Our steaks were cooked perfectly. They ask you to cut into the steak while they shine a light on it to make sure it's properly cooked which was a nice touch. Service otherwise wasn't on par with the food. It felt like the servers weren't well-trained. Aside from the first glass, they didn't pour any of our wine, not even for the other person at the table - they literally poured ONE glass.
I recommend trying the restaurant if you want a great steak, but I doubt we'll go back. When you spend over $200 for a meal for two, you should receive service to match, and Mahagony fell flat. Service was excellent; it was smooth and didn't disturb us unduly. Our primary was very knowledgeable about the menu and very pleasant to work with. The steaks were excellent but more fresh vegetables could have been available for the sides. Crab cakes were excellent but the scallops were not as much of a hit. The dessert cakes while good were as chilled as if they had just come out of the cooler. However, all in all we had a great evening. My steak was slightly undercooked and asked to have it refired. When it came back it had been soaked in too much butter (butter pooled on the plate), making it a little greasy. Wife had a filet that was perfect. Had the corn vegetable which was fresh cut off the cob and amazing. The fresh hot bread loaf was exceptional.

I have been there on two occasions, once for my parents' 20th wedding anniversary and the second for my mom's birthday. Both times they made us feel special and made my family's special night extraordinary. I recommend starting with the Full Monte which is the seafood sampler platter. The smoked salmon, the trout spread and the crab cake are fabulous. We also had the lobster special which was prepared escargot style with butter, garlic and cheese. For dinner we all had steaks which were prepared exactly to order. The lobster escargot was a delicious start. Lauren raved about the house salad and Gina loved the crab and lobster bisque. Our steaks were excellent, as well as our side dishes.
