Luca D'ItaliaOutstanding service & great foodWe were out celebrating our anniversary & decided to try Luca's for the first time (we had a gift card so that was our motivation for going). All I can say is "wow"! The service was top notch & very attentive. The food was outstanding. Our waitress was very helpful & the sommelier was very knowledgeable about Italian wines. Having an early reservation at 6, the restaurant was quiet with only one or two other tables occupied allowing for ease of conversation and excellent service. Waitstaff and hostess were exceptionally attentive and friendly. The food was outstanding, combining flavors one would not have imagined working. As it was a temperate night in June, the large garage style window was open which made if feel as if one were dining outside with a beautiful breeze. We had reservations for 4 and our party unexpectedly changed to 5 at the last minute before arriving and they were unable to accommodate the extra party, but we were early enough that the bar was available so we were able to be accommodated there. That wasn't the BEST, but worked well, and the serving bar tender was excellent at making the experience as special as if we were all around a table.

Usually it has been a memorable experience; however, this last visit was disappointing. Service was above average but not at its usual superior level. Our server seemed to be far more interested in other tables besides ours and I heard her describing menu options to another table that were not offered to us. Also, our wait for our main course was longer than it should have been. The food was good but routine and its quality did not justify its price. He never introduced himself and I felt like we were a burden to him rather than valued customers. The poor service is what kept this from being a five star review. But.. if you want to serve me a cookie at least make it as big as a vanilla wafer! I tried the chefs 6 course tasting menu.. The restaurant had a set menu for the evening and it was awesome. The meal was perfectly paced and the attention we received was steady and professional. We opted for the wine pairing for each course, and the wines chosen were just right each time (and the sommellier had a lot of knowledge about Italy's crazy wine scene - not easy to do!).
