  • "Good food and attentive service in a lovely setting."

  • "As always, a wonderful experience! We have dined here many times and the quality of the food and service remains impeccable."

  • "The service was outstanding and the scallops with risotto were amazing as were the lobster brushetta, still talking about how good the meal was. Nice job."

  • "Food tends to be overpriced for what you get. Lovely restaurant, excellent service. Skip the $10 brusssel sprouts, very hard and dry. Chicken was pale, very plain presentation. Basic cocktail and beer were $19.00 + tip. One diner in our group loved the very tender and tasty pork loin. The lemon shortbread dessert was excellent. We were told we would receive a complimentary beverage for celebrating our anniversary but this was never received."

  • "Great food as always. Had a Groupon which made the experience even better! Each visit our server is always great, water is always refilled quickly. My finance love the Nicollet Island Inn."

  • "Good place for meeting a longtime friend for lunch......easy atmosphere, quiet ambiance, wonderful view of river/neighborhood, good service and food! The perfect place for re-conecting! Love the ease of parking right outside the door."

  • "Went to Father's Day brunch. There was a choice of 3 or 5 courses and both options were reasonably priced. The food was excellent, service the same, and we weren't at all rushed."

  • "This was our first visit to NII. Wait staff was friendly and very professional. We ordered the 5 course brunch and were pleasantly surprised with everything! I would definitely recommend."

  • "As always, lovely setting, beautiful space for lunch with dear friends. - Good range of lunch offerings. We enjoyed salmon salad, seared scallops with browned butter risotto, and crab cake sandwich (we requested deconstructed - great idea, otherwise the flavor of the crab would be lost). The only miss was the lobster roll - expected chunks of lobster, instead it was like ground-up bits, weird and unsatisfying. - Nice wines by the glass, not extensive, but good choices. - Inventive, fun desserts. - Our server at first seemed unfocused, but with time she relaxed and made some great recommendations and provided attentive service. - Finally, all of the staff were incredibly gracious with our group, many thanks to them for their patience."

  • "This was exactly what we wanted for our anniversary. The food and service were fantastic. The atmosphere was quiet enough for conversation but not too quiet."

  • "Enjoyed a wine pairing chef's sampling menus and enjoyed not only the food but the attentive staff and beautiful view. While missing some of the ceremony you might find in Manhattan or Beverly Hills, we still felt pampered. --and a $25 wine flight! Don't wait!b"

  • "Celebrating a birthday and anniversary, we expected more than a very average meal. The lobster bruschetta was excellent. From there everything went down hill. The onion soup was not very cheesy and very off tasting as if the onions may have been burnt. We waited what seemed an inordinate length of time for our average tasting meals that none of us raved about. Two had steaks which were cooked as requested; but seemed very salty. In my opinion, a well prepared steak needs no seasoning unless done at the table. Salmon and chicken dishes were ok-not great. We had theater tickets and there was no time for coffee or dessert. Management was advised of our experience and nothing was done to placate us. Very disappointing! Doubtful return"

  • "We went here with a group to celebrate my daughter's grad school graduation. It couldn't have gone better. The food was wonderful, the service was attentive without feeling overbearing and the setting was beautiful. A big plus was the noise level. We had a group of 8 and could actually hear everyone at the table. I would definitely return for a similar event."

  • "I had forgotten just how beautiful the setting is at Nicollet Island Inn, up close along the bank of the Mississippi. Besides the spectacular view, the dining room itself is lovely. The food was delicious, starting with French Onion Soup and House Salad. We shared entrees of roasted chicken and steelhead trout, both beautifully presented and prepared, served very professionally by Gibson, our friendly and attentive waiter. We finished off dinner with coffee and a wonderful panna cotta dessert. A delightful experience. "

  • "Nicollet Island Inn is the perfect location for a wonderful, leisurely meal in an atmosphere of charm and understated elegance. We had the crab cake, lobster bruschetta, flatbread and everyone had the walleye - all were excellent. The service was attentive without being distracting. Overall, a great dining experience."

  • "We celebrated our 41st Wedding Anniversary with a dinner at Nicollet Island Inn restaurant. The food was fabulous. The wine was great, romantic atmosphere, and we had a great time!"

  • "For special occasions when you can drop $30 a person the Sunday 5-course brunch is worth every penny and then some! HIGHLY recommended. "

  • "The Inn has become our favorite place for dining, particularly for special occasions. The food is always extraordinary, the service superb, and the ambiance of dining at a window table overlooking the scene of Nicollet Island with the horse-drawn carriages, etc., simply delightful and peaceful. (Winter of course means beautiful lighting reflecting off of the glistening snow.) Eating there is a must for anyone looking for a very special evening (or lunch, for that matter)! "

  • "The food was delicious. My husband and I both ordered the beef tenderloin. Highly recommended!! I tried the Sicilian martini because the bartender recommended it. Best martini I have ever had!! The staff was great too! Nice guiet dining experience."

  • "The food was good, but pricey. There is no incentive to return. I did not enjoy a cocktail that was made for me, so I didn't drink it. I told the waiter, yet I was charged for it."

  • "The Nicollet Island Inn didn't disappoint! I remembered how great the lobster bruschetta was--and it was at least as good this time. My husband loves the crab cake as well. He had the strip steak, prepared to his liking at medium rare with a mushroom and potato gratin. I had the scallops with a simple risotto. We shared the asparagus with shaved parm that went so well with the risotto. For dessert, my husband had the dark chocolate and strawberries; I had the lemon tart with just the right tartness. Our waitress, Rebecca, was so attentive. She made the evening special."

  • "We were celebrating our anniversary and it could not have been better. The view from our table overlooking the river was beautiful even saw a horse driven carriage. The food was the star! We had lobster brueschetta-delicious and the strip steak and seafood pasta dish-fabulous. The au gratin potatoes with a layer of mushrooms in a cream sauce-to die for! Service was perfect too! Thank you a wonderful and relaxing evening!"

  • "Our guest was very impressed with the view, the hotel, and the food. She grew up in Minneapolis 50 years ago, returns rarely, and the changes are very overwhelming for her. We were so pleased that our request for a nice view was honored. Husband, who wears two hearing aids, appreciated the low noise level. It was a lovely, relaxing way to begin a busy week."

  • "We had a lovely evening, with a great view. The waiter was attentive, informed, and made wine suggestions. We chose a plate of cheese and the lobster bruschetta. I enjoyed both, my companion thought the lobster a bit fishy. The bread basket was quite nice. He had the pork tenderloin, done perfectly, with a tasty aioli and an interesting veggie hash. I enjoyed the scallops - which tasted wonderful. The risotto was a tad over-cooked. We shared the brussel sprouts - they could have been grilled a bit more, but were fine. The Hogue riesling suggested was just the right touch. And we finished our meal with the lemon tart - the lemon was very tart, I did not care for the crust. Overall, a lovely evening, worth every penny. We'll be back."

  • "Everything was great. Sean was a very attentive server. All the courses were delicious and we liked this way of dining instead of a standard buffet."

  • "I took my Mom to the Nicollet Island Inn for breakfast on a sunny Saturday morning. It was perfect. I am new to the Cities and wanted to show my Mom the Stone Arch Bridge and falls when she came to town. Nicollet Island Inn was the perfect spot, we could park and walk all we wanted. The creme brulee french toast was amazing, so was the quiche of the day (roasted cauliflower and bacon). Service was fantastic. I will go back - I'll take my husband this time."

  • "We had a delicious brunch as usual at NII. This is my favorite brunch location which is why I selected if for Mother's Day. They had a special menu last Sunday which was excellent. Even though the creme brulee french toast was not on the menu, we had wonderful split pea soup, steelhead, amazing pastries, and highly attentive service. It was a true pleaure. This is my go to brunch location!"

  • "Celebrated our 20th anniversary at the Nic Inn this past weekend. Hadn't been there in years but used to visit frequently for the ambiance which is still wonderful. This is still a great romantic location but the food hasn't improved much, especially for the price. Would probably still go back as we have lots of memories from years past tied to this location but I'm hoping they do something to improve the menu. The wait staff was wonderful."

  • "Went into this visit to the Nicollet Island Inn open minded, as it was our first visit. It was my girlfriend's birthday and this was noted on the reservation. Upon our arrival, the host was very welcoming and wished my girlfriend a happy birthday. Nice touch. We got a nice corner booth with a view of the Mississippi River. Our server, Gibson, was very professional and hit all of the steps of service while allowing us time to enjoy our meals and one another's company. We enjoyed a couple cocktails, a couple glasses of wine, the lobster bruschetta appetizer, beef tenderloin, pork tenderloin, and the panna cotta rhubarb dessert, and a complimentary champagne toast for my girlfriend's birthday. Amazing food! Can't wait to visit again. "

  • "We had brunch at the Inn and the food was very good. I have to admit, it was the longest brunch I have ever had, as it was almost 2 hours. There was about 15 minutes between courses. I don't know if that is by design or not. The service was very good and our waiter was helpful and attentive. "

  • "I like steak. Favorite spots are Pittsburgh Blue and Wildfire. Applebees even has a good steak for a fair price. My tomato soup was delicious and the service was excellent. Thought the bread basket was fair, flatbread just ok. I asked for a medium steak and it was darn near well done. It medium well to well and just unevenly cooked. Potatos were just average. We were the only people dining so the cook couldn't have been under too much pressure. But probably will go elsewhere and even spend more money for better quality food. We weren't too wild about the valet parking either. Your parking lot is right there and we could have gotten our car faster then the guy working there did and saved some tip money for desert somewhere else."

  • "When travelling in the Minneapolis area I never miss this inn. I have been coming here for business and pleasure for over 30 years and it just gets better and better. The food is creative and delicious and the service is absolutely professional. If you want an old fashioned quality dining experience, this Inn and dining room and bar are all outstanding."

  • "Our first trip was nice, but not as nice as we had hoped. Overall the food quality was good, and the the ambience was good as well. It was not very busy, but despite that, it was quite noisy. Each end of the restaurant had a larger table of ladies, and at each table there was one individual that could not control their laughter. Another table of 2 was reloacted next to us in the middle because they also felt the noise was unbearable. Eventually, one noisy group was isloated a bit by closing some doors adjacent to them. This was all very unfortunate, due to the fact that a previous review had stated that this was the most quiet and romantic spot for a wonderful dinner. "

  • "We recently redeemed a Groupon (I couldn't believe our luck when I saw the deal!) for our favorite restaurant. Mid-week was quiet but the staff no less attentive nor the food no less excellent. Our most recommended restaurant did it again!"
