"Lidia's is a beautiful restaurant with excellent service; they made me feel very special on my birthday with the lovely sparklies on our table and the beautifully written "Happy Birthday" in chocolate on my candle-lit, excellent, dessert. But the food was astonishingly bland--flavorless! We were so surprised given Lidia's reputation. My pasta trio had good gnocchi Bolognase--it reminded me of the flavors in Chef Boy-r-dee canned ravioli, only better--but the penne arrabiata tasted like canned tomatoes and Martha Gooch pasta w/o any seasonings. The fettaccine must have been homemade--very good--but with an oily sauce with medium-sized shrimp cooked hard and--again--no flavor. What a shame, but when we complained, our bill was free!"

"We were crammed at a small table that was tightly situated between other tables. We got bumped by every waiter, busboy, and everyone else walking by; constantly ducking everytime they brought trays by. We were never asked or given an opportunity of where to sit. With the amount of people, the noise was extreme. Also, being so close to the tables beside us (2' on one side, 3' on the other), we couldnt talk/hear each other. It would definitely not be recommended for a quiet date night.
The food was alright. The stuffed cabbage lacked something, maybe partially in the watered sauce? The lemon chicken was good, but extremely salty. We cannot say anything for dessert since we were in such a rush to get out we skipped and went elsewher"

"My wife and I picked a random Friday night for a nice dinner out. We had heard how good Lidia's was so we were excited to try it out. The atmosphere is really great, and we had a great table. Unfortunately things went downhill quickly. I asked the waiter for a heavier oaked chardonnay, and the waiter recommended one. After tasting it and not being too impressed but not going to send it back, I had a chance to read the label and noticed it was an unoaked chardonnay. The wait between ordering and the food arriving was relatively short. The caesar salad was great. We both ordered the tableside trio pasta. Good, but not great. The ravioli was tasteless. We didn't get water refills until our meal was over. Will not be going back."

"Lidia's never fails to impress. The food is well prepared and absolutely flavorful. We chose to dine early because we had two toddlers in our group and the staff was very accommodating. Highly recommend this wonderful spot."

"I am a New Yorker and found Lidia's too be exceptional !!! Well worth the ride from Warrensburg where I was staying in missouri !!1 Impeccable service, food and quality for decent prices !11 A must go to when in Kansas City !11 Mangia !!! Go Hunger !!!"
