Diner Reviews
  • "Our tour guide at the Chocolate Farm recommend this place to us several years ago and we've been coming back ever since. Love the imaginative preparations, the fresh ingredients and the apple banana spring rolls! Always recommend this restaurant to friends going to Kauai since they would probably not find it otherwise."

  • "An ocean view from virtually every table. Open air with the ocean at your side. You could not find a more romantic and scenic place to enjoy dinner with that special person and / or great friends."

  • "The food was good although some items were quite salty. Drinks were great, I recommend the pineapple martini. Great seafood and a good assortment of non seafood fare for others. The service was horrendous, the bartender was more concerned with washing dishes than taking an order, we sat at the bar to wait for our table. We waited for 15 minutes to order and receive a drink (they were not that busy). The waiter left dirty dishes and drink glasses at our table, it took forever to get a second drink. The staff was more concerned about hanging out with each other then providing good service. If you go, order two drinks at a time and be assertive with staff."

  • "You certainly can't beat the view, with the Pacific mere yards away. Would be nice if there were fewer hedges between restaurant and the beach, but that may not be the establishment's call. Service was good. Food was outstanding, most of it sourced from right on the island or the nearby waters. The sweet potato chips were a fabulous appetizer. Decent craft beer selection as well. We would definitely go back."

  • "Our table was just inside the open doorways and offered a spectacular view of the beach and ocean. Our fish entrees were well prepared (we had one grilled, the other sauteed). They offer 1/2 portions of most entrees (also priced at 1/2) and that was just the right size. Happy Hour cocktails are also a value."

  • "generally better, that night, dinner was not so good, plus they were short-staffed"

  • "We found the service weird. The waiter took our order and the appetizer, main course and dessert was not served by our waiter. These courses was plucked down at our table, the dirty dishes from the previous course were not removed. When the waiter asked us how our meal was, the dirty fishes were still not removed. This lack of attention to detail was not expected."

  • "The atmosphere was superb and the service was excellent by Henry. The food was very good. We had the Ahi which could have been seasoned a bit more and there were no condiments on the table. Ie salt and pepper. I will be back.... Thank you"

  • "We loved sitting so close to the ocean. Happy hour was still available for our 5pm saturday reservation. Signature cocktails and house wines were only 5$. The portion of the drinks was large. We loved our food, I had Pork and my husband had Lamb, although the portions were not very big they were tasty. We loved the bread and salad we had also. The service was very good."

  • "The service was fantastic and the food was fabulous! Great to know it was local too. I'm vegetarian and the Farmers Market Curry was a nice option. Ordered 1/2 portion and it was perfect!"

  • "We (local group of 6-8) enjoy meeting occasionally after a week of work to enjoy the happy hour cocktails and the great food. The Ahi is always fabulous. I love the Okinawa potato chips. The curry dish and the quinoa dish my favorites. Someone at our table always has the burger with no complaints. The view is spectacular, the wait staff is impeccable and the food & drinks keep us coming back."

  • "The waiter never came around to check on us, once he gave us our dishes. He never asked us for a second round of drinks either. He was trying to be nice and friendly once he brought the bill, I'm sure to get a decent tip. A couple of appetizers weren't very good and the entrees were average at best. We are locals and don't think we will try Oasis again. We were really looking forward to dinner there as several friends suggested the place....oh well."

  • "You can't beat an ocean view in an open air restaurant on the beach in Kapaa. A great place to have good conversations without raising your voice. Order a Mai Tia and thank me later! It was the very best we've ever had, so smooth and not overwhelmingly sweet. Callimari was really good, nice and crispy, not heavily breaded, great seasoning! Order the fish of the day tartar, it's excellent! You can't go wrong with anything you order. All farm to table fresh vegetables and fruits. Local Kauai beef and fresh caught fish! The apple banana spring rolls with house made coconut gelato was a perfect ending! Cheers!"

  • "We heard from fellow travelers that Oasis was a very nice spot for dinner. The relaxing atmosphere, beach view, food, and service all added to the good experience.. The Mai Tais we had were the best ever!"

  • "We went for dinner based on recommendations from others. The food was a mix of good and ok, but the service was great. The sweet potato ravioli was excellent, but some parts of our fish entree were really, really salty. When we mentioned this to the server, he offered to send it back immediately and one of the managers came by and offered to do the same. We ultimately declined because the salt wasn't going to ruin our meal, but were pretty impressed by their thoughtfulness and responsiveness. We were also surprised to see they bought us dessert because of the salty fish, which was a very generous gesture."

  • "We are always looking for restaurants with something special. Oasis certainly meets that criteria. The food was very good, presented well and with several excellent options. The service was a little slow, but overall we will definitely be back. Ambiance was outstanding!"

  • "This place is one of the best offerings on Kauai. I look forward to going when we vacation anywhere on the island. We have been going since it opened (4 years ago) and they have maintained their brilliance/high-standards of excellence. Honestly, they are hard to beat and we go several times whenever we are on Kauai."

  • "Surprisingly good food coming out of a very small kitchen. The view of the ocean and beach are picturesque. Near the hotel pool but wasn't a problem. Might be different in summer months with larger crowds. I would recommend this restaurant."

  • "Found this place on Tripadvisor and was very pleased. We'd been doing a lot of eating out whilst in Kauai since our hotel restaurant was pretty awful - the food here, and ambience couldn't be beat. Fresh, local fish and vegetables served without heavy sauces or coverings were delightful. And the location is right on the beach, behind the resort/condos. They may want to upgrade their signage on the highway since we almost missed it. You don't even know its there if you're not staying at that location."

  • "Enjoy open air dining overlooking the ocean. Oasis offers a creative menu of fresh, locally sourced gourmet treats. Starting with their authentic Mai tai with house-made liqueurs, we enjoyed a well-prepared grilled kale salad, followed by an excellent seared ahi served on a bright purple bed of puréed Okinawan sweet potato. My only disappointment was the rather ordinary green beans substituted for the baby bok choy promised by the menu. Topped it all off with excellent decaf served in individual French presses and a sublime chocolate espresso pot de creme."

  • "Let's face it. You don't go to Kauai for the restaurant experience. But, ocaisionally, you want a treat. We selected Oasis for ours. The drinks were great. The view, spectacular. Appetizer salads were large, fresh and delicious. But, each of our four entrees were cold, as if they had been sitting around for 30 minutes before serving too us. It's too bad, they had good flavors, but the experience was not enjoyable. If I could give 2.5 stars, I would, but our meal did not reach the "good" category."

  • "Had a wonderful meal at this innovative little gem on the ocean. Featuring farm to table ingredients sources mainly from Kauai, but with grass-fed beef and lamb from the big island. We had a warm and personable waiter, with a solid understanding of the menu. The short-rib was fantastic, as was the bacon-truffle fried rice...yum. Also of note is the delicious Market Curry. Complex seasoning with fresh vegetables (and the catch of the day, if desired). Ours had squash and purple sweet potato. There are two 2-top and two 4 top tables on the patio directly on the ocean. Request one of these for a extremely romantic dinner, at an affordable price."

  • "The food, service and experience were great. It's a bit pricey but it is a hotel restaurant in Kauai so you can't really hold that against it."

  • "This was our first time to the restaurant and we had an ocean view seat awaiting us. We had an appetizer, main course and dessert and all 3 courses were great. We look forward to coming back again."

  • "We arrived on time for our reservation and waited 35 minutes for a cocktail. Things got worse from there! The restaurant was not busy when we arrived . The price for what we received was ridiculous .. And having to leave a $66.00 tip was unfair . That was our first evening in Hawaii and we will not be returning to that restaurant."

  • "Three of the five of us had ono -- each was overcooked and dry, after the waitress stressed that the chef preferred medium, to which we had all happily agreed. One of us had the short rids which he declared to be uninteresting. Spices and salt in the ono brushchetta completely overpowered the delicacy of the fish. At first service was attentive but then lagged. The wine arrived some 5-10 minutes after the food, having been ordered in good time. I commented to the waitress that we had been waiting for some time for the wine. The waitress informed me that she had other customers also. I held my tongue, barely."

  • "Oasis is truly an outstanding place for dinner. We sat 100 yards from the ocean. The food is all local. I had Ono with Hawaiian sweet potatoes and bok choi. My husband had lamb meatballs, couscous, and green beans. For dessert we had apple banana wraps with local caramel ice cream. Oasis deserves a full 5 stars."

  • "Our favorite restaurant on Kauai is the Hukilau Lanai but when it was closed this Monday we tried the Oasis. We loved their menu choices, particularly being able to order half-portions of main courses, creative cuisine and great service (thanks, Henry!). Our main complaint it that, for those of us who enjoy wine with our meals but don't believe in spending an arm and a leg, the Oasis wine card disappoints. The least expensive bottle of red came in at $40. A restaurant with such good work coming out of the kitchen needs to search out some good wine options in the $25-30 range."

  • "We dined at Oasis on the recommendation of a friend and had one of our best meals on the island. We began with their hand-crafted Mai Tais made with 3 different rums and housemade orgeat syrup. Truly miraculous. And quite potent. And we sipped them throughout our meal. Because the menu offers half portions at about half the price of a full portion, we were able to sample an appetizer and four entrees. All the food is outstanding. The calamari appetizer was not breaded! It had a delicious honey glaze. The four fish dishes, all with different fish, were cooked perfectly, each fish cooked just right. We ended our meal with the super dense and creamy chocolate pot de creme and the fried apple banana with a local chocolate gelato."

  • "The location is quite nice, the food was good once served, but the service is atrocious. The soup of the day was cold when served. It was even colder after waiting several minutes for a soup spoon which took two specific requests. The main courses which were varied in a party of six, arrived cold also. Since forks were picked up after appetizers, again we were left with no utensils. This time it took three requests to get forks for the main course. Drinks for all the adults were served promptly (about the only thing served quickly) but it took several requests to get the drinks for the two children in our party. Since we had a party of 6, there is a automatic 20% gratuity applied. If I had a choice, there would have been no gratuity."

  • "Have dined twice at Oasis and it's wonderful. The restaurant sources its produce from farm to table, and everything is so fresh, delicious and healthy. By offering half portions for several entrees, you can eat less or sample more. Service is also excellent - attentive, friendly and welcoming. Perfect oceanside location too."

  • "I live on Maui and use Open Table as a professional concierge. While researching Restaurants for my vacation, I saw Oasis profiled and decided to try it on my Birthday. We were not disappointed! We had a beautiful table and a wonderful server Henry or Harry from Philly. My friend did not like her veggie dish and our server took it back and had the kitchen make her a new dish with no questions asked. Love that in a restaurant! The food was delightful and a fabulous time was had by all. Next time I am on Kauai I shall make sure to have another great dinning experience!"
