However, this Saturday night I was disappointed in the food. Ivan, the server, was great and just attentive enough but I got the beef Tenderloin and my friend got the rack of lamb. Both were pretty much tasteless. And I mean tasteless - no seasoning at all it seemed.
I will return, no doubt. One so so meal can never negate the outstanding meals I have had there.3/30/2013 12:00:00 AMEverything in it's placeAs the NY Times is to newspapers, Mise en Place is to Tampa dining......the Grand Dame of fine dining....yet more impressive is the eclectic assembly of foods, wines, deserts, cheeses, apertif's..... it's always fresh and up to date, even ahead of the curve in a lot of ways.

The food and service were as amazing at they usually were. I especially appreciated the candor and interest of our server while helping me to select my entree. He also was very helpful with our need to save the leftovers in the kitchen until after the end of the show at the performing arts center.3/14/2013 12:00:00 AMconsistently amazingWe went to Mise for my birthday dinner last week. We had been before but had only eaten at the bar (this time we got a table). Service got off to a slow start but our server totally turned it around once it was brought to his attention and we thought he deserved tons of credit for that (so we left a very good tip). But that was an anomaly. Usually the service is excellent from the moment you walk in until the moment you leave.
The inside of the restaurant is gorgeous, very chic and cozy. Mise is beautiful but not stuffy.
The food is always fantastic. The beef tenderloin was so tender I literally cut it with a fork. And, unlike at so many other restaurants, dessert is not an afterthought at Mise.
