pancakes were small and not hot, ordered more coffee and never came along with the waiter. Finally got coffee AND HE FINALLY BROUGHT THE JUICE DRINK AND INSTEAD OF WHAT WE ORDERED HE BROUGHT MY HUSBAND a Bloody Mary!!! Very disappointing because one of our favorite places for breakfast in Beverly Hills!!"

  • "I visited the Polo Lounge while on a girl's vacation with my girlfriend and my two daughters. It was one of the things I wanted to see, and we were not disappointed. The ambience of the hotel was amazing, the restaurant was good, but our waiter was outstanding. He took time talking with us, telling us about the hotel and the area in general, and even took our picture for us. The valet was courteous as well. I would definitely go back, hopefully for a Sunday Brunch if I'm ever in town on a Sunday. It is pricey for what you get, but it is the Beverly Hills Hotel, so you would expect it."

  • "Nobody doesn't like the Polo Lounge! All the glamour of Beverly Hills, all the beauty of a treasured California landmark, and absolutely no negative attitude whatsoever. As usual the service was unimpeachable: attentive, friendly, not overbabearing. The oysters were top notch, the new artichoke soup was delicious! The Lobster salad was perfect, and the double chocolate cake divine! And that's just what I had! My dining companions swooned over their meals as well! Truly worth the expense for an a fun and fabulous breakfast, brunch, lunch or late dinner. I love this place and always feel special there!"

  • "Everything you think it will be and more...food is incredible and the service impeccable. Yes, its pricey but worth every penny as you're also paying for a classic experience. I"d go again in a heartbeat."

  • "I have been there several times; however today The Polo outdid themselves. We had a fantastic table inside but with a view of the garden, the service was beyond, I had the lobster salad and it is a whole lobster declawed on a bed of greens, cabbage and almonds - go for it - and the ambiance - beyond! It was a special occasion as it was my friend's birtheday. She had the McCarthy salad which was also divine. But the best part was the beautiful display for her birthday. Presentation was a red velvet cupcake with happy birthday written in chocolate surrounded with strawberries. Treat yourself to lunch - it is well worth every penny....or should I say pennies! Pricey but you are treated like a queen!!!"

  • "This is a longtime gem of a restaurant. The food, service, people watching, ambiance is wonderful! The salads are great and the burgers fabulous. I have never had a bad meal here in 19 years!"

  • "It was a Friday birthday lunch for my friend. The waiter surprised us by bringing a candle lit Red Velvet cup cake for dessert. A lovely gesture by the staff. In the next booth, actor Nicholas Cage was giving an interview to a journalist, talking up his latest project. Just another day in L.A. We had fun!"

  • "The ambiance of the Polo Lounge is old Los Angeles. Something that is a rare find these days! It is a treat and lovely retreat to enjoy for lunch or dinner. The food is always delicious with impeccable service. The dining room has a piano bar, which adds to the atmosphere."

  • "The patio area is absolutely gorgeous. My wife, my 3 year old daughter and myself were treated like royalty. It is very pricy though. I don't complain about the price but figure that others may want to know what they are getting themselves into. A glass of Mimosa runs 17 dollars each. The breakfast that includes eggs, 2 bacons, and 3 dollar pancakes and hashbrowns runs 34 dollars. With 4 Mimosas and breakfast for 3 it came out to 170 dollars. With tip was 201 dollars. Probably the most expensive breakfast I have ever had. All in all it was just the same I would have gotten at IHOP but the ambiance was fabulous."

  • "We spent our last evening at Polo Lounge with our two teenagers for dinner. I was pleasantly surprised at the vibrant scene in tue lounge and dining area. The food was wonderful and all our servers were fabulous. My husband and I had a yummy bottle of wine suggested by the sommelier, and our waiter couldn't have been nicer. I ws a little worried that it would be a little stuffy for our 16 year olds, but they really enjoyed dressing up a bit and experiencing everything. The crowd is mixed with both young and older patrons as well as celebs. This is an expensive place, but it is worth it. We felt that everyone was so nice and wanted to make us feel special---not just another family of out of town tourists."

  • "Well what si not to love about The Polo Lounge, it is located in the iconic Beverly Hills Hotel and the outdoor garden is gorgeous on a lovely day for brunch! Also had drinks in the bar a fews nights, there is a piano player, playing live music and the bar man knew a thing or 2 about making a cocktail! Food and service were amaxing, would highly recommend!"

  • "This is one of the best restaurants in the country. Reviews aren't necessary. The Beverly Hills Hotel pampers you from the minute you walk in the door and the Polo Lounge is no exception. It's a long way from Philly to LA but I hope to return soon for the hotel and the Polo Lounge, which by the way has a wonderful breakfast too."

  • "It was a great experience overall. Great food and service. We will be definitely back (in better weather) to enjoy the outdoors of the restaurant. Jazz added a nice touch to the brunch. Washrooms are impecable; the crowd is A plus."

  • "We have brunch or breakfast at the Polo Lounge on a regular basis as it is a peaceful and relaxing place to enjoy a nice breakfast and quiet conversation. The service is exceptional and the location is simply lovely. I would recommend the french press coffee and pastry sampler as a great beginning. Good food, fresh squeezed juices, good cocktails and sometimes live music and if you are into it, occasionally celebrity sitings. We just enjoy the peace and quiet coupled with outstanding service."

  • "Great location, wonderful ambiance, super great service. And $120++ for three people eating breakfast -- a total of 6 eggs, two coffees, two OJs, one milk, and two sides of bacon. You can do the math. It's crazy"

  • "We love to visit the Polo Lounge every time we are vacationing in L.A. Lunch is always our favorite as we can enjoy the beautiful patio and romantic setting. The steak tartare is the best but you can not go wrong with anything on the menu. Service top notch, great food, beautiful setting...... Thanks again for another fantastic dining experience!"

  • "The food was insipid. No flavor whatsoever in either of our meals. I've eaten more flavorful meals at restaurants in food courts. And at a significantly lower price mind you. I don't mind spending money for a fine dining experience as long as the food and service is tantamount to the price. I feel though like I simply burned two crisp C notes at this restaurant for a party of two. On a positive note, however, the service was excellent."

  • "I didn't know what to expect. My spouse frequents Polo lounge as I see from receipts. Went with colleague. The outdoor dining area near pool was immaculate n manicured. The dimly lit, trendy, powerhouse bar run by Pepe was vibrant and without doubt a highlight of the hotel with the beautiful waitstaff/hosts. Enjoyed rich butternut squash tortellini, medley of textures n flavored in a finely chopped salad, airy shaved Parmesan truffle fries, n a delish homemade pink palace sundae. Only to see a 50's style diner in the hotel too that missed with an impressive array of cakes, pies, etc."

  • "Thanks to Open Table we were able to celebrate our 18th wedding anniversary. When I called I told them it was our 18th anniversary. The hostess told me that they didn't have anything available until 9pm. Based on what i learned in another review, I used open table and got a reservation for 6pm. I have no idea why they would turn me down on the phone, but accept an internet reservation. I had the Lamb chops-they were outstanding. My wife ordered the soup and thought it was amazing. In my opinion, the most important part of a restaurant is the quality of their bread. The bread was outstanding. The home made ice cream was mediocre at best. For $14 it should have been at least as good as what I can make at home."
