  • "This is a great steakhouse, in the traditional manner. Great beef & seafood, wonderful wedge salad. One drawback: a big emphasis on cheap liquor. The waiter was pushing a Yexas wine that "you can buy for $12 a bottle," and when we ordered Amaretto di Sorrano, we were told it wasn't carried there. The waiter said they like to "simplify their ordering and inventory" by ordering knock-off liqueurs all from one company, rather than name brands. Dumb explanation, tacky selection."

  • "Food was great. However we made a reservation for 8:30 and did not get seated until 9:10. The hostess told us the wait would be 20 minutes. There was no place to sit while we waited, so we had to stand in the aisle by the hostess desk for 40 minutes."

  • "It just wasn't great, despite selecting top line items...the 14 oz lobster at $80 was stringy, the 16 oz strip steak just wasn't great tasting and they were out of asparagus (we were in the first seating) but our server was very good. I'm a big fan of this place so it was a bit of a let down...maybe next time it will be great?"

  • "I'd always thought that I didn't like steaks - until the 16th anniversary meal my husband and I enjoyed at Pappas Steakhouse. Turns out that I love steak - but only the properly cooked, choicest cut of beef. I wanted to curl up with that steak like my new favorite teddy bear and dream about filets, sirloin and much, much more. An excellent restaurant with excellent food."

  • "You cannot beat the service at this restaurant. Everything was superb save the mushroom sauce on my filet and lobster dinner special. It was a bit too salty. Other than this, the dinner was excellent. The crab legs were steamed to perfection and the wine list is quite extensive and amazing."

  • "We were sat in the wine room which is more intimate than the larger dining room. It allowed us to have a quieter experience. The steaks were the best ever. Our server was attentive, knowledgeable and very pleasant. When I booked the reservation on Open Table I wrote in the notes that we were celebrating a birthday. The hostess, our waiter and others who serviced our table were aware of the Birthday and all said Happy Birthday. We ordered two deserts and both came with Happy Birthday on the plates and both deserts were comped for us. We had a wonderful time and can't wait to go back again. The ambiance of the restaurant throughout is very Texas, manly and upscale."

  • "We went to Pappas Steakhouse to celebrate my birthday and had a fabulous time. The food was incredible. Highly recommend the bacon wrapped scallops - they were excellent. Also, the MILK CHOCOLATE MOUSSE & TOASTED MARSHMALLOW dessert is out of this world!! We absolutely loved it. Highly, highly recommend that you save room for this dessert. Great ambience, excellent service, excellent food. Will definitely be going back!"

  • "Chose 18 oz dry aged bone in NY Strip. USDA prime. Steaks are cut in house so I requested extra thick and was accommodated. Perfectly cooked med rare, red warm center. Dry seasoning with peppercorn and salt maybe a tad too much, but easy to scrape off. Great flavor with the hint of dry aged taste. Favorite steakhouse in Houston. Would love to try the larger 32 oz version on bone in strip, but need to do it another time!"

  • "It was unfortunate that the lovely food, great wine were overshadowed by a table of loud drunks! I was contacted by Pappas later to ask whether the heat in the room was disturbing, but this was not a significant issue. There was a college baseball game on the tv and our terrible neighbors were cheering in a sports stadium fashion for their team. I blame Pappas for not asking them to tone it down-- we mentioned it to our server, but let's face it, most people don't know that there is a different standard of behavior in restaurants than in their dens. Will I go again? Probably, but not before I've gone to another place ( or two) on my Houston great steak list."

They have a great menu that they execute perfectly every single time. Consistency and great dishes always satisfy and although they may be the highest priced place for steak in Houston, it is definitely worth it!"

For the cost I would like one of the two lamb chops they serve to not be 50% fat and inedible. Everything else was great. The lobster deviled eggs are something everybody should try."

We went at 5 pm as I like to eat before it gets too late. It was nice and quiet and a great place to celebrate special events in your life that make for a memorable evening. Since this place was built this has been our go to restaurant to celebrate our special events. This weekend we celebrated by going head to head with rival steak house Vic & Anthony's the following day thinking that we will pick one winner and keep them as our special event place. Pappas Bros. Steakhouse we will see you next year on out 26th anniversary."

  • "Our waiter came close to ruining our double celebration of a daughter's birthday AND Father's Day! Tough to visit while being barked at in a very loud voice far too frequently! We felt like covering our ears as he barked lines such as: " if you'll pass me the sugar packet to your left and this side of your flowers!" And " Pass me your appetizer fork!" Etc. it was exasperating! Upsetting! Annoying! It took extreme powers of perseverance to not let our treatment destroy a special dinner. My husband was relaying to the family just how shocked he was at the waiter's manner, when the waiter might have overheard him, because he quieted down some afterward. Every auxiliary waiter helping during the meal was very well mannered."

Everything is always cooked correctly the first time. Tough to beat. It's even better if someone else is paying...but unlike some other expensive restaurants in Houston (like Mark's or Del Friscos), I'll go here on my dime too."

Wine list is mind blowing, you'll need their sommelier to help, which are great!!! All in all great time, great food, great wine!!!"
