I wanted to give my 14 year old
daughter a new experience and she sure got one! From the ambiance, to the belly dancer to washing her hands with rosewater while sitting at the table was a real experience. We enjoyed the 5 course meal(more than we could finish) and the service was excellent!"

This restaurant goes the extra
mile to create the atmosphere and cuisine of another culture. From start to finish it was an adventure."
Dined on 3/4/2014
You can;t find food like this at
other Moroccan restaurants. They do it the best!"

We came on time for our
reservation and was seated pretty much immediately. It was surprising that the tables were so low, but the chairs and couches were pretty comfortable. We had our hands washed at our table, and after that the food we got was really, really good and a pretty good deal for OC Restaurant week."

I went in optimistic and loved
everything about the place . A must try is the Bastilla , loved everything ."
Dined on 2/28/2014
Had a totally enjoyable dining
experience; superb food, ambience, and relaxation."

Marrakesh has been around for
decades, but this was our first visit to this establishment. We came in with a Groupon + 1, used Open Table for the reservation and typed into the request section that we had a Groupon. NO problem at all. We dined on a Tuesday evening and the restaurant was relatively empty. We were greeted promptly, treated like family and instructed on the nuances of the menu. The Groupon included the mixed grill, starting with a tomato lentil soup (no spoons), mediterranean salad and a shared chicken Bastilla pie. This was amazing. The platter of food for the main course, shrimp, chicken and filet served over couscous was exceptional and moist and tender. Finishing with moroccan mint tea completed the perfect meal!"

The Harira (called lentil soup)
was really good. The tea was outstanding. The lamb couscous was awesome. I was a bit disappointed by the Chicken tajine, the sauce was a bit neutral, while it's supposed to be full of spices. The menu could be expanded to include more tajines, and there's a famous Moroccan salad missing; the one with grilled green peppers, tomatoes and garlic. The pastries were great but Baclava is not Moroccan, it's lebanese. A great wine list, with a lot of Moroccan wines. I liked the traditional "hand cleaning" ritual, that was cool."

Marrakesh was amazing! We have
never been there before. Booked it for Valentine's day weekend. Service was great! We are coming back again! The belly dancer was amazing!!!!"

Among the poorest dining
experiences ever. Valentines Day dinner, not told of limited and price inflated menu. Arrived 5 minutes early and told there would be a 10 minute wait with 2 couples ahead of us. We waited 40 minutes as they sat not 2 but 6 other couples, including a couple that came in after us and had a later reservation. The couple objected as did we and were ignored. Asked for the manager and was told he would be our server and seated 10 minutes later. After a dismissive "apology" we were rushed through three poorly prepared courses of tasteless food. We were told the listed side dishes had run out and bland overcooked vegetables were substituted. Bad food, bad service, overpriced, and no regard for customers."

We had so much fun! The food is
great and the atmosphere is fantastic…you feel like you're in Moroco."
Dined on 2/1/2014
I don't really know why my date
and I were the only ones in this restaurant...maybe Monday is simply a slow night for them. But this place is awesome...the food is great, the wine selections surprisingly good and the atmosphere is unlike any other restaurant. The place is in need of a fresh coat of paint inside and out but if you can get past that, the experience is totally worth it."
Dined on 1/27/2014
Service was excellent - manager
greated us and checked in regularly to make sure we were enjoying everything. All of the staff made sure we knew exactly what each course was, how to eat it, and so on. The food was really good too. Very fresh tasting and flavorful"

Six of us went to dinner to
celebrate my birthday. I even recognized the special dishes that I had always most enjoyed--both the chicken and lamb tagine (cooked in a Morrocan-style clay slow-cooking oven)--the meat is moist and juicy and falls off the bone. And when I couldn't decide which tagine to get, the waiter said he would give us both! And as always, the Bastia was absolute heaven and comes with every combination meal. One couple had never been to Marrakesh and were a little worried. She said that she didn't like lamb, but I asked her to taste it; she said it was the best she had ever eaten and asked for more! And he is now planning to host his birthday celebration there next month. Awesome service by both the waiter and maître d!"

I scored major girlfriend points
by taking my boyfriend here for his birthday dinner. The food was great, it was quiet enough for it to be intimate but vibrant enough to be memorable. Service was great. Belly dancer was fun. May just become a birthday tradition."

Good ethnic food and a great
atmosphere to enjoy a night with a small or large group. Very fun and reasonable."

Marakesh is a great visit!!! If
you haven't been it offers good food, fun entertainment and the hosts are very nice! Service was good! Food was good, the the best but totally worth the experience!"

As soon as I walked in I felt as
if I was in Morocco. I brought a date from the middle east and she really liked the place in terms of ambience. The food and service was very good--- the lamb was great!! I liked the music and the belly dancer was entertaining and fun."

Where to begin..... We really
enjoyed our meal and where looking forward to returning to Marrakesh after 4 years. Well the food comes out in courses and seemed to take a long time, however we where really hungry. After the main courst I learned it is very hard to get eye contact when the waiters walk by, I remember this trick being a waiter myself in college. However I handed my waiter my credit card and asked for the check saying "we are in a rush, service was great! Check please!" 10 minutes later he brings is tea and baklava.....? Well again I asked for a check and why not a box for the desert! Overall this is a great place. But the service did not impress me."

My husband and I visited 25 years
ago and wanted to try again with friends. The experience was average and pricey. Total with tip for 8, $390.00. We remember sitting on large pillows and eating food with our hands, part of the appeal we were going back for. This time we sat on tiny chairs and low cushioned couches. 6ft tall men with our party uncomfortable. Hard to fit the round table for entire party to eat without leaning over. The food average. lentil soup good, vegetable eggplant and cinnamon carrot salad had some flavor, served too cold. Entrees bland, the lamb best choice. Baklava great. Tea too sweet. Belly dancer, and the tented "Arabian Nights" decor was nice. Curious for a "cultural" experience, try it but expect a big bill!"

We have had the opportunity to
visit Morroco and were glad to find the Marrakesh to visit for the reminder of the great food we found in that country. We even bought our own tagines. The tent decorated decor makes you feel like you are in Morroco and the belly dancer is so great to watch. We found the wines from Morroco to be very good. Definitely a place to visit for a special occasion or when you may want food that is tasty and different. I would choose the Traditional for the best mixture of items for a party of 6 or more and plan to share the dishes."

Here on vacation. Went on Monday
night. Not crowded at all. Service was perfect we enjoyed the food and the ambiance. Found the restaurant by looking in open table. Had mixed reviews but we found it good and would go again. It's not the very best Moroccon food we have ever had but it is a great vue for the price and the good was tasty and well prepared."
Dined on 11/11/2013
The dinner and the atmosphere
teleported me to morocco, and made me feel like I never want to leave."
Dined on 10/20/2013
The food selection is not large,
but what they make has awesome flavors. The belly dancer could be a little thinner."
Dined on 9/22/2013
The atmosphere made this place
extra special. Food was good. Belly dancer was so sweet! Would definitely return."
Dined on 9/7/2013
Food was great and the service was
even better. Everyone should come here at least once. Great for a romantic date or a fun group outing."
Dined on 9/1/2013
If you are seeking something out
of the ordinary this place certainly offers that. The interior is different. Food is average and the service takes forever. The staff is very accomodating and polite so this is not an egative on th staff, in fact our wait staff went out of their way to accomodate our needs. They probably need more staff."
Dined on 8/24/2013
Probably more fun with a big
group. Food is nothing special. Service was a bit slow. Very uncomfortable seating because table was so low with small low stools or the sofa but couldn't sit in any normal sitting position and I am pretty short."
Dined on 8/23/2013
From the live belly dancer and
"tented" dining areas, Marrakesh is a great place for those interested in trying something different. Try the chef special which is a prix fixe selection with appetizers, main courses, and dessert. Food was well prepared and staff was friendly. We'll definitely go back."
Dined on 8/4/2013
The food & ambience was good
service could have been better!"

Marrakesh is the perfect
restaurant for date night. Great food and service. Lovely romantic atmosphere."

It has been a very long time since
I had Moroccan food & I now wish I hadn't waited so long! I wanted to take my wife somewhere special and romantic for her visit to SoCal and found Marrakesh on OpenTable. It worked out very well! We had the honey lamb & my wife is going to try to make this at home it was so good. We had the lemon chicken & while it was good, the lamb ruled! The salad before the meal was very good and the baclava was to die for. We liked the decor and the ambiance. Will definitely go back when next in the area. Belly dancer was fun too!"
Dined on 7/13/2013
We ordered the duck and rabbit
feast. Oh my goodness the food and experience was awesome. First time here and I kept smiling the whole night :D I loved it!! I loved the atmosphere and decor of the restaurant. Great place to try something new. You won't be disappointed."
Dined on 7/13/2013
A little loud for comfortable
dinner conversation, but when asked they did turn the background music down so we could hear each other across the table. excellent food and drink. class A dining experience."
Dined on 6/24/2013
The atmosphere is so cool. You
feel like you're in Morocco. Tents, drapes - so cool. The tables are low to the ground and the seats are a bit weird at first, they're couches, but it is quite comfortable. The service is amazing. Friendly and helpful if you've never had Moroccan food. Went for my daughter's 15th birthday and she loved it. Start with lentil soup with lemon. Then their version of salad - yummy. The main dishes were so tasty and tender. Baklava for dessert was delicious. Then the belly dancer. My 11 year old got up and she gave her a quick lesson. Fun night. I would totally recommend this. Also, if you want a romantic dinner without the kids, this is the place to go."
Dined on 6/6/2013
It was great food, super service
and just a fun night that was the whole experience. Very friendly staff, great entertainment and fun for our birthday gathereing."
Dined on 6/2/2013
My boyfriend and I came here on a
Friday night for a date, and had so much fun! The food was great, we loved the pastilla!! The green mint tea was awesome too. I got the honey lamb and he got the mixed kabobs, both of which were great. I danced with the belly dancer and the whole experience was just an all around fun and unique one. We were charged for a beer we didn't order, but just told the waiter and he took it off for us. No problems there. I would recommend it!!"
Dined on 5/10/2013
We arrived early for dinner and
were the first ones there that evening. (Showing up before the kitchen and the wait staff get busy is always a benefit at any restaurant.) Service was friendly and efficient. The waiter brought hot water to the table for the traditional hand washing. My wife and I tried the lamb in honey and we both liked it very much. The belly dancer added to the ambiance. We plan to go back again. Be aware that the seating is very low but you are not actually sitting on the floor. I am over 6' and had to sit cross-legged. It's all part of the experience!"
Dined on 4/17/2013
Took my 11 year old daughter here
when my wife was busy with book club. She loves it here. Food is good and the kitschy stmosphere is always fun. Daughter danced with the belly dancer - great fun!"
