Galveston Restaurant Group presents Nonno Tony's World Kitchen, offering Italian fusion, Creole and traditional American fare. The open-style kitchen features a steam kettle bar and brick ovens. An extensive beer and wine list is also featured in "Paulie's Bar."

"Nonno," Italian for "Grandfather," is attributed to Galveston Restaurant Group's patriarch, Tony Smecca (father of owners Joey and Johnny Smecca). "Paulie's Bar," another family namesake, is named in honor of Danny Hart's father, the third partner of Galveston Restaurant Group.

Nonno Tony's world flavors feature technique honed at other Galveston Restaurant Group properties.

Galveston Restaurant Group has brought the "art of good eating" to patrons since 1997, with restaurants including Saltwater Grill, Mario's Seawall Italian Restaurant, Papa's Pizza, Sky Bar & Sushi and Little Daddy's Gumbo Bar

  • "This is the 3rd time my girlfriend and I have visited NoNo Tony's and have yet to be disappointed. The Snapper they served us the other night was incredible. I had the special, andouille crusted snapper (Andouille sausage infused into breadcrumb coating) topped with shrimp on a bed of risotto was phenomenal. The Snapper with their Mediterranean topping was outstanding as well. All of the kids enjoyed their flavorful brick oven pizza. Great experience."

  • "Our waiter was incredible. He handled a group of twenty (half of them naughty children) with ease and was really on top of his game. The food, however, was mediocre. The appetizers were nothing exciting. The fish was fresh but, not fabulous. The salads were a little sad and the shrimp cocktail tasted like something I could have gotten in the ready-made department of Tom Thumb. One of the steaks was overcooked.The desserts (we tried all four) were unremarkable. The good service was the only saving grace."

  • "I made reservations a month in advance for my husbands birthday. With the menu prices I was under the impression that it was a higher end restaurant. The food was ok. I had requested that the desert cart be brought in front of my husband so he could pick what he wanted they forgot to do that so I had to remind the waitress. She then proceeded to tell my husband he was getting cake but they ran out of candles . By the time she got back he and our group were done with waiting. For the price and the occasion I expected a lot more. We won't be going back ."

  • "We expected more than we received. Our waiter was inexperienced and failed to deliver the restaurant provided appetizers. The red fish was very good, prepared with a Ponchatrain sauce that was excellent. My wife had two appitizers which were good. The restaraunt was just a open floor with very little ambience. I would recommend, but there are other nearby restaurants that are better."

  • "There's not a lot of fine dining in Galveston, and while this may not be a five star restaurant, Nonno Tony's offers delicious fresh seafood and Italian food. The service is laid back, yet classy. It works perfectly for the feel of the city. It's a flight of steps above the chain restaurants that prosper in Galveston. Comfortable yet tasteful clothing is the attire. Children are welcome but it's not a place where they can run wild - like many of the Galveston hotspots. There is full bar but people aren't in their wearing wife-beater shirts and short-shorts getting plowed. They serve very good wines by the glass. I'm glad to have found this gem in Galveston, as most often when I come to this city I don't relish the thought of eating out..."

  • "First time to dine here and chose to celebrate wife's birthday to enjoy a nice view and have some great food. Staff were friendly and seated us promptly. Waitperson was very helpful in explaining various menu choices. Chose from appetizers the crispy artichoke hearts topped with crab meat and the blistered cherry tomato caprese with grilled shrimp. Both were outstanding. Ordered red snapper prepared with Pontchatrain shrimp, crawfish, and mushrooms in a butter wine sauce. This dish was presented well and had an outstanding flavor. We opted for a house Reisling which coordinated well with the fish selections. Only disappointment was that no one acknowledged my wife's birthday even though I had noted that on reservation."

The food was fine - though some selections quite expensive - except for the pasta dishes. Liked the availability of turkey meatballs which were tasty. Attentive service."

  • "While we did not have a bad experience, they definitely need to improve considering their price point and the competition only a few steps away. The food was ok. Service was adequate, except for empty water glasses having to be asked to be filled and the entrees arriving while we were still eating salads, which is a big pet peeve of mine. I expected more when paying $34 for a 6 oz piece of Snapper. Best part of both our dinners were the roasted veggies and potato. The bread was very good. For ambiance, the room seems like just a big open space and they kept messing with the lighting level to the point of being distracting. We would give them another try but there are so many foodie places in Galveston, I doubt it will happen."

  • "My hubby and I gave this place a try. The menu was small however it contained a broad range of foods. We started off with the BBQ shrimp. I decided to do a seafood special and my husband chose the chicken parmigiana. We both enjoyed our selections. Our waitress was very helpful, nice, and patient. She did not steer us wrong on any of her suggested items (the BBQ shrimp and red snapper special). She recommended the chocolate cake for desert- It was to die for!! We will definitely go back again."

  • "Of the 4 days I have been in town I have dined here 3 times! I have looked all over for a Sazarac. Some have no idea what it is or some say they do and bring me crap in a glass. The manager came to check on us and I took a chance and asked her if she knew what it was. Not only did know ,she made me the best Sazarac I have ever had and ive been to Sazarac's in Louisiana! Food was amazing as well! "

  • "Our reservation was for 6:30 and we were seated right away. The food was very good as was the service. The only issue was we had to change tables a few times because the air conditioning was blowing (a lot) on our table. Once we moved to the back area the problem was resolved. Had we not changed tables it would have been a miserable experience."

  • "walked in off the street on a Saturday evening. were told it would be a 30-40 minute wait. looked on Open Table and found a reservation for 7:30 which was less than 30 minutes away so we booked it. sat outside on the patio where we were waited on quickly for drinks. Decided to order an appetizer while we waited. The appetizer came and we ate it. Table wasn't ready right away but once we were seated it was in a noisy spot by the kitchen. Someone took our drink order and delivered it but never came back to take food order. were never quite sure who our waiter was. A manager saw us sitting there and came and asked about us. She ended up taking our order which took a long time. Food was pretty good had it not been for the chaos. "

  • "We tried Nonp's for the first time this past Friday night. The restaurant was nearly empty, which was not a good sign. We ordered two appitizers which were bland. The pizza crust was way too tough and hard while the sauce and cheese were lovely. Meatball I ordered was not hot but had a nice flavor. Ambiance is quite nice. With a bit of work on the recipes this place could be very nice but for now is at best 3 stars. "

  • "While in Galveston I was glad to find something other than seafood. My table shared a Margherita, Mediterranean, and Meat Lover's pizza and all three were cooked perfectly. No slices were left uneaten. Hubby and I split the Italian Cream Cake. Heaven! Definitely same room for it. The waiter was attentive but not overly so. All in all a great experience."

  • "Wow! What great place on pier 21 in Galveston. We saw a couple of rough reviews but decided to give it a try ! Calvin our waiter was top notch he told us about great specials including fresh red snapper from the fish house next door. The wine list was perfect as well and they have wine on tap too. The chef stopped by to check on us as well as a manager. I would recommend this place to anyone wanting a locals experience on the island. Calvin also told us they have live music on Wednesdays and a great late night bar scene on weekends."

  • "Everytime we come here we are always treated like royalty. The service is always attentive as well as informative. Kirsten, selected a nice bottle of Zinfandel for us (The Federalist) and that set the tone. I had a Caesar salad and a ribeye which were cooked perfectly and my girlfriend had the snapper special which she said was one of the best fish dishes she has ever had. This was our third visit and another flawless experience. It is now our go to spot in Galveston. We can't wait to come back for happy hour next time!"

You can tell it's a newer restaurant b/c the staff still doesn't know what they are doing, the food does not taste good whatsoever and the menu does not have much to choose from! Go to Willie G's or Fisherman's Wharf over this restaurant any day! I'm sorry to be so rude and blunt but they they couldn't even make a caesar salad taste good...it was the nastiest caesar salad I've ever had!"

  • "My family and I were looking forward to trying Nonno Tony's.... as its a relitively new restaurant on the Island. I was EXTREMELY dissapointed by everything but the service (our waitor was very friendly). Our drinks were watered down and terrible... I had a cosmo and my dad had a vodka tonic... we weren't sure if there was even any vodka in either... and my mom had a margarita, which just tasted like bad mix. The appatizers were bland and not even warm, and the oysters on the half shell were terrible... they were so small that we couldn't tell which ones we'd already eaten... and the shucker did a terrible job because none of them were disconnected from the shell! Our entres were nothing special either... we will never go back!"

We visited when they first opened in 2012 and have enjoyed lunches and dinners several times since then. The food is always very good and the staff are very attentive.   • "We were seated and our waitress came to take our drink orders. We had questions about happy hour and she seemed unable to answer them. We ordered cocktails and two appetizers and they were out much quicker than our cocktails. Our appetizers were just okay, not nearly as good as on our first visit. Drinks finally arrived and our entrees quickly followed. My husband's pizza was terrible. It had some liquid sitting in top, my mussels were somewhat flavorful but many were unopened. My daughter ordered a $28 steak medium well and it was overlooked and tough. As we were finishing up we heard a waitress greeting the table next to us sharing the evening specials. We were not made aware of any specials....wish we would have had that option."
