Diner Reviews
  • "Salad first had all the worst bitter parts of lettuce, but they replaced it with an excellent one. First swordfish was not cooked completely, but they replaced it with one excellently done. Gave me desert for free. Most placed do not make that kind of effort."

  • "I have been to Park Avenue eight or nine times previously and had to wait in the bar area until our table was ready. The bartender kept having to find to find a clean glass to use to pour a drink. I stood at the bar and waited a very long time to get a drink because every time a server came with an order, I waited and waited. A lady came by to help him and totally ignored me. I probably waited for at least 10 minutes."

  • " As always the food is way above average. St Lois bacon on burger, fresh veggies from the garden, and seasonings are perfected to an art form. Pot pie is a special treat. Impeccable dining experience."

  • "This was my second time here and I really don't understand all the hype about this place. The service was very slow and considering there was only one other table occupied there is really no excuse for the slowness. I ordered a glass of prosecco and upon receiving my bill found that I had been overcharged. I'd already paid and it was only a dollar overcharge I didn't make an issue of it. The food was bland and average at best. I don't think there will be a 3rd visit."

  • "We were really looking forward to checking out Park Ave. My fish was excellent but the caprese salad with tomatoes from their garden that weren't ripe so it was lackluster. The reason that I will not return is that I told our waiter several times about my daughter's life threatening nut allergy. When he brought the bread basket, I asked him if there were nuts in the bread. He went back to the kitchen and checked - then he gave us the green light. After enjoying the bread, you can imagine how I felt to discover HALF OF A WALNUT sitting in the bottom of the basket. Had my three year old found that it could have been deadly. He said he was sorry but I just can't take the chance of dining somewhere where this could happen."

  • "The food was amazing and the service was very good. My only complaint was the noise level and the table next to us had a medium/large group with very loud children. I don't know why people bring small children who have not learned how to use their "indoor" voices to such a nice restaurant. I was treating my neighbor to dinner on Thursday night for all the nice things he's done for me. He and I were having trouble carrying on a conversation because of the loud young children - the parents/adults at the table were basically ignoring them. I don't know what Park Ave can do to prevent that in the future but it was unfortunate for myself and my neighbor."

  • "We went to Park Ave for our 10th anniversary based on a recommendation from a friend. She said not to judge by the outside (it a little tired). Glad we went! Amazing food and service. They also have their own fresh garden where you can stroll thru with your wine. Highly recommend for a special occasion or to impress business clients."

  • "David Slay has outdone himself. 3 different meals, all a home run hit. The service was excellent. This restaurant's dishes are consistently flavorful, unique, and well presented. My husband is still talking about the St Louis bacon on his hamburger. lovely experience."

  • "Our visit did not meet Park Ave's usual standards. Our seating was a large table set right between two narrow aisles and the kitchen. Had they moved the table to one side we wouldn't have been getting bumped and pushed by passers-by. They weren't crowded so they didn't need to use that table. Our waitress needed more training. One cocktail we contemplated was made with sherbet of the day and when asked what flavor that was, we were told "you know, sherbet" and she couldn't be more specific (the dessert menu said it was orange sherbet). She couldn't get one of cocktails right after three tries. She forgot to take one person's order and basically ignored us: slow to take our order and bring dishes. Food was good, but pork steaks were tough."

  • "Il Garage was a disappointment. Good service & a lovely garden view didn't make up for an overpriced, limited and uninspired menu."

  • "It was our anniversary and we wanted to treat ourselves to a romantic dinner. We had dinner at Il Garage and got more than expected. The scenery was perfect with the views of the garden, low candle lights and over the top delicious food. Everything was five star in our book. Excellent service, delicious food and romantic ambiance."

  • "My friends and I have been to Park Ave before, this was our first time dining at il garage. The food was great, although the beets appetizer could have used a few more beets - had we known there were so few, we would have ordered another to share. All in all everything was very tasty and the entrees were wonderful. We especially enjoyed having the salad greens and vegetables fresh from the PAG."

  • "Food and service have been consistently great since it opened. Great retro look, a vegetable garden to die for and a friendly staff, what could be better."

  • "Went here on a recommendation from a friend. At our table were three professionals, one with a doctorate degree , one engineer and one educator. with more years of fine dining experience in their younger years put together then the age of the person who waited on us. Two with fine dining managerial experience. One also had a culinary arts background. All except the engineer, knows the restaurant business "back to front". "

  • "Excellent atmosphere for lunch or dinner. Can't wait to go back and dine al fresco! Food is amazing, especially the homemade Chicken Pie. Take a few minutes after eating to visit the garden. Organic vegetables and herbs complete with a tour from the gardener Candice. "

  • "I was there for lunch and asked for seating outside while we were there the gardners were working on the propery behind the restuarant. The noise made it almost imposible to have a conversations. The food was excellant the waitress made several recommendations. "

  • "This was our fourth or fifth meal at Park Ave. We enjoyed it very much, but the service was not up to what we experienced previously. Specifically, the waiter did not know his "stuff" very well, and he often seemed unsure of himself. He had a nice personality, and he apologized profusely when he did something wrong. But he wasn't the outgoing, knowledgeable server that we have come to expect at Park Ave."

  • "We arrived on time and were seated at a table at the entrance. The steak was flavorful but more suited for steak and eggs at breakfast. It had a lot of fat to cut out. It was a long wait until our side salads arrived, and then a long time for the main entrée. There wasn't any offer for more bread while we were waiting or a refill on the iced tea. No one seemed to care whether we existed or not. I have had better food and service elsewhere and will not return."

  • "Great place to dine with a date or special occasion. Lively ambiance, but you can still hear yourself talk, so that's good. The 5-spice salmon is outstanding:so tender. My only gripe was that some of the rice it sits atop was raw(the "crunch" as I bit down was not so pleasant). The s'mores sundae was delicious - all the ingredients were well-portioned for sharing. An unexpected find in this area. Restaurant doesn't look so big, but it still feels intimate around other tables and soft lighting. I did not see valet parking, but the lot is fairly small and you can maneuver around quite easily. It's a nice touch when the manager or person in charge comes to check on your table. Make sure you listen to the server for off-the-menu specials!"

  • "Had lunch for the first time at Park Ave Friday, and we all enjoyed our experience. The food was great; I had the chicken pot pie, which was a step above what one usually finds. Only minor issue was on the burger one of my teammates ordered; they were out of buns and served it on sourdough, which was falling apart. But, she did enjoy the burger. We also had a chance to visit the garden, which had a wide variety of produce that often winds up in your meal. This has quickly become one of my favorite restaurants."

  • "We have been here before and had a very different experience than prior visits.....we were seated by the bathroom pathway table, so it was busy and louder than we are used to when being here. we should have asked to be seated elsewhere, we didnt.. then we asked a question about the herb crackers instead of the bread rolls and had to ask again to get answer because we never were told the answer. we ordered the wedge salad and asked for it to be split and tossed, it only came split up not tossed. then we asked for the soup to be really really hot when served, it was not hot enough so we had to send it back(it came out steaming the 2nd time). We called them and told them it was for Dad's 75th birthday and nothing happened to make it special!"

  • "I had the sole and it was the best I have ever had, It was buttery, moist,. My husband had the Pepper stack and he said it was very good. The dessert was so good we had three different ones and want to try the others. The service was great. Love the Veggies they are farmed right on the property was very fresh. What to try the IL Garage which is also on the property and has pasta made fresh. "

  • "Park Ave is a gem that must be discovered by all. The food and the service is always outstanding. The wine list is extensive and reasonably priced. After your meal make sure to visit their garden. You will not be disappointed. "

  • "Park Ave is consistently excellent. Lovely selection on the brunch menu. We loved being seated in Il Garage with its covered, open air setting. Looking at the gardens was so pleasant with a gentle breeze blowing...an idyllic background for chatting. Love the Rosemary Soda drink!! Note: they only serve Sunday Brunch on Easter, Mother's Day and Father's Day."

  • "Love the CUSTOMER SERVICE and FOOD, however I think it's over priced for what you get, and because of that, I would only go here for special occasions."

  • "It was a great Mother's Day experience. Our family enjoyed prompt seating with the reservations, even though the Park Ave. was extremely busy. The server was very pleasant and attentive, and when the food arrived, it could not have been better. It totally made one of the best dining experiences for the person we were there for, my mother. In closing, David Slay, the chef, shows how to maintain a thriving business. Thank you again, always a pleasure."

  • "The food was good but overpriced for the amount served. Too noisy in the back room. We had taken friends for their 20th wedding anniversary and were placed next to a huge party of about 20 people and we could not talk to each other at the table. The $48 filet mignon was tiny for that price. Also disappointed that they have curtailed their policy of allowing customers to bring their own wine. Very rare these days. Wine by the glass seemed overpriced also for the small amount served. For 6 people the dinner was almost $500 - and only 2 glasses of wine ordered and no dessert - so this was salads and main courses only. For me, not a good value for my money. We are not cheap people by any means, but this one left a bad taste. "

  • "I asked for a special table because it was our anniversary, nothing was done to make our evening special. The wine is overpriced, $25 for two glasses of house Chardonnay? Our wine glasses were two different sizes, very tacky, The steak was tough and the mashed potatoes were cold. You don't allow outside wine. I had a special bottle of champagne I was going to bring but wasn't able. It was a very bad experience especially for our 27th anniversary. My husband and I agree that we will never return."

  • "I must admit I wasn't expecting too much for this Stanton Restaurant but as soon as we drove into the parking lot I was greeted with a great looking Park Ave sign. Totally 50's, midcentury Modern but updated for the current times. The bar was so retro cool and the bartender Bob was amazing. Best Cosmo I've had in a long time. I ordered the 7oz filet mignon which was perfect. The beet salad starter was so light and flavorful. For dessert we ordered a banana sunday, delicious. Over all a great experience and the executive chef came out an introduced himself which i unheard of these days. We recommend this place to all!"

  • "Took a close friend for his 53rd birthday here hoping for a different dining experience from Newport Beach, old Orange, Laguna, etc. Overcame the resistance to drive out of North Tustin and were pleasantly surprised by the decor, menu, service, etc. The appetizers and drinks were first rate. Met the chef, strolled into the garden area, and we never rushed. We all had a great main course. Steaks were cooked as requested. All in all was a great dining experience. Too stuffed to have any desserts but next we will come prepared!"

  • "It was my mothers 90th birthday and I wanted to treat her and my son to dinner... Reservation were great we were seated right away. I ordered the flank steak and it was tuff!! My son ordered the scallops and received 3 my mom ordered another steak from the menu and did not finish it for the same reason as mine.... My expectations were for extremely tender meat and we were all disappointed in the meal... My son is a chemical engineer and has heard great things about the chef.. Please let me know that you received this concern.. Back in December I booked my company party in El Garage for 10 people and we had a much better experience.. "
