Diner Reviews
  • "Pappas' Steakhouse has a wonderful combination of perfect food and personable staff. This is a place you want to settle in to, showing up often enough to be remembered. In turn, you will remember the wonderful steaks and seafood. I strongly recommend the bone-in cuts for their additional flavors. The Porterhouse for two is carved table side, attracting just a little more attention in a place filled with the movers and shakers of Houston. Ask for a table with a telephone-it may still be warm from the latest Oil Bidness deal. Come early and enjoy a cocktail at the bar. Try a Manhattan with a Luxardo cherry. Suggested and served by a bartender who can be story teller, psychologist or sphinx depending upon your mood."

  • "The air conditioning is some areas is very high and makes you uncomfortable during dinner. The sea bass was bad, it didnt had any flavor, and if you go with your friends and are the one who doesnt eat meat the menu for non meat eaters is very small with no good choices to have. The key lime pie was regular, also with a lack of lime flavor. The salad with tomato and onion and blue cheese used to be better now it was regular too. The meat and the crab cakes were pretty good."

  • "We frequent Pappa's Steakhouse, have always benefited from a top-notch dining experience. Friday evening our waiter was entirely inattentive. We waited a long time to be acknowledged. We waited a long time for both our wine and food orders to be taken. Once our meal arrived, we did not see our waiter again. We had to ask someone to send him to our table as we intended to order another bottle of wine. By the time our waiter arrived, we had finished our meal. We were surprised and disappointed. With an $800.00+ check before tip, the wait-staff service made our evening far less than what we have come to expect and appreciate at Pappa's."

  • "Daughters 16th Birthday. Waiter was all over his game. New why we were there and what the special occasion was. Could not have been a more enjoyable experience...."

  • "My husband ordered the crab cocktail and added 3 boiled shrimp along with it which came with cocktail and remoulade too at his request. Always fresh and a huge portion. I ordered the Steakhouse Salad which is consistently good with its fresh ingredients of tender lettuce, oranges, roquefort cheese crumbles, thinly sliced green apple, red onion, candied almonds and applewood bacon all tossed in a mild vinaigrette dressing. We both had the special for the night which was Red Alaskan Crab Legs. Wow, they were awesome!! Served with clarified butter and lemon on the side. Dessert was equally fantastic.....creme brûlée and a scoop of praline ice cream with candied crushed nuts on the side. We always ask for Hunter because he's awesome!!"

  • "We love this place, don't get me wrong. The food is always consistent and perfectly cooked, perfectly seasoned, service is top notch, and the wine list and bar service rocks. Pet peeve... 30 minite wait WITH a reservation. Always a wait, at least 10 minutes, running to 30 or some more in the last ocassions. I get it - you do not throw patrons out the door when the next reservation timely shows up (and you shouldn't), but it is clear that you over-reserve tables and just expect your clientele to wait for you. Revisit this policy, it is getting old and tired, and we love your food and service!!"

  • "Truly a memorable meal! Every detail, from the meat down to the cherries in the cocktails, was of the highest quality and perfectly presented. Our server, Erick, was fantastic! I will request him next time I visit."

  • "Have been coming to PBSH for 20 years. This night was almost no exception to their continued excellence. Seating was prompt, cocktails worth ordering, food simply excellent, best steak in Texas, (bone in fillet). But tonight, the service was slow at times, so only average service overall. Usually exemplary service. I'll be back"

  • "Everything about the dining experience was excellent-- steak, wine and service. The steak was cooked to perfection and brought to the table hot. Sommelier made great recommendations. I've been to a few steakhouses but this is definitely my new favorite!"

  • "Went here for a birthday dinner. The steak (22 oz USDA prime porterhouse) was cooked exquisitely (medium rare). Gooey pecan pie dessert was decadent and delicious."

  • "I have dined here at least 5 times and usually find it outstanding! It should be considering for (2) 12-14 oz steaks (1 ribeye, 1 filet), 2 cocktails, 2 sides, and 2 cups of soup, plus tip, the tab was $240.00. The mushrooms were mooshy and one of the steaks wwas really really salty. Should have sent it back. Put down the shaker chef! Your steaks speak for themselves! Not sure what happened in the kitchen. Mac & cheese wih crab was really good and so were the turtle soups. The staff is excellent! Held our reservation for 40 minutes and the waiter was quick and attentve."

  • "You can go wrong with a Filet Mignon and side of Roasted Mushrooms. It's always my go-to meal at Pappas Brothers. The counter is excellent for kitchen entertainment if you show up without a reservation. Everything is outstanding!"

  • "Good management that focuses on pleasing their customers continues to shine through at Pappas Bros. I have lived in Houston for 17yrs and it's as good today as it was when I moved here in 1997. Going to Pappas Bros. is a special treat that I always look fwd to. The steaks are oustanding and perfectly prepared but don't shy away from the starters, the Hardboiled Lobster Eggs and Fried Oysters are not to be missed. Add the Lobster Mac'n cheese to your meal and you'll leave with a smile. Wine, wine and more wine, something for everyone."

  • "My wife and I went there for our anniversary dinner and the food and service was fantastic! By far the best steaks we have ever had!"
    Dined on 8/16/2014
  • "The crab cakes were incredible and the sauce they are served with is outstanding... but for $20, the two of them were rather small. My dining companion and I both had the filet duo which was very good... although I'd have liked my steaks to be a bit warmer when they came to the table (something I did not mention to anyone because the flavor far surpassed the temperature issue) Thomas was our waiter and he was fantastic. He made recommendations, was very knowledgeable and accommodating."

  • "Food & Service was awesome. Best French onion soup I've ever had."

  • "First off the Waiter was top notch. Best.Waiter. Ever! He was spot on correct in his descriptions and anticipated our every need including copious amounts of extra melted butter for our Crab and our steaks. The steak was fantastic. The Crab Legs were the Best I'd ever had - get them before they go out of season - worth ever ounce price. Fantastic ambiance! The entire staff made sure to greet my wife and wish her Happy Birthday...her desert was complimentary and it was so good as to be unparalleled! So if you eat here - be sure and check out the prices on the menu so you know what to expect and won't go into cardiac arrest. I budgeted a large amount and spent every bit of it. Definitely the BEST Steakhouse in Houston and worth every penny."

  • "As a frequent visiter to upscale steakhouses, I was looking forward to dinner at Pappas. The evening started with a 15 minute wait for us to be seated. This was unexpected since we arrived at our reservation time of 6pm. We were shown to the "tv room" which was even more of a surprise since we made the reservation with instructions for a romantic table. We ended up moving tables and the evening improved. The remaining service was decent. The food, however, was incredible. We had crab cakes and filets and they were both delicious. All in all, the evening was enjoyable. The service will keep me from going back in the near future, but the food will ultimately win me back."

  • "We ordered the NY strip steak and fried oyster appetizer. Oysters great but steak was grainy-maybe too much grass fed. Disappointed."
    Dined on 8/14/2014
  • "Most everthing was really good. The cheese tray was fabulous. The wine selection over the top, the wedge salads were great.of the 2 entrees that we ordered one was excellent and one was not. Additionally, we were seated at 8:30 and we left at 10:45. We had to take dessert home as we just could not sit there any longer. We were not charged for the cheesecake."

  • "I was all ready to go in and try my first bone-in fillet, but the waiter suggested I try one of their dry-aged strips instead. He explained that the New York strips and rib eye steaks are aged for 30 days in-house, something that sets them apart from other steak houses. The bone-in cuts are only aged 3-5 days, since the bone can start to sour the meat after that, and plain old fillets will not keep their integrity if aged too long. I'm normally not a strip gal, but my strip was fantastic! Not for one moment did I regret not choosing my old standby, the fillet. It was tasty and tender; a delicious reminder that stepping out of my comfort zone can be a rewarding experience. Oh, and the sides merit a whole other five star review!"

  • "The food is melt in your mouth delicious. Portions were generous and the service impeccable. My only complaint would be the size of the wine list, it was overwhelming and did not show wine by the glass. We ended up telling the waiter what we liked and he brought us something without knowing how much it would cost. I suppose if you are at this type of restaurant you really shouldn't care about price. The wine was wonderful and paired well with dinner so I am not complaining. Loved the dinner!"

  • "The service was five star as was the food It's my second time in and the night was memorable, however it's hard not to compare this place to Del Frisco's My bar bill for three drinks was with tip 50 my meal was 385 with tip plus 15 for vale Yes I had full course and dessert steak and lobster, but that same meal at Del Frisco's would have been 250 not 385 This is not to say the food and the service was less then exemplary it was excellent"

  • "We dined at Pappas Bros for the first time on 8/1/14. The restaurant is incredibly loud and the food is sub par at best. The restaurant was out of the appetizer we wanted to order and when ordering French fries, the waiter told me that he would have to go to Pappas burgers to get them. Such a weird dining experience."

  • "Pappas Bros. Steakhouse provided another wonderful dining experience where we celebrated our anniversary. Sommelier, Mr. Mark Griffith did an excellent job selecting our wine for the celebration. Mark is knowledgeable, professional and always makes us feel welcome. Our waiter, Coy allowed us to dine at our leisure and provided courteous service. I suggest you arrived prior to your reservation time and enjoy a refreshing kir royale or negroni at the bar."
