  • "I didn't intend to eat a steak when I took visiting relatives to Lewnes, but am I ever glad I did! It was truly the best I ever had: tender, juicy, tasty….and I order meat cooked well done! The sides are delicious, the wine list impressive, and the service impeccable. The waiter was attentive but not intrusive. A perfect evening!"

  • "Second visit. We felt the same way the last time but figured maybe it was a bad night so we would give it another shot. Bad call and waste of money. The food was "fine" but could never describe it as "good". The steaks were good quality but completely bland. No seasoning or butter. Just an expensive hunk of meat. The only item I would compliment was the oysters rockefeller. At this price point everything should have been first rate. Friday night at 7:30pm and the place was nearly empty so apparently the word is getting round. I'm not usually a fan of chain restaurants but I would recommend Ruth's Chris over Lewnes any day of the week."

  • "The perfect spot for an intimate and special evening. The food is exceptional, preparation perfect, and the service is attentive without smothering."

  • "Small menu, but there is a good variety to choose from. It's a pricey place, but the steaks were wonderful, and the portions were large."

  • "We went to Lewnes with a gift card from our wedding. We were very disappointed in the quality of the steak. My husband ordered a strip steak med rare. The piece of meat was filled with grizzle and fat and VERY RED. When he mentioned to the waiter that he had to work way too hard to consume the meat, there was not even an apology. We have been here one other time...not good enough to come back a third time."

  • "Most food was quite good. Sides served family style 5 of us crammed in a booth when larger tables were available"

  • "My wife and I had talked about dining at Lewnes for several years and finally did. It was a memorable evening. The food and service were outstanding. In addition, the high back seats in the booths add a level of quiet and privacy not found at many restaurants. Once is definitely not enough for this restaurant."

  • "Good food, wonderful service. This restaraunt was recommended by folks downtown. It's always good to check out the spots that the locals choose. We will return when back in Annapolis."

  • "You can always count on a great steak at Lewnes. Service is a bit "snotty", though. Endurable, but not what you want when you are paying top dollar for beef and the experience."

  • "Lewnes had been on our bucket list for years and did not disappoint. Service was outstanding from the time we walked in the front door. We were seated immediately, and our server was attentive but also did not rush us. He gave excellent recommendations for all courses. We will definitely return."

  • "Years ago I thought this was the best steakhouse in Annapolis, much better than Ruth's Chris. I've noticed the food and service has been slipping over the last 4 to 5 years. The food and steaks are good but not exceptional. My wife and I split an order of clams casino and they were very gritty. This visit our waitress was on top of everything and the food was on time and everything was delivered as ordered. My complaint about the service is they don't stand out as being exceptional. They are not well polished and they seem to lack personality. We were asked if we needed any explanations about the menu but the waitress lacked enthusiasm. I expect more when a table of 4 is spending $300. I've had this same issue my last few visits."

  • "Lewnes's has good rep locally for steak/beef plus good environment . dark woods, booth style layout. We were there for good food and a classy, quiet environment to celebrate my wife's special birthday. Overall, we would have had a 5 stars experience but three areas did not make it: Context: all most everyone in the resturant was quiet, composed and well dressed (business attire) except our "next door neighbors". Specific areas: noise from nearby booth and food, specifically my tuna came out cold rather than warm (per order).. My wife ordered filet (excellent) and I ordered tuna with a warm center, which came out cold and was sent back for a bit more. Waiter performed well but it was his mistake on the tuna temp."

  • "Wine list was extensive with a large selection of high end wines. Steaks and shrimp were excellent. Oysters Rockefeller appetizer was very good. Side dishes are large and can be shared. We over-ordered on the side dishes, not knowing how much we were going to get. We went to celebrate my son'r 26th birthday and they provided him with a free dessert (with candle) that we shared. Overall, I would give them 4.5 stars. Great place for special occasions."

  • "We usually go to Ruth Chris, especially on special occasions. This time we decided to try out Lewnes' and very happy we did. The meal was delicious, steak cooked to perfection, I had a side order of shrimp scampi with my filet and it was an excellent combination. The menu is not as extent as Ruth Chris, however, has all the necessary sides and best chose of steaks. What I also liked was that you can order your sides in half portions which worked out great. As for the service it was excellent our server, John is a keeper. We will be back!!!"

  • "The bar is small but is well stocked. The smallness of the bar matches the neighborhood and the restaurant's ambience, as well. You don't go to Lewnes' Steakhouse to drink at the bar. You go to sit at a booth and enjoy the food. Dinner was great. Service was friendly. Overall a good experience. I recommend."

  • "My wife and I selected this restaurant due to prior experiences there. They continue to excel in their menu, service and ambiance. We were celebrating our 27th anniversary and they presented us with a very tasty dessert dish after our meal at no additional charge. We will come back and we will recommend Lewnes to others for special occasions."

  • "We have visited this restaurant for special occasions as well as just when we want a great steak and they never fail to deliver. Everyone at Lewnes Steakhouse goes out of their way to make you feel special. The wine selection is well rounded and the prices reasonable. The steaks are amazing, the salads crisp, the clams casino worth the trip on their own merit and the dessert worth taking home because you probably will be too full to eat it then."

  • "I have dined at Lewnes' on several different occasions. Their food is consistently excellent and is often well paired with a wonderful bottle of red wine. I was excited to see Lewnes' participate in Restaurant Week because it gave us another "occasion" to go enjoy their food. I always recommend Lewnes' to those looking for a great steak in Annapolis."

  • "Great deal on an excellent meal. Filets and crab cakes were top notch as always. There were only 3 of us and the waiter let us know about half portions of sides. Who knew??? That was excellent because we could have more variety. Extensive wine selection, but caution... can be pricey!"

  • "I would highly recommend this place. It was a bit quite for me since I was meeting 4 other friends but besides that it was a lovely place. Best steak I've ever had. I love steak & this was the first place that cooked it correctly."

  • "Lewnes's is just great! Our experience for dinner was absolutely excellent in every way. From the host who graciously took our coats and seated us, to our waitress, to the food - it was all just perfect. Nothing could be done to improve the experience at Lewnes' that night, I can't wait to go back, and I'm highly recommending Lewnes' to everyone I know whenever I get a chance. PATTI is an excellent waitress and she could not have given us more perfect service, or been more charming! I wish every restaurant we go to could have servers as good as PATTI; she is a gem!"

  • "The best steak house, period. Outstanding food and service, with a killer wine list. Classic ambiance with many comfortable booths providing privacy for easy conversation."

  • "I always wanted to take my husband here, for an amazing steak dinner. We took the opportunity on our 2nd wedding anniversary, which happened to fall on Annapolis Restaurant Week. We enjoyed our meals immensely. He had the house salad, filet, and brownie a la mode. I had the greek salad, greek-style shrimp (I can't remember the name) and cheesecake. Every bit was delicious and the service was impeccable. We enjoyed a lovely bottle of wine from their long list of options. We will be back for our next special occasion!"

  • "Food was very good. Steak House style. Everything A la cart. $$$$ Very disappointed in service. Waited 20 minutes before waiter even appeared. Then sparingly. This should not happen for the caliber of this restaurant."

  • "People told me Lewnes was great, but we were disappointed with our dinner experience on the Friday of Annapolis Restaurant Week. Although the restaurant wasn't terribly crowded, the service was very slow. For a restaurant with a good reputation, we were also disappointed with the menu's general lack of imagination. For example, the house salad was a mediocre blend based on iceberg lettuce. The filets were excellent quality meat, but they over-cooked my medium order. The desserts were also uninspired and nothing terribly special. At the end of our meal, I rose from my seat and walked my credit card to the waitress so we wouldn't have to wait even longer. Fittingly it seemed, I had to hunt down someone to retrieve our checked coats."

  • "Lewnes was a different experience during restaurant week than our last weeknight visit when it was quiet and romantic. We were seated upstairs where the ambiance is not the same--steaks were excellent, the rest of the food good, but we will save Lewnes for a special weeknight occasion."

  • "I had read other reviews raving about how this was just like a "New York Steakhouse" and we were all looking forward to it. Not even close to a New York steakhouse! The service was awful from the sarcastic and not funny waiter to the staff who almost threw our food on the table. The food was bland - use some seasoning! Our money is better well spent next door at Ruth Chris or around the corner at the Chart House."

  • "My party decided to try Lewnes' Steakhouse during restaurant week and we found the atmosphere to be very comfortable and relaxing, the service was well timed, the food was outstanding. My party all decided on the petite filet; however, we each chose to have it cooked to our own likeness and the chef hit it spot on for each of us. Lewnes' does offer large portion sides for sharing so we decided to order the sauteed spinach which was prepared with a nice citrus flavor, we all agreed that we would order this side again. Our meal was topped off with a tasty serving of key lime pie or cheesecake. We look forward to a return visit to Lewnes in the near future."

  • "As usual, food was excellent. We looked forward to dining mid-week and were not disappointed. Service was pleasant although it was a busy night and the kitchen was slower than I am accustomed to. Not looking to be rushed but we dined for 3 hours."

  • "This was my 3rd time trying Lewnes. My first two experiences there were not good, but my husband and I wanted to try it again because everyone in Annapolis raves about it. But again we had a sub par experience. Our Greek salads were watery, the steak was very tender and cooked well but lacked flavor and my brownie a la mode had good vanilla ice cream over a rock hard tasteless brownie. My husband liked his cheesecake. Our server seemed like he hated us or life and was not welcoming or helpful in any way. I will continue to go to Ruth Chris next door where I always have a wonderful experience."

  • "Unfortunately our reservation handling was unacceptable. Having confirmed res at 2, our party of 2 arrived at the appointed time, 7:30. We watched 6 /7 couples get seated, most of whom arrived after we did. When I questioned seating policy and wait time, the hostess advised they were waiting for our table to leave. I didn't realize that we had a special table waiting for us. Time: 7:50. Imagine my surprise when we seated at a two-top next to the bar area that had been empty the entire time. To top if off our waitress never seemed engaged. The front operations are run by college age kids. A restaurant of this calibre cannot afford to be mediocre when comes to customer service. I am a Eastporter but I will not be returning."

  • "Service was overall slow, from the host and the server. It's restaurant week so you get 3 courses for $32.95! Our first course was a choice between a house salad or a Greek salad. The house is basically the Greek minus cheese. I would've liked more options, like soup or apps. Then it was time for the main course. Your choice of petite filet, salmon, crab cakes or shrimp. Note that none of them come with sides, just protein on a plate. You have to pay extra for veggies and potatoes. Dessert was cheesecake, key lime pie or a brownie sundae. The food is always to die for at Lewnes and is my favorite steakhouse, but they definitely need to "beef up" the menu and staff during restaurant week."

  • "Initially put at a table near the bar, very loud. Asked to move to a quieter area and was moved a few tables back. Service was slow, food was served and the server didn't return for 15+ minutes to check on us. I ordered my filet medium and it came out cold in the center, looking rare. Had to sit and wait for the waiter to return to let him know. Overall, I wouldn't recommend the restaurant and we won't be returning."

  • "They have a great team there and our waiter was awesome. I do have one Complaint though, me and boyfriend do look young one waiter asked if we would like wine. We said yes and what wine they would recommend for our meal, he named one and said it was reasonable as well. We got the wine based on his suggestion but it did not pair well and I'm pretty sure he could've suggested a better wine with a bigger price tag which would have been perfectly fine for us. So I'm just saying don't judge a book by its cover for the wallet size. Just because we looked young doesn't mean we don't have money."
